Mar 7, 2024Despite being stuck in development hell for years, Wrath: Aeon of Ruin more or less achieves what it meant to and poses itself as a history course for the FPS genre by taking the older gamers to the past and bringing the past to the newer gamers.
-
Mar 4, 2024WRATH: Aeon of Ruin channels the original Quake and fills its levels with interesting guns and gross enemies. Combat feels great - especially the shotgun - and there's a lot of content to sink your teeth into, though it feels a little formulaic by the end. The limited save system is quite the misstep, but doesn't detract from the fun too much.
-
Mar 1, 2024Wrath: Aeon of Ruin is still an incredibly solid start for KillPixel, and after a few patches it will surely flourish even more.
-
Mar 26, 2024Retro FPS builds on nostalgia and pure action, but could have offered more variability. Still, it's not a bad choice.
-
Feb 27, 2024If you approach Wrath: Aeon of Ruin with no expectations beyond a violent way to kill a few hours, then there is fun to be had.
-
Feb 27, 2024KillPixel's shooter demonstrates breathtaking ambition in its 3D level design, but that can come at the cost of pacing and fun.

Mar 7, 2021The FPS, yet using a particularly aging engine, therefore takes all the codes of its ancestors with bravery to allow players to evolve in levels built with intelligence, to participate in joyful and dynamic clashes and to observe sublime panoramas. However, taking the old formula literally, the title is sorely lacking in identity. We will then have to face a universe that we have already crossed 100 times. Unfortunately, this is not the only problem with retro production. The title also suffers from a certain repetition, the fault of a particularly shy bestiary. [Early Access Review = 75]

Feb 27, 2024Wrath Colon Aeon Of Ruin could tighten up a few things here and there, and it could have been a bit more outlandish, and it should probably not have led with some of its drabbest levels. But where many of its peers merely ape the loud and obnoxious reputation 90s FPS games had, it's a solid shooter that remembers how they actually played and why they worked.
