    The graphics are clean and bright, but clearly representative of a first generation game, and the music, aside from a few levels, is uninspired.

    The typical fashion model hangs out on the French Riviera and wears a slinky black dress with a fancy designer name on it. The typical RPGer eats a lot of french fries and wears a size XXL black T-shirt with a crewmember of the USS Enterprise on it. These similarities were not lost on From Software.

    It's just the mediocrity of everything - the story, voice acting, character development, plot progression, translation, combat system - that make it an average gaming experience.

    There isn't a tree, mountain, character, location or special effect in this game that has any degree of personality or liveliness within its existence, making the whole engine seem like an assembly-line, cookie-cutter, by-the-numbers effort on the part of From Software.

    I know there is a cult following of this game which say this is an underrated gem that eventually became demon souls and dark souls but thatI know there is a cult following of this game which say this is an underrated gem that eventually became demon souls and dark souls but that still doesn't make this game on its own anything special for me. If you like a dark souls style game it was done properly on ps3 and that doesn't make this game itself great by comparison. On its own....tons of glitches, gamers who love this game speedrun it with all its glitches. The atmosphere is supposed to be great. I'm not buying it. It looks old, is jaggy with screen tearing and I'm also not fooled by music played out of key. I can't really say much good about this game. I actually like following the progression of video games and maybe that's why I can't go back and enjoy this. With how demon and dark souls knocked it out of the park in all aspects all I can see is how rudimentary and unpolished this game is almost like a pre beta. From fans who go back to this because From Software made it I'd like to challenge this thought : Is it fair to say checkers is awesome because you like chess and it has hints of being in the same boat. Never would anyone sane pretend checkers has anywhere near the complexity of chess. In that same note this was an unpolished preliminary idea that was perfected 12 years later but still leaves this game in kinda neat territory at best from my perspective. There is just no way I'm giving this game time knowing I already own the successor in differing formats with much improved gaming systems and Audi video equipment. Trip out in the dark ages if you like but I can't do it.… Full Review »

    Felt great to complete this game in 2022. Interesting story, engaging gameplay, worth trying if you like action RPGs.
