The greatest thing about Bass Strike is the Sony PS2 game controller. Yes, it's the same as it ever was, but -- finally -- the right analog stick serves as a near perfect dupe for a fishing rod's reel.

This is a curiously addictive game, and with the various modes offered, you'll be busy hauling bass and making a name for yourself in no time. Just don't forget to grow out those sideburns.

Bass Strike’s main ailment seems to be its rather delicate control system...Sensitive? It’s like a freshly exposed groin wound; you move too quickly and the fish is off, you wind in too slowly and the – fish – is – off.

To put it bluntly, the frustrating controls ruin what would have been a perfectly good fishing game.

Most of the time, it's duller than a bread knife, and even when it's supposed to be exciting, it's just tedious.
