This game needed either more time in development or a better team working on it. It's L4D, but worse. It's less polished, it's frustrating, it's annoying. Every moment you may have enjoyed in Left for Dead can't be recreated here. Last survivor when the party goes down? Enjoy not being able to run past enemies, not being able to kill them alone, and not being able to reach allies who spawned too far away. Enjoy getting one hit killed by giant monsters spawning while you're on a ledge. Enjoy a feeling of complete randomness taking any sense of skill and accomplishment away, with victory being literally impossible, or disappointingly easy. Expand

    Pros:
    - Good gameplay, at first
    - Graphic is fantastic and character design is really top notch - Top notch voice acting to go with top notch character design. Cons: - Repetitive gameplay. Even with loots the game gets dull quickly. - Game is unstable. Expect to crash and lose 30 minutes of progress once every few hours if you're unlucky. - No dedicated server, so expect to lose

    - Toxic community, more so than average toxic games.

Unfortunately higher level progression turns on friendly fire, with no alternative for people who hate friendly fire.

I'm old and I'm tired of unstable and unfinished games. Years ago, I decided to start buying simpler games, but games that work and in most cases, this idea made me buy great products.

Sadly, Fatshark did a simple game that doesn't work 30% of the time so I was wrong with this one and I just have to advise not to buy it.

The game used to be fun but the developers keep breaking the game with every single incompetent patch. They even decided to remake the entire game after a year of it's release causing everyone who had played it before to relearn how to play the game.

The developers themselves even have gone as far as harassing and ridiculing paying customers for their honest criticism of the terrible direction the game is heading. They purposely deactivated reviews for their Winds of Magic "expansion" so no one could warn anyone on how terribly buggy and overpriced it was with little to no new content. The majority of the "new" content was rehashed maps that then were cut into smaller pieces called "weaves" and the "new" weapons were just existing weapons already in the game but given to different heroes.

The developers are a fraud. They promised to give us dedicated servers on launch then waited 2 months before telling people they just "couldn't" do it. That's bait and switch.

They also repeatedly promised and reassured that there will be NO micro-transactions and, yet, they are now planning on releasing a "cosmetic" shop where you buy crappy recolored skins you already have and hats that mostly all look identical to each other.

Fatshark is nothing more than liars and criminals. The game doesn't play well because they use an outdated and discontinued engine.

Vermintide 2 went from 70k players on launch to a measly 2k players during prime time. That says it all.

In all ways better than the first, looks awesome and plays really well. It is a shame that it has occasional and unnecessary bugs and is missing dedicated servers. [Issue#284]

If I were to compare Vermintide II to other titles, I would choose Left 4 Dead and Diablo, with Dark Messiah of Might and Magic coming in a close third place due to how combat feels. The game will eventually wear you down with its repetitiveness, because replaying scenarios is embedded in its design, but before it happens you’ll spend dozens of fun hours with it. [05/2018, p.42]

Vermintide 2 evolved far beyond a Left 4 Dead imitation. Using familiar concepts, Fatshark lovingly crafted one of the best cooperative action games in recent years.
