A technically brilliant port of the most excellent strategy game gives you an order to join the war of Gallia. [Issue#249]

A long-awaited port of the PS3 classic. The game has aged incredibly well, thanks to its beautiful cell-shaded graphic style and well thought mechanics. It takes some time to get used to cheerful anime cast of characters in what is essentially tale of World War 2 horrors, but once one is over that hurdle Valkyria Chronicles is a thoroughly enjoyable light strategy game. Valkyria Chronicles is a timeless classic, and this exceptional PC port only manages to improve upon it.

If you’re a fan of RPGs, you should really check the game out; the story is engaging and the characters are fun, but it’s the charming picture-book aesthetic and unique combat system that really make the difference.

Valkyria Chronicles is one of the most unique and fun strategy games I’ve ever played, despite a few flaws with the port.

Valkyria Chronicles is gorgeous, engrossing, and not for the impatient. In other words, it's a great fit for PC gamers, who'll hopefully give the underappreciated Valkyria a wider audience than it found on PS3.

We waited for the PC version so long, but it was worth the wait. It’s a game that just doesn’t get old. It still looks great, sounds great and above all plays great. [01/2015, p.64]

Valkyria Chronicles is still one of the best tactical available, still fun and tasty. If you've never tried it, this game deserves to be played.

Valkyria Chronicles it's not a game for everybody but is an innovative, engrossing and admirable proposal that fuses genres with obvious skill.

This PS3-classic didn’t lose any of its magic. The visuals are beautiful, the turn based tactics challenging as always.

The strong story and gameplay remains intact, despite some small hiccups.

Great PC port for Steam. With its beautiful visual style, interesting characters and compelling story, Valkyria Chronicles tries to go beyond the usual Japanese SRPG mechanics, embracing a new system that combines direct and turn based action to great effect. The result is a game with true tactical sense, where different tactics can be successfully used according your play style.

Valkyria Chronicles is a good strategy/RPG that blends different gameplay elements together with an enjoyable outcome. Its story wraps up themes about war, friendship and racism, while its comic-style graphics age well, and its music is memorable. SEGA also delivers a decent port with all previously DLC included.

Some control issues aside, Valkyria Chronicles offers just as much fun on PC as it did six years ago on PS3.

Valkyria Chronicles game is a tactical and story-oriented RPG in Japanese style, which features a unique combat system, beautiful visuals and also some annoying problems with controls. But you definitely won’t be wrong if you give the game a chance.

A good port of a cult classic, although we expected Sega to add some new content or extras for the fans.

As bizarre a mix of genres, art style, and subject matter as you could ever hope to see, especially on the PC. But it all works and absolutely deserves this second shake of the die.

On one hand, I didn’t necessarily enjoy the gameplay. On the other hand, the story was enjoyable and this really is an excellent PC port both visually and how smoothly it runs.

More a puzzle game than a strategy game, the PC version of Valkyria Chronicles is a good port of an old PlayStation 3 game.

Valkyria Chronicles is an interesting title that certainly takes some of the core ideas of the Japanese role-playing game genre and twists them in innovative ways, but the whole package has not managed to fully capture my attention.

Props to SEGA for bringing this classic game to PC with great port.

    Pros:
    - Included all DLCs.
    - Japanese and English audio.
    - Full controller support (xinput).
    - High frame rate (up to 120 fps).
    - 4k support.

    Cons:
    - Graphic options is limited to v-sync, resolution, and frame limit, but there are various workaround.
    - Cinematic locked at 720p (at least it doesn't take 30gb++ space like a certain JRPG port).
    - Sound effect and voice problem during battles (fixed in day one patch).

SquareEnix need to learn from SEGA on how to port games to PC.

The combat is amazing, the squad managing and upgrading system is everything I ever asked in a such kind of game, and the soundtrack is great. The combat is amazing, the squad managing and upgrading system is everything I ever asked in a such kind of game, and the soundtrack is great. This is the best tactical RPG that I have ever played. Highly recommended.

The only problem I found is that the volume of sound effects are sometimes inconsistent (gunfire for example, is very low) but nothing that can stop me giving this game a 10/10.
