The visuals and graphics are aesthetic. It brings a Zelda-like nostalgia. The game environment is also relaxing and beautiful. I had no problem when it comes to combat and survival. If there were only different tasks and quests in each chapter, then it would have being enjoyable. Two, the difficulty levels. As much as there is story difficulty that is supposedly the easy difficulty, more difficulty levels should be included. For example, many hardcore players would want the survival difficulty, but dying and starting right from the beginning after almost 8 hours of playing till like chapter 4 is very irritating. At the same time losing all your progress will make you feel like you wasted all your time. And even on easy difficulty, as much as you die but keep your inventory, you loose your boat, and every upgrade and structure you build on the boat goes. I feel that should not be the case. An additional easy difficulty should be included, like one that doesn't have the starvation option. Third, the save mechanism. This game should include an autosave option instead of an only-manual save option. One can easily forget to save their progress. Fourth, the bugs and glitches. Bugs, crashes and glitches can be a gamer's overall nightmare, and Windbound is the center of all of it. At one point the game can crash, and, like I explained, without saving, you loose all your progress. Even though you saved, the game crash can wipe out all your saved progress. Lastly is the game combat, I liked the game combat to be honest, but at one point it becomes slow. If they added something like skills and combo mechanism, it would make the combat a bit quicker and easier. Overall, this game is promising and enjoyable, but requires more room for improvement. I tried to like this game. Slow paced, maybe a bit too much. Died to a goretusk very early and had to restart. Finally got to cook meat from a boar and when I saw how long it took to cook a single piece of meat I realised the game does not respect your time.

I sat at my PC, dumfounded, watching the little picture of meat cooking... far too slowly filling up. I got so bored waiting I

Windbound is a survival game that takes inspiration in both Breath of the Wild and Wind Waker, two iconic games in the Zelda franchise. The work done by 5 Lives Studios results in a rather nice game experience—especially the sea sailing—that, sadly, feels constantly restricted by its own limitations.

Windbound wants to offer a deep story backed up by rewarding exploration, crafting and survival in a beautiful open world. However, it only really lands the beautiful open world part of this, with it getting close to the line with the rewarding exploration and crafting aspects. The problem is that for all it wants to offer, Windbound is just too shallow and repetitive and offers no real replay value.

Windbound has lovely visuals and some solid ideas. But it's held back by how old the game's loop gets. Plus, the sailing is so slow and janky that it really . . . takes the wind out of the game's sails. Okay, I'm sorry about that one.
