Sometimes a friend and I just sit back and see how many enemies we can take out before we die - forget the mission, fighting bad guys is the way to go!
-
A standard expansion pack and nothing more.
-
This is really just an upgrade to DW3, so if youve got that, youre probably better off waiting for DW4, but then it does open up new features in DW3 and has an extra hard difficulty level, so if youre a DW nut... But if you fancy taking your first foray into the series, this is definitely the best one so far.
-
Play MagazineIf you loved "DW3," you'll love this enhancement. [Jan 2003, p.76]
-
Plagued with bad camera issues as well as the repetitive action of the original, this remix to DW3 isnt much of an improvement but its added content is just too good to pass up if you already own the original.
-
They don't freshen up the gameplay so much as to make DW3: Xtreme Legends worth another thirty bucks on top of however much you paid for DW3 -- unless you're utterly obsessed with the DW series, or you can find a used DW3 for cheap.
-
For hard-core fans of the previous games, it'll serve as a decent holdover until "Dynasty Warriors 4" comes out.
-
Hardcore fans of this Koei action series will be in affordable expansion pack heaven, since Xtreme Legends delivers more of what made DW3 such a challenging and amusing button-masher of a 3D Final Fight clone.
-
It's repetitive and (to be honest) gets dull after a while, but the sheer scope of Xtreme Legends keeps it engaging for a reasonably long time.
-
With Dynasty 4's release scheduled for March, it's hard to recommend Xtreme Legends for purchase, fine game though it may be. [Feb 2003, p.72]
-
The hacking 'n' slashing power never grows old, because your path to winning a battle is wide open. [Feb 2003, p.100]
-
If you really want to get into Dynasty Warriors from scratch, then you might find yourself better off with a second-hand copy of "Dynasty Warriors 3," which you can probably find for 15 quid.
-
netjakI can definitely say that it does add to the lifespan of DW3, and that it is definitely worth a rental if you have the original and enjoyed playing it, maybe even worth buying if you can find it for under $20, like I did.
-
Game InformerThis isn't new as much as it is an expansion pack through and through. [Jan 2003, p.90]
-
It's aimed at hardcore Dynasty afficionados... more of the same Dynasty brawling, but it's discount price makes it easy on the wallet. [Feb 2003, p.135]
-
PSM MagazineIsn't exactly a new game, [but] it is one of the coolest budget titles around. [Jan 2003, p.40]
