Jun 10, 2021We Are Football is an intriguing attempt to offer another take on the football management genre. The game has a very good match presentation and some solid club-focused mechanics but I am not sure that this is enough to make it a contender. The developers really need to get at least one major league full license (the Bundesliga is probably the most accessible) to draw fans in. An editor that is both faster and easier to use just to engage with names would also help. The football management space needs more options and more innovation. The developers clearly try to focus on the match and the squad interactions while also offering more club-based features for those who want it. I liked the time I spent with We Are Football but it’s unlikely that I will use it to play a ten-year-long Liverpool campaign anytime soon.

Jun 9, 2021We Are Football is an accessible management sim for all skill levels, and whilst it might not be the best out there, it's still a lot of fun.
-
Jun 9, 2021We Are Football succeeds in carrying over the strengths of the old soccer management games into 2021, but it fails to develop them further.

Jun 9, 2021We are Football is a love letter to old-school football manager titles, from which inherits virtues and vices. The holistic business management simulation is fun and the boardgame vibes works well on the long run, while the tactics aspect is a little bit clumsy and not so satisfying. Overall, it's a lighter, indie and quite different alternative to Football Manager series, with a great database editor too.

Jun 9, 2021It is not the worst first step for the saga, but this game gets shadowed when you compare it against Football Manager. The game moves itself off from football, and it gets so close with a calc sheet.

Jun 28, 2021We Are Football is a title with some interesting ideas and a good starting point for the future.

Jun 9, 2021We Are Football is an immediate managerial experience that has no ambition (and how it could?) to take the throne of the genre, but it may interest football lovers who are looking for a simplified yet smart gameplay.

Jun 14, 2021While they might share the same genre, We Are Football isn’t trying to be the new Football Manager. Winning Streak’s game offers a lighter formula, with some quirks here and there like sabotaging the field lights, but the logic that dictates the outcome of matches feels to unstable, and the lack of official licenses might not be welcome by some.

Jun 23, 2021We Are Football is an attempt to reproduce the success of old classics like the old EA Football Manager. The Emphasis here is on “attempt”, because the game fails miserably. Missing licenses, a broken transfer market and a lack of explanations are just some of the things that went wrong. Only a few things make the game playable at all: It is very beginner-friendly and has 40 Leagues from 22 Countries. Moreover, missing Clubs can be added via a very detailed Editor. We Are Football can produce some fun, but only if you lower your standards.

Jun 15, 2021We Are Football lays the foundations for future titles to prosper. But as a game, it isn't all that great. The primitive match engine in particular is just not good enough in this day and age. Regardless, there are some good ideas present and it looks far more promising than most of the Football Manager clones that have come and gone. Even if you don't want to wait, it's not like We Are Football is necessarily bad. Some may find the streamlined, faster experience a refreshing change from Football Manager's more complex offerings.

Jun 10, 2021With a different gameplay focus, bright and breezy presentation, a simple yet effective match engine and a long overdue women’s football management mode, We Are Football does a pretty decent job of setting itself apart from Football Manager. However, a cluttered and messy UI, when combined with a frankly overwhelming amount of information to process, served to be pretty off-putting and left me pining for the relative simplicity of FM Touch. If you want to dig into some boardroom minutiae, this might just be the game for you. As it is, there was just a little too much white noise around the good stuff to make this a unanimous recommendation.

Jun 9, 2021If Football Manager scares you with all its details you may try We Are Football, a beginner-friendly football management game made by industry veterans.
