Even though Avengers and Speed Rumbler make me twitch with anger when I play them, it's still fun to show to friends how bad some games from the "old-school" era really were, and then load up Super Turbo to purify ourselves.
-
There are more than a handful of genuinely entertaining titles found here that will return your investment ten fold in fun.
-
For $20, there are plenty of options for any gamer-Greatest Hits and Platinum titles, for instance-but Capcom's collections are a welcome return to gaming's roots, and Vol. II outshines its predecessors in bringing once-forgotten games back into the spotlight.
-
Capcom Classics Collection volume 2 is not the hit-loaded package one would expect, but it is still a must-own for fighting gamers and fans of old-school co-op gaming.
-
PSM3 Magazine UKRetro goodness - with only a few stinkers. Bliss. [Mar 2007, p.78]
-
PSM MagazineFactor in the ability to save in any game at any time and you have yourself another value-packed retro set that's equal parts entertainment and history lesson. [Holiday 2006, p.80]
-
If you’re not a fan of side-scrolling brawlers you may not find this collection quite as entertaining. There are other genres within the collection, but the beat ‘em ups are definitely what shine the brightest.
-
It may not be as classic as its name implies but this collection is longer on fun than you may expect. If it were a $30.00, $40.00, or $50.00 game it would be a no-go, but at $20.00 this is well worth it.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineAlso, these types of games are generally better suited for the PSP to begin with. Don't get the wrong idea; it's still a very good collection of games. [Nov. 2006, p.118]
-
As far as genre goes, this collection is weighed heavily towards shoot-‘em-ups and brawlers. Fans of those two genres, or of those specific games, will undoubtedly be delighted with what’s on offer here. However, those hoping for a healthy mix of this ‘n that like the first collection are bound to be disappointed.
-
And for those who prefer physical possessions to digitized property, collections like this will always have a place on the shelf.
-
Capcom Classics Collection 2 isn't as hit-driven as the first game, but the hits that are present hit very hard, indeed.
-
No, it's not a universally awesome list, but CCC is certainly packed with enough gems that it justifies the measly $20 entry price. And in the end, that's what it all comes down to: bang for the buck. CCC has plenty of it.
-
At less than £1 a game, there’s plenty of opportunity to get your money’s worth, although don’t expect to be bowled over by the gameplay – this is still strictly a package for nostalgics and those with a keen interest in gaming’s history, in the books for which Capcom certainly deserves a second chapter.
-
Not quite the best game line-up ever, but the emulation and presentation are so well done it actually makes the games more enjoyable than rival compilations.
-
This collection offers up a wide range of brawlers and shooters from days long gone, but sadly, not many of these are all that memorable.
-
CCC Vol. 2 is only 20 bucks, which comes to $1 a game. Considering all of the classic arcade gameplay on this disc, it's an excellent value. We're not sure Capcom has enough material for yet another arcade collection, but if this is the last, then they'll have gone out on a high note.
-
Sure, not everything here is a winner, but there's enough good stuff that the flops are a sort of bonus rather than a nuisance.
-
With excellent high-level production values, superb emulation, and an easy to use interface, Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 should please most retro Capcom fans.
-
Official Playstation 2 Magazine UKA superb package with great games and some truly inspired extras - and a real trip down memory lane for some of us. [Mar 2007, p.94]
-
Overall, this is a none too shabby collection. The decision to buy will depend on your desire to have a true arcade version of the games and how sentimentally attached you are to each title.
-
While I can understand the financial reasoning behind milking the Capcom back catalogue for two volumes, as a fan I'd much rather have had one all killer, no filler compilation with Street Fighter II, Ghost 'n Goblins, Commando, 1941 and Strider all in one place.
-
Games Master UKNot an A-grade bundle, but fairly sturdy stuff for fans of the period. [Mar 2007, p.82]
-
AceGamezIt's a real mixture of a couple of greats, some good, some not too good and a couple that are downright atrocious!
