They butchered Warcraft 3 and gave us a version that is missing alot of the original features. New graphic is so bad that most people won't use it. Do not waste your money on this garbage.

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, The Frozen Throne, hold an esteemed place in the pantheon of real-time strategy (RTS) games. With their intricate narratives, groundbreaking gameplay, and rich world-building, they laid the foundation for what would later become the immensely popular World of Warcraft (WoW). Therefore, when Blizzard announced Warcraft III: Reforged,Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos and its expansion, The Frozen Throne, hold an esteemed place in the pantheon of real-time strategy (RTS) games. With their intricate narratives, groundbreaking gameplay, and rich world-building, they laid the foundation for what would later become the immensely popular World of Warcraft (WoW). Therefore, when Blizzard announced Warcraft III: Reforged, expectations soared. However, the final product left many long-time fans, especially those who pre-ordered, with a bitter taste.

    Downgraded Visuals:
Despite being marketed as a "reforged" version, many of the in-game graphics and cutscenes did not reflect the quality one would expect from a modern-day remaster. Some character models seemed off, and the visual fidelity in certain areas felt like a step backward from the original.

    Broken Promises:
Pre-release promotional material showcased reimagined cutscenes and a more immersive storytelling experience. But what was delivered was far from that promise, making many feel misled.

    Technical Glitches:
Players encountered numerous bugs and performance issues upon release. From crashing to freezing, these technical glitches severely hindered gameplay and were uncharacteristic of a Blizzard product.

    Classic Version Affected:
What stung even more for some players was that Reforged also affected those who owned the original game. Due to the merging of the classic and reforged game clients, players of the original Warcraft III found themselves contending with many of the same issues plaguing Reforged, without even choosing to buy the new version.

    Features Missing:
Several features from the original, such as custom campaigns and LAN support, were inexplicably absent in Reforged. For a game that was supposed to be an upgrade, the removal of beloved features was hard to digest.

    Lack of Proper Communication:
Blizzard's response to the community's grievances felt inadequate, leading to further disillusionment. For a company known for its dedicated fanbase and community interaction, the radio silence and perceived lack of accountability were disappointing.

In conclusion, Warcraft III: Reforged had the potential to breathe fresh life into a classic, introducing it to a new generation while satisfying the nostalgia of long-time fans. Unfortunately, it fell short on many fronts. For those who pre-ordered with high hopes, it's easy to understand why they might feel deceived by the final product. It serves as a stark reminder that even the most revered gaming institutions can falter when they deviate from their commitment to quality and their audience.

Dear lord, what a sad little game, Blizzard. You ruined a 17 year old game completely so you could have the money and I hope now you can spend it on getting proper developers and doing some market research. Because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on. So Blizzard return my money and get out of the market. You’re done. RIP Blizzard

let's face it blizzard has been dead since 2008, we can't wait for anything good to come from them anymore in the current year wake up!

The game was one of the most anticipated video game remasters, promising to bring back the beloved classic with improved graphics, updated gameplay, and enhanced features. However, upon its release, it became evident that the game fell far short of the expectations set by both longtime fans and newcomers. From technical issues to questionable design choices, here's a comprehensive review of why Warcraft III: Reforged sucks.

    Broken Promises and Missing Features:
One of the major issues with Warcraft III: Reforged was the substantial discrepancy between the pre-release promises and the final product. Blizzard initially showcased stunning cinematic trailers and touted a complete overhaul of graphics and cinematics. However, when the game launched, many of these features were missing or poorly executed. Several iconic cutscenes were removed, leaving players feeling cheated and short-changed.

    Technical Problems and Performance Issues:
Upon release, Warcraft III: Reforged was plagued with numerous technical problems and performance issues. Players encountered frequent crashes, frame rate drops, and connectivity problems, hindering their ability to enjoy the game. Blizzard's failure to address these issues in a timely manner further frustrated the player base, contributing to a disappointing experience.

    Downgraded Graphics and Art Style:
While the remastered graphics in Warcraft III: Reforged were initially expected to be a highlight, they turned out to be a massive letdown. The promised overhaul was scaled back, and the visual improvements were not as impressive as anticipated. The new art style failed to capture the charm and atmosphere of the original, leaving players longing for the classic look they loved.

    Uninspired Unit and Building Design:
Unit and building design in Reforged also proved to be uninspired. While the developers claimed to have improved models, many units lacked the detail and character of the original, resulting in a bland and lifeless feeling throughout the game.

    Disastrous User Interface:
The user interface (UI) in Warcraft III: Reforged was a major point of contention among players. It was clunky, cluttered, and difficult to navigate, making simple tasks unnecessarily complex. This poor UI design hindered the overall gameplay experience and frustrated even veteran players who were familiar with the original game.

    Removal of Classic Version:
One of the most baffling decisions made by Blizzard was the forced upgrade to Reforged, which left players with no option to play the classic version of Warcraft III. Many fans preferred the original experience, and the absence of this option alienated a significant portion of the player base.

    Lack of Content and Support:
Warcraft III: Reforged lacked the additional content and support that players had hoped for. The game shipped with minimal new features and failed to introduce any compelling post-release updates or expansions, causing the game to quickly grow stale.

    Conclusion:
In conclusion, Warcraft III: Reforged was a massive disappointment that failed to deliver on its promises and left fans feeling betrayed. Technical problems, downgraded graphics, uninspired design, and a lack of essential features all contributed to a lackluster gaming experience. Blizzard's mishandling of the remaster alienated a passionate community and showcased a lack of care and dedication to one of its most cherished franchises. Warcraft III: Reforged is an unfortunate example of how not to handle a classic game remaster.

Even after all the cut-content, Blizzard has kept outright lies on the Reforged website still advertising 4+ hours of cut-scenes and is using footage from Blizzcon (that isn't even in the game) to sell the game. This false-advertising is outright disgusting and I believe is enough to justify giving this game a 0 score.

The ONE new cutscene that actually did make it into the game (Illidan vs Arthas) was outsourced to a studio in Malaysia and the end result is terribly animated, with terrible models, has no music, and everything is static (hair and boot fur don't move).

The old cutscenes from 20 years ago are better.

P.S. Don't even get me started on features that were removed from the original!

If there were ever any doubt that "pro" reviewers are paid by publishers to write fluff pieces, this should settle it. Anyone giving this game higher than a 1 should never be taken seriously again.

Now that Epstein is dead, Bobby Kotick needs lots of $$$ to build his own pedo island. Expect lots more cash grab trash like this from Activision.

Warcraft III: Reforged is an 2020 attempt at remaking the classic legendary RTS Warcraft III. Before saying anything about the game itself, please allow me to clarify how I see and review remakes. I cannot possibly give a remake credit for any aspects of the game that remains completely unchanged from the original. Those aspects were already reviewed and praised (or hated) in the original game. So I only take into consideration aspects of the game that are new or actually were remade. Now about this disastrous game. Everyone remembers the horrible release and rightfully angry fans. Back then I wanted to retain my sanity and I decided to wait with playing this game. But now, almost three years later, I wanted to see how bad or good the game actually is. I really did not want to pay for this game, but luckily it has gotten cracked this summer. Now, first disappointment came right after I started the game. The menu is different and it just is not nearly as cool as the original menu, including the campaign menu little animated scenes. Remember the Reign of Chaos chilling menu music? That is gone for some reason. Then I started the campaign to see the graphics, that was, after all, the whole point of the remake. At first sight, It seemed ok, they got the colors and the textures mostly right. What I did not like were the units and especially the heroes. In my opinion their textures have too excessive details that you cannot appreciate from the RTS view and on the contrary, a lot of units seem pretty similar to each other and sometimes it might be difficult to tell one unit from the other. The heroes have new armor and clothes from the WoW and it mostly just does not look good at all. If I think about the graphics in general, it looks to me more like a 2010 remake then a 2020 one. One more thing about the graphics, all the icons are new, which seems redundant and confusing. New autosave system is also pretty useless. Also the developers wanted to distinguish the dreadlords among themselves, and it did not went great. Poor Anatheron and Detheroc, more like breadlords. No wait, I can do better. Also the developers wanted the game to sell in China and plus sexism is bad, mkay, so not even a hint of nudity or anything suggestive, the harpies animated icons got zoomed in on their heads. But those are all graphical aspects and sadly the developers decided to fick with the gameplay also. In short, everything they touched is more or like destroyed. The game is filled with bugs even now, three years after release. Not game breaking, but certainly noticeable and immersion breaking. Compare that to the bug-less original. Now a little thing about the difficulty. I consider myself a Warcraft III veteran and I have played hundreds of competition games back in the day, so I was truly surprised that some missions really took me by surprise and made me reload and rethink my strategy (I was playing on Hard difficulty). Now that would be fine, I would even welcome it, but the game does it in such a random and idiotic way that I cannot find any joy in it. Plus there is no balancing, some missions are really easy, some are really hard. What an excrementshow. One minor plus is that they resisted and did not included any SJW elements, like, you know, female orcs/taurens or footwomen. Thank god for that at least. No microtransactions, but the whole game should have been free as an homage to the great fans. Instead they charged 30 bucks for it.

All these bugs would not in fact make a terrible game, more like a mediocre one. But what is the most horrible and disgusting thing is the Activision Blizzard's greed, immorality and depravity. The have no shame and it looks like the long fall from grace is not over yet for this once beloved company. I wish they would just stop taking these legendary great games and ruining them, but I know that is not going to happen. Final Verdict: 1 %

    Support ticket transcript:

    Me:

I had classic Warcraft 3 for a long time but I'm having trouble starting it now. I haven't touched it for some time, so I assume the forced Reforged update broke it as it did for others.

Running "Warcraft IIIFrozen Throne.exe" and "Warcraft IIIWar3.exe" gives me:
"The code execution cannot proceed because mss32.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

Reforged WC3, after attempting to log in:
"There was an error in handling the request."

I don't know how to reinstall the classic version, because I don't have the CD key anymore. Though I really just want to play classic Warcraft 3, the one I had already installed on my hard drive for years, instead of Reforged.

Now that I've got your ticket, let's give it a look.

I can entirely see what's going on here, and unfortunately there's not really a lot that can be done in this particular scenario since you don't have the license anymore. If you can find the CD key you can reinstall things with the CD, but the only supported game client is now Warcraft: Reforged. This is because this update is also the most Because of that, if you'd like to play you either need to find the old CD or purchase Reforged, which will let you play the modern version of the game with online features, etc.

I sincerely hope that this experience with Blizzard Entertainment has been informative, if not helpful. If you need help with anything else, please feel free to reach out and let us know.

    Me:

So I got robbed then? I can't play the game I had installed already for years because Blizzard pushed an update I never wanted? I can't even play with the new client, the game was literally just taken from me. I don't have the CD anymore. Why should I have to buy it again? This is ridiculous.

    Blizzard:

    Greetings ██,

Gamemaster Gronnfindel here, thanks for the response! Unfortunately the only way to play Warcraft III now would be to add a Reign of Chaos CD key to your Battle.net account if you can still find it or to purchase Warcraft III: Reforged. I understand that you were able to play the game without the CD key in the past, but unless you have a Reign of Chaos or Reforged game license on your Battle.net account it is no longer possible to play Warcraft III.

    #####Transcript end#####

So I have to rebuy the game I already bought, installed, and played for years just because they decided to force some dumb 30GB "reforge" I couldn't use anyway, and never bought nor wanted since before it released. WTF. They literally just pushed an update, then stopped me from playing both versions. The launcher recognizes I have the game, it knew I did enough to force the Reforged update, but apparently they don't, and won't let me play unless I buy it again or get the CD I don't have, even though I installed it years ago and was able to play it for years. I'm not giving them any more of my money. I would literally have to pirate it so I could play the game I legitimately bought. It's not good business practice to stop people from playing an already bought and installed game. This has to be violating some law. I literally got robbed.

I'll keep it simple and give a thumbs up to Midenrollos, the Game Master who helped me refund the game via chat. Now let's talk about the game. If you go to the main website, you'll still see that they list 4h + reforged cutscenes like the one we saw for Stratholme. After playing the Orc introduction campaign until they reach Kalimdor and we start with Arthas... nothing happens. The moment I end up reaching the mission from the trailer, I'm crying. Generic bugged "cutscenes" that were a copy and paste from the original. That was the start of me opening my eyes. Here is a list of all the problems I've noticed myself. I'm sure there is way more issues with the game. Also, i'm stuck with 30 GB of unplayable data to play my regular Warcraft 3 copy. I'm so damn sad. This was my favourite game with SC Brood War. Now, I have a salty taste. I can't even defend Blizzard on this one. The CAD price of this game is 49.99$ for the Spoil of War version, which I bought the day they announced it. I even played it on the Blizzcon floor myself in 2019 and there was the Stratholme quest and all. If you've never played the game and want to learn more about the campaign, it's "barely alright". You'd better play the old version because you can get a legit key for less than 10$. You won't run this version at 4K 144HZ uncapped FPS. It's even locked at 30 fps. I really hope Blizzard gives us information on what they will do. I've never seen a Blizzard game with a rating that low. I probably won't buy another product from Blizzard before the official release "Yeah this one is on me".

This is the case when the expression "works - do not touch" is the best way to describe the re-release of the game.

The worst thing Blizzard could do to a game that has grown up millions of Warcraft fans is to remove the old version and leave only the new version with a visual that has nothing to do with the classic style of the old game.

Very happy to see blizzard decided to consider heading back to RTS, but the fact that they outsourced all the work proves thats wrong.

The demo was better than the game, they just gave us terrible models outsourced to Malaysia which do not feel like warcraft and didn't update the story, the cutscenes or anything. It arguably is worse.

Blizzard has addressed some of the complaints and criticism hurled its way, and has promised to work on many of these issues. Naturally, one must ask why the game was released in such a state, especially considering the negative attention the company has garnered over the past year with the reveal of Diablo Immortal and the Blizzard/China controversy.

In the end it’s worth noting that when viewing a remake or remaster what needs to be taken into consideration is the source material, how it looks, feels, and plays. That is, in addition to the work carried out to recreate moments, update visuals, and change any of the presentation. To do otherwise would be silly, a terrible game with a wonderful remaster doesn’t warrant a high score. In the case of Warcraft III, the inverse to that is also true. So, what we end up with is something in-between. A classic reborn, in a package that doesn’t warrant all that much in the way of celebration.
