    Fix those repair costs. Fix those BRs. Fix your goddamn game! It was brilliant, beautiful! But now - it is just unplayable anymore, you broke maps, you broke vehucles, you broke litteraly everything!

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I switched to this game from World of Tanks because of greedy upcoming changes that hurt the game substantially and the big RNG factor. It was quite refreshing to try War Thunder and I quickly fell in love with the game, probably mostly because I couldn’t yet grasp the scope of economic **** going on with Gaijin. I purchased some premium vehicles as well as premium account and processed quickly through the lower ranks. The higher I got them and the more I learned about the game on Reddit made it clear that Gaijin is just as bad as Wargaming. It’s sad to see game developers resort to milking the player base when creating a good game would probably ensure more new players in the long run and more revenue for a longer period of time.… Expand

    Do not go into the game as a new player, you will have fun for the first bit but eventually you will get slammed into a brick wall. This game could be fun but until the company decides to retract it's predatory methods, AVOID AT ALL COST.
    Currently, there is a boycott on May 26th, 2023. it is encouraged to not play on that day and after until something is done. Change can happen.

    Game is extremely pay to play, you basically have to spend a lifetime just to progress and also developers are more than willing to be extremely scummy to the point where they put people in debt when they mess up when they couldve just written it off as a sign on goodwill(also happened near christmas)

    One of my favourite games for a very long time that was completely destroyed by greedy developers who actively belittle the fans of their game by insulting our intelligence and ever plundering the depths of what corporate greed and bad video game monetary practice means.

    Greedy company and game. The economy is pay to play. I would highly recommend avoiding this game.

    I am hopping on the band wagon after seeing Gaijins awful tone deaf response. I am joining the review bombing because its the only way to get through to the devs, Gaijin cannot silence or remove our comments on here like they do on their "feedback" forms. For the sake of the game, I hope they can listen and make appropriate changes.

I personally reached a breaking point with the addition of the SEVENTY DOLLAR PREMIUMS (you might be thinking, well it's only 10 dollars more than the rank VI premiums! Well, I don't agree with a single vehicle and a few golden eagles and premium time to be equivalent to a modern/semi-modern AAA titles). Most people recently lost it with the proposed economy changes. As a few content creators had portrayed, making silver lions became such a grind, even more than before. This just loops back around to Gaijin being one of the greediest and cutthroat gaming companies I know of in the industry. And they wanted to plunder all of their cash by turning their free-to-play one of a kind game into a cash cow, but they can only milk it for so long. Poking and prodding your player base with major shifts in economy and the requirement to spend money on this game is not the way to go.… Expand

    710 hours in the game, and I'm hardly even close to finished, the grind is horrible, it's time to move on.

    Horrible grind, greedy company, you need to perform exceptionally well to make a decent amount of money, and if you fail, you get taxed almost 20,000 Silver Lions.

Grind is UNFATHOMABLY long. 1700+ hours and I have top tier in a SINGLE TECH TREE on a single nation, only using premium time without premium vehicles. Took about 700 hours to do so. The game is only ever advertised with modern vehicles, yet the time sinks to reach them are a complete joke.     Speed up the progression, remove repair prices, improve your game, keep selling your overpriced premium vehicles

    Once loved what was an amazing game. Unfortunately, Gaijin has torched the game, it's economy and alienated the player base all at once. It is impossible to enjoy the game at this point. It is bug ridden and the economy is so punishing to the player you will have to hand over your wallet and first born to progress properly.     I played this game since closed beta testing and was loving it. However, I stopped playing some time ago because the economy was getting worse and worse, and grind got unbearable even with premium account and premium vehicles.
    I hope they introduce some positive changes but, as they were decreasing rewards for couple of years already, I don't see it coming.

    One of the cornerstones of War Thunder is that player’s skill is more important than his wallet. Premium vehicles offer no combat advantages, there is no “microtransaction-only” ammo or consumables, so no amount of cash will buy you a spot on the top of the food chain. [Issue#216, p.56]

    The official launch of War Thunder reminded me why I like this game so much. It's adorably chaotic - in contrast to the reliably designed World of Tanks. That's why it can be really fun and frustrating at the same time. There's tons of great vehicles (and the planes are superb!) and a difficult simulation mode, but there are also balance and technical issues.
