You look forward to relaxing with this game. There is no difficulty communicating (don't like that numbers are blocked), and you can make friends, meet up, and do challenges together, or enjoy the game alone. One minus--the gains in one level are offset by loses in another when it comes to weapons, clothing, etc, --but I don't know what would happen if this were not the case and it doesn't, however, make the game less fun, Expand

If you want a solid, free downloadable game than Wizard101 is a nice choice. It's a mix of adventure and card trading game, and It's fun. Visuals aren't professional, but worth for a free game. Completing quests is remarkably run. However, It haves two problems. First, it haves some glitches, amd second, it haves some "pay per play" quests. 80 out of 100

Wizard101 is an unenjoyable card game which is forgettable. bbaahh im kidding. it definately is cute, and a very simple game to get the feel of playing with fellas. there however lacks a better form of interaction between classes. business wise, i dont understand why kingisle doesnt have games for grown ups where there could be a transition of their mmo playerbase to more deep games....

This game is great. It really is. The combat is ingenious, and there are about 150 hours of game play, and it is continuously growing. My only issues are that in a few parts the game is a little grindy, and the ONE HUUGGEEE reason it has a seven is that it costs a lot to get past the first 2 hours of the game. Honestly you will save a lot of money if you just get a subscription, two reasons for this.
    1. It's cheaper than the buyable currency, which is what you need to access new areas.
    2. The subscription is worth the game, it really is.

Get this game, but make sure your wallet is ready before you start. Other than that this game is phenomenal

The game is a scam, Kingsisle finds many ways to scam you its outrageous. Their Kingsisle E-mail support is very inconvenient and they don't have a Call Support Line. They are very unlenient when it comes to banning people, to the point where you can LITERALLY get banned for no reason. Don't play the game unless your willing to take the risk of losing you Account and money.

Now I'm trying to let go of it because the problems associated with this game are becoming too much to handle and I've literally done everything the game has to offer. The only good thing I can say about this game is that it can be a fun experience for newcomers up until about an hour or 2 into playing if you don't mind playing a game that is falsely advertised as "Free To Play" on Steam. Now I'm gonna describe all the problems this game has (that I know of)

The false advertising alone already makes the game suspicious because about 95% of the adventure is blocked by a paywall. Plus there's not really any reason to play this game through steam because of that.

The crown shop is a money magnet. You'd have to be rich, selfish, or just very lucky to get the items/equipment you want. I was selfish and spent probably over $5000 on this game over the years. More than half the items featured in the crown shop are completely useless or a rip-off such as in-game gold, mounts, some elixirs and non-furniture bundles. Some crown shop items can be found through normal gameplay.

PvP (primarily higher Lvl) is often one-sided and unfair. Most likely if you don't go first, you're gonna lose because going first grants you the upper hand. Another problem with PvP is many warlords are fake as a result of account boosting. Kingsisle said they'd handle that issue but guess what, it's still happening which is disrespectful to the real warlords who worked hard to get where they are. You call a 25-0 (wins/losses) legit??? I know the reason some do this is to acquire attire that is restricted but cheating to get the attire defeats the whole purpose of PvP.

Questing is extremely repetitive and dungeons/bosses will almost always have to be done over and over again to get that piece of gear you need to complete your dream attire or perfect stat set unless you wanna throw crowns away for more chances. If you play more than 1 wizard (which most players do), that only makes this problem much more frustrating.

Having text chat is mandatory if you want to enjoy the game to the fullest. Without it, almost all chats you will see is (...) but let's be real, most players probably lie about their age just so they can have open chat and no matter what Kingsisle does, players will find a way around the chat filters.

A majority of the players on the game are toxic. Careful who you hang out with. Many players just hang out in the commons talking about random and often inappropriate things. Reporting them will do nothing, If Kingsisle actually punishes them, they will just make a new account and act like nothing happened. There's no limit on how many accounts you can own.

This next issue is more of problem I have personally but many players use rare/expensive treasure cards as a type of payment to do favors or give you things you want. That's basically drug dealing in a children's game. People have even paid actual money to own rare treasure cards which is preposterous! Some even sell accounts for real money/treasure cards which is not supported by Kingsisle but a third-party. Some of these offers are scams too. I liked to help out players with hard dungeons so they don't have to struggle that much. Sometimes I'd see players request a type of treasure card trade or spending crowns for assistance. That disgusts me...

Lastly, the main problem is Kingsisle themselves. They are nothing but money hungry slobs who don't care about the community anymore. These days, they update the game too inconsistently. There wasn't even a new world in 2019 which is the most inconsistent they've ever been. If your account gets hacked, you're screwed because Kingsisle has no mercy for victims of this. They slap a 10 year chat mute on the account which makes you unable to type to chat anymore. (if you manage to get it back) Customer support isn't really support, there's no phone number, all you can do is submit a ticket explaining the problem and all you'll get is an automated response. Recent additions to the crown shop have been released prematurely resulting in community uproar and unfairly spent crowns for those who fell prey to this "scheme." Kingsisle also has a tendency to ban/mute players for no apparent reason. Many of their promotional sales are rip-offs or recycling other things to seem more appealing to spend your money on. Their corruption has rubbed off on many players resulting in the toxic community I mentioned before. I'm backing out of it before I become one of them.

Overall, this game is gonna die. If you disagree, that's fine but it's a fact not just my opinion.

This game is terrible. First off, a large portion of the game is restricted, unless you purchase a monthly subscription which is expensive. Then, the game auto filters you're grammar and restricts words that aren't even offensive. The graphics are terrible, and it is pretty much just eight year olds running around asking if you will give them money so they can buy their pet unicorn.

I've played through the tutorial out of curiosity as I enjoy the idea of magical combat, and I have to say that Wizard101 doesn't feature any aspects of magic I enjoy. The idea of wizards getting together for a battle against mystical creatures, and choosing to stay out of other peoples fights or help them if they're struggling is an interesting concept. However, the battles themselves are far from magical feeling. When a majority of attacks involves summoning a snake, wolf, giant or bat to attack for you rather than actually casting magic yourself, doesn't feel all that magical.

The tutorial is incredibly short, and the membership is extremely expensive, $10 a month. Even so, that's 1 hours work at minimal wage in most places, its much more expensive than other games. The story seems quite interesting, but I have my doubts whether the gameplay would be worth the $120 per year. There are other games that feature hundreds of hours on F2P like runescape before getting boring. Sure you'll have a lot of restrictions and it does follow a F2P/membership model, but the F2P aspect provides much more in several other games.

One thing that REALLY needs to be fixed is the chat filter. I understand a game would want to filter out swear words when intended for children, but a lot of words that aren't swears can still be censored out like the word "whole" and I'm not making this up.

As a whole, I'd say it'd be a good game for a kid, but it doesn't feature much in the prospect of imagination. The graphics are a good balance between form and function, the gameplay is simple, and would be great for a younger audience. Due to the price and lack of imagination with "magic" casting, I wouldn't recommend this game for those who truly enjoy the unknown, wild and unpredictable chaos that is borne from magic.

When you start the game, you become a Wizard who is needed to help stop corruption and the dark agendas from major villains who wants to destroy the spiral. You can learn school spells from seven schools you can choose from which you use to cast at enemies. The spiral is a galaxy where you can travel to different worlds in order to do quests and battle minor enemies. You can travel to Marleybone, a Metropolitan world, where dogs and cats rule, even rats! Or Mooshu, an Asian inspired world, where peaceful cows believe in the Moodha. This game has tons of great puns or references to movies, bands, songs, etc etc.

It's a highly enjoyable game that you can play with your parents, children, grandchildren. Don't worry, this game even has parental control that you can use to control how your child or grand child can speak in-game. This prevents them from seeing words that they are not allowed to say or see.

When you start the game, you can play part of Wizard City for free before having to pay for a subscription which is pretty cheap. It's only $10 per month for 100% access to all of its areas and worlds. Or you can purchase crowns, an in-game currency with real money. You can use crowns to buy areas in the game. Once bought, the area is forever yours!

The only downside is the content comes really slow and in between worlds, there's not much to do except PvP which you can duel other in-game real wizards, pet derby where you can race your pets, or farm for super rare gear which makes you more powerful. It can become quite boring since there's not many options when there's a lull in content.

But, this company is very kind to its customers, they try to listen and improve the game upon feedback. They strongly believe in the idea that families should play together, even over distance. I have met in-game wizards who were grandparents, parents, relatives and children who were all playing together. This game was a perfect vehicle for them to keep in touch and have fun together, even though they live states or even countries apart.

Go give it a try. If you liked Harry Potter, you sure will like this game!

It's decent colorful graphics, generally casual feel, and free reign make it suitable for all ages, and yet even those who want a challenging strategy game with lots of personalization can have a difficult time barreling through the main quests solo. There Is plenty to do, though the main focus is obviously going to be the combat. You need to choose what schools, spells, and equipment to use for all kinds of different strategies, but it takes lots of skill to optimize a great deck and gear, and play out battles. While at first it's rather easy, it gets much more difficult once you get to Colossus Boulevard, when the mechanics change slightly, and it only gets tougher from there. Once you get higher up, pretty much every battle has a chance of failure, so you need to plan carefully. As for the pay to play thing, membership isn't really worth it unless you have three or more people in your family, or you're very serious about it. Otherwise I'd recommend just buying crowns for unlocking areas. I highly recommend this game for nearly anyone who likes a good adventure game. Expand

My only flaw with this game is that it really requires a friend to play with for the full experience, and it's balanced in a way that it's almost impossible to solo the late game, so players who wants a good solo experience may enjoy it at first, but then realize that they probably never will be able to solo even the mid game dungeons (Big Ben being a prime example), so basically you are required sitting around in Argent square and annoy people with constant spam of "PLEASE DO A DUNGEON WITH ME?!"

*If you are a crown player you will still have to pay for the areas, but if you are a member it is free.

Kids have found ways to curse on this game. There are bullies, especially if you are a non member, you get teased allot. There are sexual predators that have found ways to communicate to filtered chat members. They have even found a way around using numbers and exchange phone numbers, addresses and email accounts. Trust me, I learned this by playing and all of the above has happened toKids have found ways to curse on this game. There are bullies, especially if you are a non member, you get teased allot. Parents of younger kids and tweens will definitely want to check out Wizard101 if they haven't already. It's a wonderful game to use to introduce kids into the wider world of MMOs. And while Mom and Dad are at it, they should also call Grandma and Grandpa to get them started too. Wizard101 is that good and that fun for players of all ages. For this particular niche, the family-oriented, cross-generational gamer, there is no better game on the market today than Wizard101.
  2. An ideal starter MMO for children, but challenging enough for adults. Kids will love the cute characters, colorful world, and grandiose combat animations (as well as the Potter-like setting) while their parents may be drawn to the Magic: The Gathering inspired combat card mechanic and online safety measures.
