It's more of the same plus one - you've just got to stick with it for a while until the action really picks up.
  2. If you can look past the iffy graphics, Drakengard 2 has a lot to enjoy. The fighting is fun and has enough variety to avoid monotony, so give it at least a cursory look.
  3. 80
There is an engaging story and lots of new moves to learn.
  4. It's repetitive and technically deficient, but the fact that they managed to squeeze this concept onto a console woefully inadequate for it and still come out with a fun game at all is surprising, and provides hope for the future.

The first Drakengard recieved a cult following more on story than anything else and the tradition continues with D2. Featuring some very dark and mature themes that are even a bit disturbing at times.

It made all good aspects of Drakengard's tedious gameplay actually playable and good, but completely messed up all enemy encounters. Speaking of enemies, their variety is even more slim here than in Drakengard 1. However does the Story save the game from catastrophe? Yes and No. Keep in mind that this game was not directed by Yoko Taro and therefore seems to misunderstand the Drakengard universe and its characters, especially Caim. If you are looking for a Love Story with well written characters than this game is yours. If you are looking for Drakengard then you won't find it. Drakengard has always been dark and harsh, this game reflects none of that at all. Therefore it is not bad as a standalone, but bad as a Drakengard. Full Review »

Fantastic game with the best writing, story, characters, and soundtrack in the entire series.
