Online play, I might mention, is excellent. Though currently sparsely populated, Wings of War servers tend to draw dogfight specialists, so your chances of getting more skilled when fighting online is very good.
-
PC GamerSure, a little more aeronautic authenticity might have made this good game great, but for what it tries to deliver, Wings of War succeeds admirably. [Holiday 2004, p.104]
-
It's a surprisingly polished game that covers some unique ground in a thoroughly enjoyable way.
-
PC FormatNot "Crimson Skies 2," but quite acceptable tipple while it lasts. [Nov 2004]

The campaign mode is outstanding and provides quite a few hours of fun and mayhem. Who can resist fun and mayhem? The lack of multiplayer severely hurts this title for me, but the cost helps ease some of the pain.
-
One of the coolest things is how many airplanes there are flailing around in huge dog fights. At any time there could be 10 or more planes swirling around shooting at each other, and if you don't keep an eye out, at you.
-
Computer Games MagazineWings of War isn't perfect, but beautiful; stylistic design and creative mission structure go a long way toward disguising the game's few drawbacks. [Dec 2004, p.93]
-
An enjoyable arcade game. People who are looking for more than just mindless action will find their enjoyment of this game compromised by the complete lack of any sort of narrative.
-
Gets props for delving into WWIs legendary Flying Circus, a part of history which, sadly, has been almost totally forgotten by most developers. It is just too bad the game itself has so many historical faux paus and extremely relaxed physics and flight models, even for an arcade flyer.
-
Missions are just too long and leave your hands feeling numb. By the time you've shot down your 20th enemy plane before the first save point comes along, you really don't have much interest in seeing what comes next.
-
The game's biggest weakness is the lack of multi-player options.

[Anonymous]Sep 20, 2004This game is fun as can be, great graphics, come on it's 20 bucks, having better time on the internet, than single player Doom.
