Has it where it counts, however, as it offers a really good looking version of the anime characters. Additionally, it plays out cutscenes in the game engine that looks almost as good as most modern anime.
-
When Gungrave is at its best, it's an extremely entertaining action game with a satisfying storyline. At its worse, it's still pretty repetitive and about as deep as a wading pool. Overdose doesn't break any new ground, but still manages to be a great waste of time.
-
What I don't understand though is how the developers felt the need to add a really bad slow motion element to the final boss battle, when this had never happened anywhere else in the game. This makes the final fight agonizingly annoying, so if you can get this far then you may as well push on through.
-
Often too chaotic for its own good. Struggling to lock onto enemies and the clunky camera will often frustrate gamers. The action is repetitive, but you get a good feeling from being outnumbered 20 to one and walking out alive.
-
A lot of style with very little substance makes Grave a dull boy.
-
You're going to give your controller a real workout as wave upon wave of enemies rush you and you send them straight to Hell. On the other hand this is a pretty mediocre looking game and it is a bit of a one-trick pony.
-
Can be fun in limited amounts, but amounts to one gigantic action binge—packing in extra characters and drawing out its action sequences to excess.

ATNov 25, 2004Way better than the first, the game play is really creative, and makes you feel like you're in the anime!
