    Greedier monetization, new bugs, and OP premium vehicles every patch have made War Thunder increasingly unplayable. While the core of the game is awesome, it is corrupted by an awful economy system, battle rating compression, and unbalanced matchmaking. Therefore, I cannot recommend anyone to play this game. The recent update on May 2023, has further highlighted the fundamentally flawedGreedier monetization, new bugs, and OP premium vehicles every patch have made War Thunder increasingly unplayable. While the core of the game is awesome, it is corrupted by an awful economy system, battle rating compression, and unbalanced matchmaking. Therefore, I cannot recommend anyone to play this game. The recent update on May 2023, has further highlighted the fundamentally flawed economy in this game. I strongly advise against playing unless you can afford pay-to-progress systems. Progressing to modern content, such as the F-16, often requires premium time and sometimes premium vehicles, but even having both won't guarantee a fair experience. Despite having 200 more days of premium account and owning 9 rank VI and VII premium vehicles, I am leaving the game. The developers are hardworking and cool, and I have no issues with them, but the management is really bad. Their decisions, like removing Steam from their site and rewarding positive reviews, have been questionable. If they continue to ignore their fanbase's criticisms and fail to change their ways, they risk losing their fanbase, just like what happened with Overwatch 2 and Battlefield 2042.… Expand

    The game is great, outside the grind and the economy and the contempt the developer is showing to the players, to the point where high tiers are F2P in name only.

    Progressing and repairing vehicles requires Silver Lions (SL). Gaijin has progressively increased the cost of SL over time along with adding more vehicle requirements to progress.     I have played this game since 2013. I have thoroughly enjoyed it, and this game has been with me through some hard times in my life. Every time I see old footage I nearly choke up and cry, because it means that much to me... but it feels like I'm looking at a dying relative who's forgetting who they were.

    The game I played had passion and joy in its design, it had the apparent intention to expand further to make the game feel more... I would say immersive but that's not the right word, but it's the best one I have for now. The game has turned into a schlop of greed and cheap additions. The developers no longer care for their original vision of the game, and they consistently go back and change their goals, or promises. They have made the in-game economy something that was roughly balanced, to a thing where if you are not spending money, you cannot progress at all.

    I will reiterate that seeing this game now feels exactly like looking at a dying relative, a relative who is dying not because of age, but of greed. It's painful, and it hurts. This game will never return to the days where you could feel immersed in it, it will never return to the days wherein it felt like things would change for the better, it will never return to the days that it had a soul.

    Bad economy system gradually force players to pay money and spend hours and hours on new vehicles.
    Bad balance makes Russian too OP in top tier.

    No contact with the community, terrible updates and then claiming that the players are the bad guys because they don't want to pay REAL money to be able to play . Nothing like digging your own grave.

    I'm a premium player, because this is the only way not to suffer.
    In addition to having a premium account, I have 4 premium vehicles. In total I spent a lot more than buying a single game.
    Logically, the grind shouldn't be difficult for me, I play with the Leopard A1A1 L44 and the Tam 2IP in the same formation, and yet, if the game goes badly I can lose even 8000SL If the game goes well,    I'm a premium player, because this is the only way not to suffer.
    In addition to having a premium account, I have 4 premium vehicles. In total I spent a lot more than buying a single game.

    This isn't a free to play game, it's a pay to play game. You have to spend a lot of time and money to progress. Gaijin does not listen to its community, actively mocks its members, and has been suppressing negative reviews on theirThis isn't a free to play game, it's a pay to play game. You have to spend a lot of time and money to progress.     game itself is a brilliant piece of game-design, the graphics, vehicle models, penetration system, etc. but it all got ruined because of Gaijin`s greediness. they really do not care about players, only thing they care about is lining their own pockets. without buying premium vehicles and premium time, at rank 3-4 you`ll hit a MASSIVE wall, when you will barely make enough money to covergame itself is a brilliant piece of game-design, the graphics, vehicle models, penetration system, etc. but it all got ruined because of Gaijin`s greediness. they really do not care about players, only thing they care about is lining their own pockets. without buying premium vehicles and premium time, at rank 3-4 you`ll hit a MASSIVE wall, when you will barely make enough money to cover repair costs. but economy along with monstrous repair costs are not the only problems, but vehicle balance, battle rating system, map design, tone-deafness of developers, and their unwillingness to do anything about it. but of course, they are interested in adding two or three new premium vehicles every update. please, who sees that review and deciding whether he wants to start playing war thunder, do not do it. go play something else.

    War Thunder has always been a very grindy f2p game but it made up for that with an excellent selection of aircraft and the best mouse controlled flight mechanics I've ever played. Unfortunately the developer has been making the grind worse for years on end while also making extremely poor balance decisions.     War thunder has many redeeming qualities, and is a very detailed vehicular combat game. With that said, the developers insist on implementing predatory systems that makes the game borderline unplayable unless you consistently buy premium vehicles and a premium subscription.     The economy is broken since end of 2021. The developer doesn't make anything to improve the situation for the players!

    Grind is unbearable, i have 1200 hours (F2P player) and 0 MBTs (except squadron and 1 premium vehicle i bought lately). And a premium vehicle will cost you 60$, and you need premium account as well.

    So again if you are newbie (especially those that want to buy high tier premium tank to play the game), i suggest you dont waste your time in this game, because this is no longer the game that it suppose to be, or simply you will get pissed off after play for 1 hour, gayjoob is now become a greedy pig, and they will do anything to get money from us, while they ignore the players opinion DISRESPECTFULLY, and DONT FIX THEIR DAMN GAME AND ISSUES THAT EXIST MORE THAN 2 YEARS, JUST DONT

    The time is now fellow players, we have enough of their bull****, those greedy pigs even blame the player base for their failure, will you let gayjoob continue their bull****?? no, this go NO FURTHER, we need to rise up, we need to give gayjoob the taste of what they have given us all those years, start by NOT BYING ANYTHING in the next patch, if better, DON'T PLAY THE GAME at all in the next patch, and even better, boycott the game, i don't care if they close the game, i don't care if i don't win, but i want gayjoob TO LOSE, i want gayjoob to have what they deserve for looking down on the player base, would you like to play on a game where the developer looking down on us?     War Thunder turned to a wrong path because of greediness of it's creators, now we have broken economics, bad graphics and horrible attitude from developers to the community.

    One of the cornerstones of War Thunder is that player’s skill is more important than his wallet. Premium vehicles offer no combat advantages, there is no “microtransaction-only” ammo or consumables, so no amount of cash will buy you a spot on the top of the food chain. [Issue#216, p.56]

    The official launch of War Thunder reminded me why I like this game so much. It's adorably chaotic - in contrast to the reliably designed World of Tanks. That's why it can be really fun and frustrating at the same time. There's tons of great vehicles (and the planes are superb!) and a difficult simulation mode, but there are also balance and technical issues.
