Aug 28, 2024World of Warcraft: The War Within represents a strong start for the worldsoul saga and brings with it many improvements and numerous new features that will advance WoW in general.

Sep 5, 2024The expansion was so close to perfect. If it wasn't for the update that Blizzard released where they went from undertuning everything to overtuning it, the expansion would have been perfection. The quests are fun, Hero Talents provide lots of cool options, and the music really makes the areas of Khaz Algar magical and threatening, all at the same time. Admittedly, the story for this expansion could have done with being a little longer, as it felt quite short overall compared to previous expansions. However, there is still time for them to add more in future patches.
-
Sep 23, 2024It took a while, but Blizzard has once again proven why it is the king of MMORPGs. The War Within is a combination of good decisions, variety and fun mixed with a great story and new playable content.
-
Sep 18, 2024In the end, The War Within is the expansion that WoW needed. It finally feels like Blizzard is starting to listen to their players. If you used to be a player and enjoyed the first expansions, I recommend giving this latest addition a try. After years of lacklustre content, I’m overjoyed that what was once one of my favorite games has been returned to a state where playing is fun again.

Sep 16, 2024The War Within heralds a return to that Warcraft vibe we've been craving for many years. It's hard to speak too soon without seeing how the expansion pack does in MMOs, but if they can keep this momentum going, we may be facing one of the best expansions of WoW.
-
Sep 13, 2024The War Within is the best World of Warcraft has been on all fronts in many years, and possibly ever. When returning franchise creative director Chris Metzen got on stage at BlizzCon and said it was time to come home, he really wasn't just stringing us along. The writing is strong. The gameplay is strong. The music and zone design are exceptional even by Blizzard standards. The endgame loop feels good and offers tons of satisfying ways to progress, including more appropriately difficult and rewarding solo content than ever. The level 80 experience has some wonky tuning and annoying bugs, but I trust Blizzard to get that ironed out in due time. Somehow, this two-decade-old MMO feels fresh and thrilling again.
-
Sep 12, 2024Overall, we are left with one of the very best expansions the 20-year-old online game has received.
-
Sep 9, 2024If this is how The Worldsoul Saga is kicking off, then this new WoW era will be its best yet. And if you’re thinking about returning to Azeroth, there is seriously no better time because The War Within is just that good.
-
Sep 4, 2024World of Warcraft: The War Within is a breath of fresh air. The expansion feels like it has put World of Warcraft back on track after a few years of sub-par storytelling, and the gameplay additions like Delves also add quite a bit to look forward to for new players.
-
Sep 3, 2024The War Within marks not only the start of The Worldsoul Saga, but the beginning of what seems like a new era of WoW. All the old staples--Mythic+ dungeons, raids, PvP, world quests-- are still there, but the game's newfound focus on letting you play how you want to play, rather than forcing you to play a certain way, makes it a far more enjoyable experience. Blizzard is finally meeting players where they are, not where it wants them to be, and that means whether you like to focus on one character or play many--solo or with a guild--there is something here for you. The War Within is WoW at its most approachable, and it's all the better for it.
-
Aug 28, 2024It’s also the most welcoming a WoW expansion has ever been before. This is the start of a new story - one steeped in the long history of WoW to be sure, but one that makes a huge effort to catch new players up. Its brisk story supports new players too by asking for a small investment upfront and giving them ample opportunity to constantly re-invest. If you’re just starting out or returning without the safety net of your old clan, it’s easier than ever to be a solo player and not feel left behind. There’s so much consideration towards renewing WoW, rather than becoming further entrenched in the wants and whims of the most hardcore players. I imagine these weren’t easy choices to make, but I can see the long game that begins here in The War Within, and I’m more excited than ever for the journey ahead.

Oct 1, 2024Perhaps PVP has been left a little behind (although the quests that encourage localized world PVP are very good) and we have encountered the typical class balance flaws that are already being improved, but Blizzard certainly has everything to get back on the path to success with this expansion...Now we just have to hope that the content updates are regular and that, as promised, we don't have to wait two years for the next expansion, Midnight, returning even more vitality to World of Warcraft, which, 20 years later, seems to be entering another great era.
-
Oct 1, 2024Blizzard relentlessly addresses all points of criticism of Dragonflight and significantly improves the experience for casual players
-
Sep 25, 2024Maintaining a live service for 20 years is challenging enough, but continuously improving and showing a better version over that time is even harder. World of Warcraft has achieved that difficult feat, and even with the release of its 10th expansion, it continues to evolve.
-
Sep 15, 2024World of Warcraft isn't overturned or revolutionized by The War Within, but that's okay. The Activision Blizzard MMORPG lives in a world of its own, with loyal players who see it as a second home and appreciate the timely innovations, the increase in quality of life and certain simplifications of old mechanics, but without exaggerating. The simple and colorful aesthetics are untouched, as are the cornerstones, missions, and many other gameplay elements that now distinguish the title from its competitors. The War Within doesn't want to eradicate these elements: sometimes it evolves them, like with Dynamic Flight and the consequent vertical layering of the maps. Or like with the Delves, minor dungeons suitable for hit-and-run sessions and perfect for leveling up in peace. Other times, however, it indulges them even if it modifies them, like with the Heroic Talents that deepen the builds without changing them completely. As we wait for the next expansions of the Worldsoul Saga, the future of World of Warcraft seems increasingly bright and inviting, even if it will unfold in the underground depths of Azeroth.
-
Sep 16, 2024All in all, The War Within has been a banger of an expansion so far. The storytelling feels well done and has been paying off on moments that have been building for years. The dungeon and raiding scene is off and running and fun so far. Lastly, delves have a solid foundation that needs to be tweaked to make them the jewel they can be. I had thought it would be an impossible task to surpass Dragonflight, but The War Within may end up doing that.
-
Sep 7, 2024The War Within kickstarts the Worldsoul Saga trilogy in style and offers tons of new and useful mechanisms to the gameplay, welcoming both old and new players to its massive world and promising true potential for the future of the franchise.
-
Sep 5, 2024With The War Within, World of Warcraft is enjoying a third youth. Like Cataclysm in its time, it modernizes the MMORPG formula in a very competitive environment. No major revolution, but an improvement in thickness of the foundations put in place by Dragonflight: this is how The War Within shines. Enough to wait for the next updates, and of course the other two expansions of the saga, with unprecedented impatience.
-
Sep 3, 2024With The War Within,Blizzard made a great start to the new adventure they call Worldsoul Saga and managed to give a strong message. “We are still here and still strong.”
-
Oct 21, 2024The War Within is a very solid expansion that delivers the expected dose of new content alongside some welcome innovations. Most notably, the account-wide systems that enable seamless alt gameplay are a highly appreciated change. Delves are fun, and both raids and dungeons work well. While it's still early to fully assess everything, it’s clear that The War Within is worth recommending and playing.
-
Sep 26, 2024In regards to its content, The War Within is the best expansion for WoW to date. The story is fantastic, the music incredible, and on top of the group-based content fans have come to expect, from raids to battlegrounds to arena battles and mythic dungeons, the new Delves finally offer a great opportunity for smaller teams, lone wolves and casual players to make meaningful progress, get stronger, master their class and receive powerful gear. Warbands make powering up and gearing new characters easier than ever. Granted, these are all features, which other MMOs have been offering for years in some form or another, but if your heart beats for Azeroth, you may not be interested in any alternatives. Issues such as deleted guild banks and balancing problems with the crafting system, classes, hero talents and delves are a source of frustration. Still, now is a great time to go on a(nother) trip to Azeroth, even or especially when you don't have as much time to play as you did 20 years ago.
-
Sep 17, 2024World Of Warcraft: The War Within is the first brick in Blizzard's MMORPG revival. You can sense the Californian studio's intentions and feel the first effects in-game, but the storytelling is clearly not up to scratch. The game is gradually moving away from pure multiplayer, and is increasingly devoting itself to single-player content, which will appeal to those who prefer to play on their own or in a casual setting, without putting pressure on hardcore gamers.
-
Sep 13, 2024World of Warcraft The War Within is an excellent start to The World Soul Saga and I’m genuinely interested to see where the story goes next. Hero Talents add some interesting effects and skills to specific classes, which adds a greater variety of how you can play your character, and the narrative, while straightforward, is a lot of fun. The War Within has made me love MMORPGs again, and if Blizzard Entertainment keeps going in this direction, I can see myself playing this game for years to come.
-
Sep 11, 2024A good starting point for something bigger, a reliable and more welcoming expansion than ever, but certainly not innovative.
-
Sep 9, 2024World of Warcraft turns 20 years old this year, and despite that, the aging MMORPG is finding its footing again after years of controversial writing and gameplay systems. The War Within continues Dragonflight's positive upward trajectory, with some of the best story telling the genre has ever seen. But big questions remain over some of its systems, and the cadence of updates over time will be what truly determines The War Within's legacy.
-
Sep 7, 2024The War Within isn't a groundbreaking, surprising, or original expansion, but it's a good jumping-off point for something bigger. It uses subtle improvements to smooth out and tighten up World of Warcraft's traditional gameplay in all the right places, gently evolving it and making it feel more familiar and welcoming than ever, for veterans and newcomers alike.
-
Sep 5, 2024The War Within is not a revolution, but a carefully planned evolution leading the game in a new direction. It's impossible to predict wether World of Wacraft will reclaim its MMO throne. The game now is very good but only time will tell if Blizzard is capable of keeping it this way.
-
Sep 4, 2024The War Within is a decent start to the all-new Worldsoul Saga with an engaging story, some good character development and a very promising villain. Content wise it's more of the same, quality of life improvement notwithstanding: same gameplay loop, same quest design, same issues with balancing and a few new features, such as Delves and Hero Talents, that doesn't really add much to WoW as we know it.
-
Sep 3, 2024The War Within continues World of Warcraft's comeback trajectory with a war worth fighting for Horde and Alliance alike. While this expansion isn't groundbreaking, it does do a great job of setting the stage for the Worldsoul Saga.
-
Sep 3, 2024The War Within offers more of the same, although the setting is different. But it's hard not to get invested in helping these stone dwarves, who are fully aware of their limited lifespan.
-
Aug 30, 2024Despite its shockingly short story, World of Warcraft: The War Within is the most confident and slick Blizzard's MMO has been in years.
-
Aug 29, 2024Even if I can't see myself logging into WoW every day, The War Within's campaign satisfied the urge to get lost in Blizzard's big fantasy world again. The story will continue as major updates happen and that might be enough to keep me hanging on until the end of the trilogy. But anything past that is a bottomless chasm that I'm happy to skip over, unless Blizzard finds a way to blend its powerful storytelling with a grind that doesn't drain the joy out of its world.
-
Aug 28, 2024We are admittedly right at the beginning of The War Within’s two-year life cycle, but this is the best that WoW has been performing in years. While Blizzard will surely continue to grapple with Warcraft’s place in the modern gaming landscape, especially ahead of WoW’s 20th anniversary, the game feels more relevant than it has in a long time.

Oct 21, 2024Old and new players will find a fantastic World of Warcraft experience with an epic story, funny action, and tons of secrets and great stories that reminded you why this Blizzard's game is one of the best in history. [Recommended]

Sep 9, 2024I can confidently say WoW is back. Well, it was back in Dragonflight, but it’s extra back now. Not only does The War Within make the player experience better with great additions like Warbands and Follower Dungeons, but it also demonstrates that Blizzard isn’t afraid to keep refining good ideas like Hero Talents or reworking those that may have failed previously and molded them into nuggets of fun and flavor like Delves. If this is just the start of what to expect with Warcraft in the era of The Worldsoul Saga, then I’m eager to stick around and see where these new adventures on Azeroth take us next.
