    I enjoy the majority of fighting games I play, but Vanguard Princess has been a considerable disappointment. I tried to play with a controller on my PC, so any complaints I have regarding the controls should be understood in that context. When I started the game, it opened in a small window, with no way to adjust the resolution, which is very low. When I attempted to fullscreen the game,I enjoy the majority of fighting games I play, but Vanguard Princess has been a considerable disappointment. When I started the game, it opened in a small window, with no way to adjust the resolution, which is very low. When I attempted to fullscreen the game, it changed my resolution to fit the window over the entire screen, while leaving the window options and the top window bar. When I attempted to play a match in versus, it became clear that there is no option to play against AI, only against other people. When I attempted story mode, I realized there was no way to check combos during the match, they were only visible when selecting characters. On normal difficulty, I was able to defeat most opponents by spinning my joystick around while pressing random buttons to perform combos; however, when I made an active effort to use combos, the inability to check how combos are done made it almost impossible for me to get better. The lack of a skirmish match against AI, coupled with the lack of information given to the player makes the game nearly unplayable.

    The graphics and soundtrack are OK, but are nothing to write home about. The UI isn't very useful, nor is it visually appealing. All in all, the game feels very incomplete and it has no redeeming attributes which would make it worth any amount of money.    … Expand

Which is a shame, because I could actually see myself enjoying 'Vanguard Princess' if it weren't for so many technical issues. For starters, the game says that it has 'full controller support' but when plugging in a 'Microsoft Xbox 360' controller, arguably the most popular controller used on PCs today, it doesn't readThis game would be decent if it weren't such a horrible piece of trash. Strike one.

    Also, when putting this game into full screen resolution, the colors become incredibly distorted, forcing you to run the game in a much smaller window. Who the hell wants to do that? 'I didn't buy this nice big screen just to run games in windowed mode' is what I imagine many people have said out loud as a result of purchasing this game. It seems to me as if the makers of this video game aren't too good at making video games after-all. Pity, with so few fighting games on Steam, and this game having some similarities to one of my favorite fighting games of all time 'Marvel Vs Capcom 2', 'Vanguard Princess' is just a big let-down. Strike two.

    So finally, sick of messing around with the controller and trying to get it to work, I shut off the support, and mapped the keys using 'xPadder'. It works! Hooray! And...this game is pretty boring. The characters are all women, something I don't particularly enjoy, the combat isn't terrible, but grows old very quickly, there is no tutorial, there are limited attacks, the game is just bad. It's a shame I put so much effort, a few minutes, into trying to get this thing to run properly. Oh well, at least I got it for free. Which is more than I can say for some of you out there. Just know that whatever you do, for the love of god, don't get this game. Strike three, yer out!    … Expand

    Solid visuals but limited character selection and average combat. Presentation is also cluttered.
