The greatest thing about Bass Strike is the Sony PS2 game controller. Yes, it's the same as it ever was, but -- finally -- the right analog stick serves as a near perfect dupe for a fishing rod's reel.
-
This is a curiously addictive game, and with the various modes offered, you'll be busy hauling bass and making a name for yourself in no time. Just don't forget to grow out those sideburns.
-
Game InformerCatching fish is less fun than in "Sega Bass Fishing 2," even though managing the drag settings on your reel can be demanding. [Nov 2001, p.112]
-
Worth playing.
-
It's not the best fishing game ever made by any means, but it more than serves its purpose. It's fun and can be addictive.
-
The clipping is absolutely horrible, particularly with the fish.
-
An above average fishing game. Virtual Anglers will find plenty to like here.
-
Bass Strikes main ailment seems to be its rather delicate control system...Sensitive? Its like a freshly exposed groin wound; you move too quickly and the fish is off, you wind in too slowly and the fish is off.
-
To put it bluntly, the frustrating controls ruin what would have been a perfectly good fishing game.
-
Most of the time, it's duller than a bread knife, and even when it's supposed to be exciting, it's just tedious.
-
Official U.S. Playstation MagazineThe graphics certainly don't help any. Really, for a PS2 game, they're an embarrassment. [Dec 2001, p.161]
