Many of the characters that are included in this game are awkward to control or just plain boring. The gameplay itslef is fairly bare bones. [Holiday 2004, p.115]

It feels incredibly rushed. From the recycled visuals to the middling audio, I couldn’t help but shake the feeling that Capcom Fighting Evolution was shoved out too soon.
-
games(TM)It’s almost as though Jam can’t decide what kind of fighting game it wants to be, thanks to a dramatic clash of styles in terms of both combat and visuals. [March 2005, p.118]

netjakAn absolute mess.
-
A massive disappointment.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineAs bad as the roster is, the game itself is fine, and by fine I mean you couldn't have possibly made it more boring. [Jan 2005, p.109]
-
GMR MagazineWhile this may at first seem like a great way to pit all of Capcom's best fighters against each other, in reality it makes for an unbalanced mess. [Jan 2005, p.102]
-
Capcom should be ashamed to put Ryu and other Street Fighter characters in there; as for the other two titles, what have they got on Street Fighter? Not even die hard fans would enjoy this title.
-
There is no reason to buy or play this game. It’s a thin, worthless piece of spam on a hook that will hopefully be gobbled up by the countless better games available this holiday season. Even if you get nothing for Christmas, be thankful you didn’t get this.

Nov 17, 2021Capcom Fighting Evolution is a great concept that was executed very poorly and it will not be worth your time.

[Anonymous]Feb 14, 2005The quotes from Armchair Empire and Gamer Feed are spot on. If I weren't such a fan of the genre and company I would have rated it a 6.
