War, the Game is a title that all strategy lovers should try out at least once in order to see how smaller teams can innovate by taking the classic concepts of the genre and turning them into something new.

War, the Game has stripped away the deep complexity typical of the real-time strategy game and left the player with a simple-to-learn, hard-to-master global dominance game that allows the armchair general to concentrate far more on the actual strategic planning and implementation of battle than on the logistics that support them.

A simple to play but hard to master strategy game at an absolute bargain price. A must-have for strategy fans.

War, the Game is as simple as the title suggests it is: a virtual imagination of RISK. Yet, anyone who looks beyond the simple presentation and rules can see a strategy game in its purest form. Tactics are everything, and if you lose you only have yourself to blame.

This title has some room for improvement, but those who spend time with it will find a challenging and accessible strategy game.

Going beyond the minimalist technical sector, this is an absolute deep wargame despite the extremely simple gameplay. It's all about the ideas that underlie it, that as in the best milestones pass over all the rest to give a deep and original product like few others.

A successful halfway house between a Command & Conquer style button-masher and a thoroughbred strategy game, with tense, fast-paced, but pleasingly tactical battles.

If you want more story, higher production quality and more layers of control that is fine, but try looking elsewhere. If you are like me and not the greatest strategy player in the world but still want to feel the thrill of managing an army to victory, then this game is for you.

My problem with War, the Game is that it's not really interesting enough.

Introversion Software’s DEFCON is cheaper and way better than this one.

Its low price tag is not enough to overshadow the fact that War, the Game delivers minimum content. Although it is natural to raise objections to its strategical aspect, a small number of scenarios and no multiplayer game are the things that are fatally snapping its neck.

Thats not to say that any strategy is missing, you must think hard about tactics and maneuvers you wish to use and it can become very challenging. The current price tag warrants the content, however its releasing on Steam very soon (will probably be on there whilst you read this) and with its steam release comes Multiplayer and delicious new content (not sure if the price will go up at all), which will add hours and hours to an already great experience. Really had fun with it. The only gripe I have with is the flag graphics could be cleaned up a lot. Full Review »

War, the Game is a war strategy game, sort of in the vein of Civilization games mixed with some war elements. Although it seems simple atWar, the Game is a war strategy game, sort of in the vein of Civilization games mixed with some war elements. Although it seems simple at first, the game starts to develop into a more sophisticated and challenging game even sometimes hard. It is a smooth RTS game with retro futuristic feeling, it has some awesome multiplayer, it includes a map editor with Steam Workshop (although I have not tested it), and it has some good yet sometimes out of place music.

This game is fun yet sometimes annoying and challenging
