A highly aesthetic board game is transferred to our screens. If you want a tranquil, feelgood experience to pass your time, you just found your next investment.

The flock of dizzying strategic possibilities and the brilliant plumage it's dressed in make this digital board game a must-play.

A very good adaptation of a board game that occupied one of the top spots of the BoardGameGeek list. The rules are the same, so the goal is to create new habitats for birds and attract as many specimens as possible. The game has a great tutorial, obvious educational values (I wish it presented more information about the species though), and the cards are lovely, but it is a shame that only North American birds are included. Wingspan is a serene, blissful, drop-dead gorgeous digital board game. While its turn-based engine-building gameplay may not be for everyone, it’s the ideal game to unwind with alongside a mug of cocoa after a long day. Multiple play modes make this a great purchase for players of any age that enjoy strategy and a healthy dose of animal facts.

Wingspan did have so much potential to be great, but in the end, it is just okay. There is just too little variety to the gameplay and, being based on a boardgame, it doesn’t manage to justify its existence with any meaningful upgrades to the source material.

It looks nice, but the interface is so convoluted and unusable that the game is functionally unplayable. It's fundamentally a multiplayer game but the amount of crud you have to wade through to do anything slows games to a crawl that make the offline board game look like a speedrun. Worst purchase I've made in a long time. Full Review »

For those hoping it would elaborate upon the original game, it shouldn't need to. It well encapsulates the gameplay of the board game, as it should. It makes it easier to play the game, with auto-enforced rules, and the such. Along with being a great game, it has the best art and soundtrack out of these kinds of video games. Paweł Górniak did really well in composing the soundtrack, as it is only 20 minutes long for the base game, yet you can listen to it on loop for 24 hours straight and not get tired of it.
The only mild issue is that there is too much time for the AI's turns, (a few seconds.)

I love the board game, so i had to buy the digital edition. The game is beautiful with a nice, relaxing soundtrack and graphics. The gameplayI love the board game, so i had to buy the digital edition. The game is beautiful with a nice, relaxing soundtrack and graphics. The gameplay is fun, with my only issue being you can't see what the others are playing unless you go over to their card, which after a while i don't even care to do... Automa mode makes no sense, it is the same thing with custom game. Can't wait for the oceanic expansion. Full Review »
