  1. Once again delivers solid gameplay mechanics mixed in with numerous unlockable features and plenty of racing potential.
  2. 92
Easily the best ATV racer in existence and it also represents a sizeable, appreciated step forward for the franchise and online console gaming in general.

In addition to virtually lag free racing (broadband), there's full support for player rankings, chat, voice, and even clans. [Jan 2005, p.74]
  4. Really combines all of the necessary ingredients to make a solid online mode.

While ATV Offroad Fury 3 has limited, basic modes, it really does shine when it comes down to the raw gameplay.
  6. By far the best of the series, and it never seems to get old. It is one of those games that you can load up and just have a damn good fun time with.
  7. A solid racing title with great environments, ATV Offroad Fury 3 features options galore and challenge.
  8. The massive environments and familiar textures are all along for the ride, and there are some nifty environmental effects like snow, rain, dust, and mud to contend with.
  9. Plenty of variety and a wild sense of speed combined with tight control equals fun for the whole family.
  10. Enough like its predecessors that if ATV or ATV 2 didn't appeal to you, then ATV 3 isn't likely to change your mind. However, ATV fans will be quite happy with the latest game in the series.
  11. A fine ATV racing title with enough modes to please gamers for many hours, excellent online with little lag, a respectable graphics engine and decent soundtrack.
  12. As far as audio goes, the game is a mixed bag of licensed music.

Collision detection between ATVs can be a little strange at times especially in the mini-games.

Has its moments, but in the end it is just another driving game. Jumping around the tracks is fun for a while, but there is little incentive to keep on playing. [Apr 2006]

A more robust career mode with sponsorships, cash prizes, and a tournament-style atmosphere with rivalries would be nice as well, but those in the mood for a challenging, fast-paced racer -- online or off -- won't be disappointed.
  16. While the single-player modes are merely OK is in its multiplayer and online modes that this third Offroad Fury game earns its worth.

The online experience was definitely the most fun aspect of game as a whole. Over a broadband connection lag was practically non-existent, but the biggest hook is racing against other non-CPU riders.
  18. Fast and frenetic, ATVOF3 is a great title, so much so that we can forgive the occasional restart from behind an unmovable obstacle. [Jan 2005, p.87]
  19. Taking an obvious cue from Xbox Live, the online mode is seriously user-friendly, providing tons of community-building tools—the polar opposite of Offroad Fury 2's laughable online attempt.
  20. The framerate is pretty good, but occasionally it really gets hiccupy when there’s too much going on, and it can get frustrating, especially if it happens mid-jump or while you’re preloading, which can really screw up your timing.
  21. It’s a good game but it doesn’t try to do anything to make the series better, everything is simply re-treading old ground.
  22. I will repeat this game is fun for all ages. I truly recommend it.
  23. A more well-rounded game than either of its predecessors, and though it's unlikely to convert those who weren't impressed with past installments, fans of the first two games should find plenty to like here.

Diehards may call foul, but the looser grip on reality really ups the fun quotient. [Jan 2005, p.134]
  25. One gripe: If you're in last and have no desire to finish the race, there isn't an option for a quick restart. You either have to finish or go to one of the opening menus. Yuck.
  26. It's not the most original game in the world, and some of the game's unbalanced difficulty will leave you kicking up more than dirt, but in general, it's still a focused, entertaining ride, offline and on.

A game that is undoubtedly the best of the bunch although it's not very different than the last one. I would rename this game, "ATV Offroad Fury Two-and-a-Half."
  28. 70
Though the offline game will only satisfy the most hardcore four-wheeling fan, the online racing makes up for most faults.

    Where's the fury? I just don't feel the passion. [Jan 2005, p.122]

The developers have managed to squeeze some extra mileage out of the tired "extreme sports" format with a solid racing engine and a trick/combo that will have you linking more tricks together than a prostitute at Charlie Sheen's Playa's Ball.
  31. Sure, the offline mode can get old fast, but arcade racing fans with an internet-ready PS2 will find that the title's playability grows almost exponentially when experienced with a group of other human beings.
  32. There's no standout reason to upgrade from previous editions. But if you're new to backside-blistering fun on four wheels, Fury 3 is worth a blast. [PSW]
  33. There’s isn’t much realism, most of the graphics and attention to detail are poor and you won’t be feeling the wind rush through your hair anytime soon, but for sheer multiplayer fun you could do a lot worse than give this a go.
  34. 60
ATV Offroad Fury 3 has one of the most complete set of online options seen a PS2 racing game. Excellent features like ranking, messaging and downloadable ghosts provide all the community extras to go with the main events that support up to six-players.
  35. If you're looking for an ATV game that offers solid arcade-style gameplay, a wide range of events and decent offline multiplayer options, Offroad Fury 3 does the job.
  36. Amusing multiplayer mini-games such as basketball, soccer and ice hockey are enjoyable diversions.
  37. But when ATV Offroad Fury 2 is every bit as good – even graphically, and extremely inexpensive because of its age, there's very little reason to get this version.

The cons are the high difficulty and the really annoying fact that you drop from your ATV that easily. Normally at games you survive much more than in reality, in this game however I am sure there are many moves and almost-crashes were in reality you would stay on the ATV and continue the ride, while in the game you fall down and fall back from the competitors.
