To be clear, there’s a lot of space in this world for gentle, low-impact games. Wytchwood isn’t a bad game because it’s easier than Dark Souls. Difficulty is not the only reason to play a game. But Wytchwood does let the player down with such a vague and uninteresting story. A game needs a hook, and this story ain’t it. Crafting games make me uniquely aware of how much time I am wasting by playing them. But in the end, I like to look back at the little work of art I made by building a house, or a city, or a space station. In Wytchwood I am just collecting ingredients because the game told me to collect those ingredients. It’s an attractive enough game, but it needs something else substantial.

  1. This year has blessed us with games that radiate care, where you can tell that the people who made it really loved the process of making it. Wytchwood is like opening a hand-drawn pop-up book and finding a cheeky little hag inside, throwing snares at living pumpkins and yelling, "I'll chop you good!" at giggling little changeling mushrooms. And who wouldn't want to tick "chop annoying little mushroom good" off a to-do list? [RPS Bestest Bests]

Gameplay story was slipt up into three parts and really didn't take too long to complete, but all the different characters had hilarious stories with each quest. This game is for sure primarily a story game where you craft things here and there as you go. Full Review »

    - crafting. this is by the the heart of game and it's done very badly. there is no progression, all of your abilities were told in act 1 and there is no significant changes throughout the game. it becomes boring very fast
    - convenient. it is totally inconvenient to play. you can't make marks on map, you can't know about what i will get if i'll kill some monster, you don't have some sort of bestiary
-story. the plot is very simple and there are no choices in the story. you can't make decision and stories itself a linear and poor
    - gameplay. there is no gameplay. you don't have progression, there is no exploration, there is no motivation to do some moves. i would say it is like a demo version of potentially cool game, but devs throw it and leave it as is, unfinished and weak
