    God of War is also one of the best looking titles in the PS2 library. The CGI rendered cutscenes are amazing, the animation is smooth and there is no framerate or screen tearing issues. At the time of its release, the game's graphics were noted as being close to Xbox quality. Of course, good gameplay is what really counts and GOW delivers it in spades. This is a 10-12 hour action-adventure game with no padding at all. It's compelling and entertaining from beginning to end. I would give it a 9.5 out of 10.    … Expand

    Esse jogo marcou a minha vida, já devo ter zerado umas 200 vezes, adoro ele e conheço cada sala, cada segredo, cada inimigo, a história é fantástica, a gameplay é marcante e nostálgica, os personagens são absolutamente incríveis e definitivamente ele inicia a franquia com chave de ouro.

    Genre-spanning platform/adventure/beat 'em up with combat that's a little too reliant upon button bashing and a difficulty level that's brutal on the higher settings, but it looks and sounds great and has a cool storyline based upon ancient Greek mythology.

    Great game, the combat is really enjoyable despite being so simple. Sometimes it can be a little frustrating and unfair, but it still holds really well. However, just at the end of the game they just make everything fall off with some actually unfair battles, ignoring all the staff they have been building up during the rest of the game and making it seem actually unfair for no reason.

    Por mais que atualmente God of War tenha envelhecido mal, analisando em retrospecto, é um dos melhores hack'n'slash já lançados na história. Com gameplay refinada, gráficos excelentes, brutalidade sem igual e com um protagonista memorável, tornam o título imprescindível para o PS2.

    Für 2005 ein wahnsinnig gut gealtertes Action-Adventure. Die Kämpfe sind richtig flutschig und wichtig gleichzeitig. Die Geschichte ist fantastisch erzählt, wobei auch Cutscenes toll gestaltet sind. Das einzige Manko ist, dass teilweise die Spielzeit auf nervige Art und Weise gestreckt wird (Beispielsweise nachspawnende Gegner oder Doppelung der Parcours. Dennoch bereitet es viel Freude.

    Playing the first God of War in 2023 was a frustrating experience. While the story and cutscenes are great and hold up very well, the game feels unfair. Now I might have forgotten that older games were way harder but some sequences were overtuned with enemies that took too long to kill and constantly respawned.     I loved the level design and the mix with puzzles on the other hand, the camera work was stellar showing you impressive vistas in the background that made the levels feel bigger than they are. There are hidden secrets and chests to find and the environments are varied enough.

    A fun classic PS2 action game. The set pieces here are pretty fun and the theme and presentation really elevate it. Unfortunately the combat is rather basic, but still enjoyable. It leans heavily on the sheer satisfaction of ripping enemies apart with your basic combos.

    I have never seen such a game before. In one word: legend. The pleasure of playing is very high, the story of the game is very beautiful. In my opinion, it is the best game in the God of War series.

    God Of War (2005) still holds up very well with its graphics and gameplay. The level design, characters, and story are all perfect. I recommend it even today. A flawless masterpiece.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Has a very iconic intro and the game throws you right into the action within a couple of minutes. It's such a refreshing start to a game and the storytelling and twists are top notch with satisfying combat.

    One of the things this game has also is an amazing sense of scale and the environments are very well crafted and interwovened together. The game also does a good job of introducing you to this brutal universe with a badass compelling story along with a badass main character and all these things put together make for a MASTERPIECE of a game.    … Expand

Don't play this game just watch it on YouTube the combat is insanly infuriating and the game play is straight up unfair. I played in normal mode up untill the final boss fight with the golden sword. That part was so **** bad that I quit the game. It is insanly unfair and whenever you get hit he heals and not to mention the fact that you are constantly just stuck in place. Move? Stuck. Attack? Stuck. Get hit? Stuck. Roll? Stuck. No matter what happens krotos won't stand his ass up and blocking hardly works after **** ages of trying and feeling a rage that no game has EVER brought me my game froze and made me restart from the first phase. I quit then. I will never pick up this game again, I will be playing GoW2 but this game is horrible the cons far outweigh the pros


    Edit: my gamer pride caved and I switched to easy mode which felt like a cakewalk in comparison to normal. It was almost like jumping from Very hard to Easy mode. Большое разнообразие противников: тут вам и циклопы, обычные мечники, минотавры, сирены, церберы, гаргульи и тд, плюс много крови иПроходил на высоком уровне сложности, геймплей не устарел, играется нормально в 2022 году, но есть некоторые огрехи, как по мне. Камера порой так близка к Кратосу, из-за чего не понятно, что на экране происходит и тяжело предугадать, откуда бьёт противник. Большое разнообразие противников: тут вам и циклопы, обычные мечники, минотавры, сирены, церберы, гаргульи и тд, плюс много крови и мяса, брутальность зашкаливает. Хочется похвалить qte сражения, а вот моменты с добиванием, когда появляется значок и тебе нужно добить, сделаны криво, т. к. не всегда срабатывают, и можно получить ответный удар. Играл через эмулятор в 4к, претензий к графону нет, а вот ролики устарели.
    Геймлпейные моменты, когда нужно лазать по стене и отбиваться от врагов - скучные, неинтересные, можно было это убрать, т. к. секции могут долго длиться. Сюда также добавлю секции с канатной дорогой и где предстоит подниматься по движущимся по кругу колоннам с торчащими клинками.
    Классная, брутальная музыка. Крутое решение, когда из одного сундука можно по-своему решению взять ману либо хп (поначалу я так думал). Но потом выяснилось, что если сундук один, а у тебя закончилась мана, то после боя ты выберешь именно хп, а значит нужно искать второй сундук, которого в большинстве случаев нет, поэтому скорее всего придётся бегать без маны прилично по времени. Много комбо ударов разных, но пользовался я стандартными т. е. спамя одну кнопку квадрата, по простой причине, если ты начинаешь выполнять удары, которые тебе открылись за прокачку оружия, они неэффективны, т. к. во время удара, ты не можешь использовать блок и прервать его, а значит, если в момент твоего удара противник уже замахнулся на тебя, то урон ты получишь в любом случае. Также и у врагов есть комбо-атаки, которые мало того, что нельзя парировать, так не получится даже увернуться, если враг уже начал выполнять комбо и первым же ударом по тебе попал. Несбалансированная сложность, которая заключается в том, что противники становится чуть ли не титановые и выдерживают большое количество урона, а по игроку наоборот увеличен урон. Поэтому не советую играть на высоком уровне сложности.
    Сюжет ничем особенным не выделяется, он неплохой до тех пор, пока не начнёшь детально его рассматривать и обдумывать, тогда с историей всё станет далеко не так однозначно, появятся много вопросов на которых нет ответа. Атмосфера Древней Греции передана хорошо, жаль что представлено очень мало Богов. Посоветую играть только тем, кто хотел бы ознакомиться с историей Кратоса, каким жестоким он был раньше и по какой причине.    … Expand

    At this point an all-time classic, the first game of God of War, unlike other pieces from the 2000s, has aged so well, and, except some of the old-camera moves and perspectives, that make the game frustrating at some points, the game feel and the story is exceptionally accomplished, turning the beginning of our favorite god killer into a must play masterpiece.

Por otro lado los gráficos son excelentes para la época, sacando a relucir la ps2 y con una tremenda OST perfecta para el juego.

    Soundtrack of this game is awesome. But when playing in 2022, some in game features hangs on time. Puzzles are ruin the pace. Nevertheless, this game has wonderful and very epic storyline. Also, has a fun gameplay and the beginning of a legend.

    Definitely the ancestor of Hack and Slash games. A revolutionary work for its year. Excellent storytelling. Very good gameplay dynamics. And of course the legendary music. Thanks to this game, I became interested in Greek mythology :))

    This game has a lot of good things. The gameplay, character designs, level design etc. This game is little bit long but it is okay. You just boring a few episode. The weapon types are not too many. We have too many spells in this game but you can't use effectively because the magic capacity is not too much.

    Как же я страдал, как же это больно. Самый главный враг - камера. Я сражался с ней. Какая же она дурацкая. Далее по сложности всевозможные загадки. Сюжет простой, но наблюдать интересно.

    I find this to be a bad ass game with great combat and memorable boss fights. The upgrades you'll get are a great addition in this hack 'n slash and it's also a great challenge. So why the 7? It's a 7 for me because the menu music eventually literally got under my skin and that nearly ruined the experience for me.

    One of my favorites franchises started with this amazing game. The combat is awesome,frenetic and addictive. The story is great and deep, one of the best PS2 games.

    The game is great, but compared to the later games, this one lacks polish. The fighting is wacky at times and the cutscenes are horrendous. Yet I still enjoy and love this game.

    Yes, this game was very fun and well worth the 14.99 I paid for it on sale. The story has Kratos as a man hell bent on revenge. The target for his revenge, Ares the god of war. Ares has his own plans as he is trying to take down Aphrodite, she is using Kratos though to take him down. So you have your double crosses and such. Why is Kratos wanting revenge, well Ares tricked Kratos intoYes, this game was very fun and well worth the 14.99 I paid for it on sale. The story has Kratos as a man hell bent on revenge. Why is Kratos wanting revenge, well Ares tricked Kratos into killing his own family so there ya go. The combat in this game is very fun, simple to do yet it looks very cool. You do cool combos and nifty looking finisher type moves on various mythical creatures. You span a few levels as you start with a cool ship scene and also an attack on a city, you also have to go through this strange fortress on top of a giants back. My favorite level though is the hades level as it looks really awesome. Speaking of awesome, the graphics here are just that. From the giant Minotaur's, to the super scenery, and to the falling people in the hades level everything here looks exceptional. My only complaint is the rather short play time and the shortage of boss fights which is a shame, because the ones they do have are very fun. So for a fun game that offers a challenge, but does not make you rip your hair out give this game a try. Add to that you even get to see some boobies!!!… Expand

    Absolute blast, the story, the gameplay and even the cutscene graphics for its time are amazing. This Franchise is the best out there. All phenomenal games especially the 2018 one.

    Can't help but assume that hack and slash gets kind of boring, although GoW gets it just right. The urge to follow with the adventure is still a riddle for me, but I just love to beat them all to death. Not to talk about the bosses, they are amazing. Truly has some unforgettable moments.

    A beautiful game that starts one of the best game series of all time. I also think that it's still playable in 2022. Great combat mechanic, nice levels design, and epic boss fights. I didn't get a chance to play it when it first came out, but it must have been a legendary game for 2005.

    EL juego envejecio horriblemente mal, tapa la falta de contenido y jefes con constantes oleadas de enemigos que solo entorpecen la experiencia, porque está bien que en estos generos pongan enemigos, pero cuando no paran de spawnear y no hay otras peleas mas importantes, que solamente bichos molestos y repetitivos es horrible.
