The levels are short and there are lots of them (about 40 total, not counting bonus levels), the weapons are varied as are the aliens, the locales are well-drawn and fun, and the screen is almost continually packed with stuff dying. What more could you want in escapist arcade entertainment?
-
While the game does have its sophisticated side, it's pretty much nonstop action. There are a few games on my hard drive that are perfect for when I've only got fifteen minutes to kill and Enforcer is right at the top of the list.
-
A great fast-paced action (but repetitive) game that pays homage to a number of arcade games and will probably show up on the console side of the industry.
-
Fun as hell to play.
-
GamePowerThough not as groundbreaking as the original X-COM was when it first appeared, Enforcer is a damn fun romp, nevertheless.
-
Although it's not a perfect game by any means (I don't think we've found one yet), it's old-skool fun at its best. Lock and load baby -- it's time to save humanity one more time.
-
The voice acting is pure camp. The sad thing is that the camp gets old real fast and I was ready to enforce that twit long before the game was over.
-
Despite a few small design quirks, this is one release I found I just could not stop playing from the moment it was installed on my hard drive. I heartily recommend it to all of you who want an adrenaline rush of the highest order.
-
What it lacks in variety, it tries to make up in quantity. Speaking of quantity, I've already mentioned that you'll meet gazillions of enemies along the way.
-
It's as mindless of a shooter as they come, and you can't help but be disappointed at the thought of this, in light of the series' roots as a mentally stimulating strategy game.
-
PC GamerIf you can turn off your brain, Enforcer can be fun for 20-minute sessions. [July 2001, p.73]
-
All the complexity and depth of a frying pan.
-
A seriously retro-minded and generally uninspired project.
-
Daily RadarIn a repetitive mind numbing kill-a-thon manner, it's a good time. Is it a $30 (120 quarters) good time? No.
-
This might be a good example of what some teenager could do with the Unreal engine, a Commodore 64 and 2 sticks of chewing gum, but it's a poor example of a good game.
