    An excellent prequel. Sporadically I find myself listening to the music that plays during the last monologue of the game, and with that I go back to that moment. It's definitely more action packed than The New Order, which may be the reason why I see some dudes ranking it higher than TNO but, for me, TNO takes it all for the impeccable plot.

    i dont play them cuz normal they not good
    but i finished this game & its nice
    its not prefect
    enemy AI is weak
    but its good game overall

    Pretty much just a large DLC for Wolfenstein The New Order, but with enough content to warrant its own game. Loved that the went back to some of the zombie stuff that was in Return to Castle Wolfenstein. A little short to really get invested in, but better too short than too long imo

    I am a big fan of the Wolfenstein series and when I finished Wolfenstein: The New Order, I thought that was it for a while. But then, out of the blue, came Wolfenstein: The Old Blood.

    This game takes place in the events before The New Order, in an alternative history. It is 1946 and you still have a chance to stop Nazi Germany from winning the war. The story itself is a little disappointing and, by far, the weakest in the series. It is just about infiltrating Castle Wolfenstein and obtain a top-secret folder which reveals the location of a German scientist and mastermind, General Deathshead and some sort of secret special weapon.

    Deathshead is the one responsible for developing superweapons that give Germany the advantage in the war, eventually winning it. You learn that a secret weapon is being produced and you set out to destroy it. It eventually appears to be some kind of zombie-creating gas. In the end, you find the weapon, which spawned/produced some sort of abomination monster thing, and, of course, murder his ass.

    In the core, this game is just Wolfenstein: The New Order. It plays exactly the same and follows the same mechanics, controls, skill system, collectibles and cover. The exception is the pipe, which you can use as one big melee weapon, or as two nun chuck-like bars to fight dual handed.

    The campaign in Wolfenstein: The Blood is a little short for my liking, for the simple story this game has, it could be expected, but still I hoped for a little more. For me, it redeemed itself with the excellent cut scenes the game offers, those enhanced the story dramatically.

    In terms of graphics, they are the same as The New Order, but a little more polished. The explosions and bullet impacts have improved tough. Also, when talking pixels, I really liked the various Nightmare levels in which you play in 3D first person of the game, trough the pixelated old-school levels of the Wolfenstein 3D game. It was really fun to see a highly polished gun, firing on 2D pixels. The Sound design is the same as the original game.

    What sets this game apart is its excellent combat encounters. The action is even better in this game than in The New Order. Fights are challenging, some new enemies are introduced like Nazi zombies (yeah boy) and overall, it just feels a lot more intense and balanced out. There are some stealth sections, which actually work, in comparison to The New Order, and the next moment, you go guns blazing, like you are used to.

    The level design is excellent in Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Combine this with the fantastic combat, as described earlier, and you are good to go. Every level was fun to play and felt rewarding. I was just really pleasantly surprised when scouring trough, the levels and the ease in which you go through them.
    The new added challenge maps are also a lot of fun to play and, although hard as bricks, they are doable with the right practice. I think the most fun I had with this game, came from the challenges.

    Overall, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood is a nice addition to the series and, so far, the best in terms of combat, in my honest opinion.

The new order reboot of the saga was an explosive and fun new experience, but it lacked that mystical old castle filled with Nazis, zombies and dark magic secrets that the 2001 classic had.     Some stealth parts are too unforgiving on the hardest difficulties, and the checkpoint system makes for some repetitive shooting galleries as after some heavy encounters with tough enemies, the last standing Nazi would kill you, so you have to re-run the whole level. There is no waypoint, that's actually cool, but sometimes you get stuck not knowing what to do.

    Despite those details, Wolfenstein Old Blood is a masterpiece. The story and villains are memorable, and BJ blazkowitz never losses his charm or his passion for killing Nazis.    … Expand

    Wolfenstein the new order without the fat and an amazing first point to play it. don't take this the wrong way, I think the fat in the Wolfenstein new order is what made it special and my favourite is fps of all time but for work gameplay and amazing just about everything this is also a good choice if you want to be friends to play it.     Just a very well done expansion pack. Fantastic gun play/really well done, tight level design. Incredibly refreshing playing this after Wolfenstein 2. Wolfenstein 2 should have taken more notes from this in relationship to level design, honestly.

    A really good prequel to an already amazing first game. The reboot of the series is amazing. This one is short and sweet. Lots of action and not a lot of story. Just enough to make it interesting. Graphics and audio were good as well.

От чего конечно я ловлю нотки ностальгии, которой тут можно поймать много... Но это не то... В первой части было такое разнообразие, что это был уровень Сони... А тут обычный КоД и батла

    Сюжет.... Твою мать... Где он...? Они пропили сценариста... Я прошел пол игры, и да... Сюжет тут лучше чем в любой батле и чем в любом КоДе... Но вот тайтанфул 2 уже будет по лучше. Тут от сюжета огрызок какой-то... Он есть чтобы... Чтобы была причина забраться в замок и выбраться, и всё...

    Персонажей нет как а первой части крутых... В первой я готов о каждом тебе написать пару А4 о его охрененной оригинальности... А тут персонажей просто нет...

    Сам Бласко... Ну он зелёный... Это прямо видно что он молодой и зелёный... Игра спин офф, предыстория первой части... Но она какой-то ни о чем.

    Игра про геймплей, это дум в чистом виде практически... Ну и отсылочки для олдов=) Я заценил=)

    Good as DLC, but not so detailed and dramatic as The New Order. Probably, devs should make this just like Plologue for TNO.

    I love everything about this game, almost wish it was long. And had come out before the new order. Not a fan of when series pull a George Lucas star was timeline, I would say play this before the new order.

    A short but sweet little masterpiece. It’s timeless Nazi killing fun with impeccable art direction and shooting mechanics that are so damn good that they border on Devine. Don’t let the 5 hour campaign fool you. This game is hugely replayable with an instant action arcade mode and advanced ai that makes each play through feel unique. It’s not the flashiest FPS out there but underneath theA short but sweet little masterpiece. It’s timeless Nazi killing fun with impeccable art direction and shooting mechanics that are so damn good that they border on Devine. Don’t let the 5 hour campaign fool you. Gameplay (including gunplay, weapons, enemies) are still on a very high level, worth playing even today. As I wrote story is not that thrilling as it was before, but there are strong, touching moments and I do not expect much more from FPS game. Campaing could be a little bitVery good, sometimes great shooter with short, interesting, but not that exciting as in The New Order campaign. Gameplay (including gunplay, weapons, enemies) are still on a very high level, worth playing even today. As I wrote story is not that thrilling as it was before, but there are strong, touching moments and I do not expect much more from FPS game. Campaing could be a little bit longer. Location are diversed, but remarkable moments (like mission in court in The New Collosus) are missing.     It is not a DLC but a game on its own. Awesome prequel to the awesome Wolfenstein: The New Order. Worth It!

    Not as good as The New Order but its still pretty good, fun, sadly short, its one of the better games with zombies. Maybe should have been free expansion or lower price than it is but its not big of a deal now.

    An excellent elaborated plot, flavored with a strong atmosphere and beautiful graphics of the alternative World after the WWII. A lot of hard and juicy game-play, flavored with sparkling sarcasm of the game's heroes. Cool reinforced concrete action game... It's only one is a pity: The Old Blood is short.

Out of all the new wolfenstien games (that iv played) old blood has wormed its way to be my favorite Despite its short length, what did old blood do right that the rest didn't seem to get ? even if this series has nothing i would call a "Bad" entry this one just dose a lot more right then its predecessor and sequels BUT if they just made this the prologue to the new order it would have made the new order a better game and longer , rather than having 2 fairly short games why not combine the 2 ? i know technically this is stand alone dlc but my gripe is still valid

    Story: The old blood is to wolfenstien what rouge squadron is to the star wars franchise. a dangerous suicide mission for the blueprints to help take down an impenetrable fortress. except its not sucide for BJ blaskovitch because hes literally unkillable and hes unwavering witch is a contrast to the rest of the games but more on them later. oh and nazi zombies show up in the latter half cause the nazis want some ancient magic ( how cliche) at least these zombies are actually threatening and manage to do some damage compared to other games. the story is basically a vehicle for insanity and for this series im ok with that

    World building: nothing like showing the world for what ot looked like before to add to the world , every thing has this steampunkish ascetic to it and old forms of fire arms show up , the blot action rifle was my favorite and its design fits really well in this world, its still a brutal unforgiving world but it feels more grounded in this iteration and that i appreciated , they took a step back and looked at the bigger picture. an event pave the way for another event and if you appreciate history like i do i think you will appreciate the world building this game dose more than usual . i do think that the grey areas of morality dont really work to well in these games, humanizing the enemy is cool and all but because of Bj it feels redundant.
    World building: 8.2/10

    Graphics: This game Looks great even better than the new order , the art team clearly did a good job here and took inspiration from old castle architecture , and the world war 2 guns in the new wolfenstien style Look great and feel great , technically this game is impressive to the explosions and the animations to textures and models. everything is smartly and artistically designed even after a couple years have past this game still looks better than stuff coming out today.
    Graphics: 9/10

    Gameplay: besides the mindless nazi zombie section the level design is smart and its fun and addicting to play, its bombastic action meets tactics witch blends old fps action with the new contemporary type of Fps game. every gun feels fun and i used every one of them, Because i wanted to not because i needed to it was more like a sand box than specific equipment , the way the guns are animated helps sell the fun , they are brutal and deliberate but also grounded so it feels like you could hold these guns in real life , same with the executions , executions are something bethesda games seem to thrive im not saying go out and shoot people or shoe a sharp pipe up their ass but this cartoon violence is really cathartic and The old blood dose this catrathis the best , at least until the zombies.
    Gameplay: 9/10

    Sound design: the music is pretty forgettable even if it is fitting , and the gun sound effects are awesome but compared to the later entry's you can see where it is they are lacking. the voice acting was great but its over shadowed by the gameplay to witch you are mostly alone so its not on show very much but the voice acting that is there is really good.
    Sound design: 7/10

    Old Blood is a good expansion to a great game. I wanted more Wolfenstein, and that’s exactly what I got here. Sure, it’s neither as inventive nor as heartfelt as New Order, but it’s a solid piece of content that’s still leagues better than most shooters. If you liked New Order, I’d recommend checking it out.

    MachineGames took a step back in terms of design. The Old Blood is basically the same game as before but more action oriented, not as varied in terms of pace and lacking distinct ideas and settings. [07/2015, p.48]
