What Remains of Edith Finch's winding level layout and assorted storytelling mechanics break up the usual monotony of walking simulators. The deaths are tragic and beautiful, but they feel like they're building towards a payoff that never comes.

It only took me two to three hours to complete, but the experience was excellent. Each character's story in the game takes a completely different approach, and all of them are amazing, showing each character's completely different persona, yet completely similar fate. Perfect performance, Tragic story, Smooth experience 10/10

I'm so sorry Lewis... I don't really like walking games, but I empathized with the characters in this game. The atmosphere was also nice.

I loved the game, I expected it would be a misterious/puzzle/horror game, but the story surprised me. Beautiful game.

É lindo, fantástico, com uma linda música, linda história, linda arte... É aquele tipo de jogo que te deixa parado encarando o nada por um bom tempo até tu digerir o que acabou de absorver.

It's an experience rather than a game. The charming atmosphere and the interesting story combined is what this game is.

Unlike many others, Edith Finch's story ends in a heartfelt and satisfying way.

Amazing game. Crazy beautiful design of the house and all the surroundings. Very atmospheric, great music. However, I would have loved a bit more freedom to discover, it is 100% linear. And it is a bit short. Still 10/10

Great story, beautiful visual and sound,
    controlling is just find
like how the way to interact things but sometime it's very difficult to move around when you play with mouse (keyboard can help but very slow to move things)
too sad that it is very short game but it's still great.

Best interactive storytelling I've experienced. I don't know if you could really call it a game but it's definitely an artistic achievement. I would have given it a 10/10 if not for the ending that didn't deliver as expected and for the clunkiness.

What Remains of Edith Finch is a collection of individual stories beautifully presented and artfully woven into an intriguing and memorable larger narrative.

This is not really a game but more of a 2-3 hour movie. This story is great, I love being able to interact with the story instead of just plainly watching it. I will say no more, this game is best experienced with no prior knowledge.

Super easy to play. Only 2.5 hours of gameplay. Sad musics and sad atmosphere. You basically follow the stories all the time, finches are huge family and every single member is died and our little one is trying to find out the reason. And stories are really hooking! Give it a try.

There are times when games can be called experiences and this is one of them. What Remains of Edith Finch has one of the best stories of recent memory for me as well as one of the best imagined worlds I have every seen. At it’s core this is a walking simulator where you explore a house to find out the history of various family members. That doesn’t do this game justice though. Each familyThere are times when games can be called experiences and this is one of them. What Remains of Edith Finch has one of the best stories of recent memory for me as well as one of the best imagined worlds I have every seen. At it’s core this is a walking simulator where you explore a house to find out the history of various family members. That doesn’t do this game justice though. Each family member has it’s own type of game to it when you are experiencing their final moments. For instance for Barbara you are literally in the comic book you are reading and watch things unfold on the page. For Lewis you are working at a canning plant and have to keep up with chopping fish as you explore his invented world he is getting lost in. There are others I could mention but will stop there to just say that the variety and inventiveness of the flashbacks blew me away. This is what walking sims can be and should strive to be. The game doesn’t point you where to go next but at the same time makes it apparent. The graphics were well done and made good use of colour. The detail on plants; objects; and water were great. The voice acting was superb throughout as was the music.

I played What Remains of Edith Finch on Linux using Wine. It never crashed on me and I didn’t notice any bugs or glitches. There was a v-sync toggle; four AA settings; and six other graphics options. Alt-Tab didn’t work. The game saves automatically at various points. A manual save system would have been nice but the spacing between auto saves wasn’t terrible. Performance was overall very good. There were some drops in frame rate but they only lasted a second or two and otherwise was well above 60. The game does seem to have a frame rate cap of 120 FPS but that is better than some games using the Unreal engine that have a cap of 60.

    Game Engine: Unreal 4
    Graphics API: DXVK
    Disk Space Used: 2.5 GB

Graphics Settings Used: V-sync off; all other settings on Ultra; 1920x1080
    GPU Usage: 4-100 %
    VRAM Usage: 1326-2183 MB
    CPU Usage: 11-29 %
    RAM Usage: 2.1-2.5 GB
    Frame Rate: 32-120 FPS

I can easily say that What Remains of Edith Finch was amazing. It is storytelling at it’s finest and has a sense of wonder other games sorely lack. If you at all enjoy walking sims I urge you to check this game out. I paid $7.69 CAD for it but it is easily worth it’s current price tag of $25.59 CAD. I finished the game in 1 hour and 54 minutes but it makes every minute of that count. This shows that having a long play time isn’t needed to be a great game.

Сильная и невероятно трагичная игра, которая за пару часов погружает в одновременно светлое и печальное состояние. Мы проживаем жизни каждого члена семьи и видим их конец. Leisurely exploration of the estate is interspersed with stories about the last days of different Finch family members – and these moments show that developers didn’t just proclaim their love for H.P. Lovecraft, Neil Gaiman and other masters of magical realism, they really know that stuff. Giant Sparrow draws you into the little girl’s dreamworld just as easily as it paints a picture of kingly ambitions of a factory worker. [Issue#221, p.81]

Beautiful, bittersweet, artistic, frank and engaging game. Just a shame of the scope that does not allow to move from a captivating start into a completely satisfactory final. [Issue#275]

The game tells intriguing stories and leaves room for interpretation but is short, linear and devoid of true tension. [07/2017, p.60]
