If you're into the survival crafting genre, action RPGs, or vampires in general, V Rising is an absolute blast, alone or with others.

V Rising offers an immersive vampire survival experience where players can sink their teeth into building, crafting, and battling in a gothic open world. The game’s blend of base-building and action-packed combat creates a unique and engaging experience, though its complexity might be daunting for newcomers. It’s a deep and rewarding adventure for those willing to invest the time and effort, making it a must-try for fans of survival and vampire lore.

V Rising is a delicious duo of survival-crafting and action-RPG fun that puts the best of both worlds together without making either side fall flat.

V Rising is an incredibly solid RPG that is set within a gothic world where we must battle through against mankind and the sunlight through the lenses of a vampire, trying to restore the glory that once was theirs. The combat and environment within V Rising are highly addicting and satisfying that roaming around the map will always yield positive results. V Rising has almost everything that I want within an RPG game, and those who seek a game to spend their summer this year might want to take a look at V Rising.

One of the best adventure survival ARPGs out there and one of the best vampire games ever: do you need anything else?

I genuinely believe that V Rising has a complete product for almost any type of player. The only reason you shouldn't give it a chance is if you absolutely don't like survival games. The only thing I would like it to have a bit more of is variety in the boss movements (especially in the first half of the game) and more variety in the music, but at least one of those complaints is addressed by the Brutal mode in this version 1.0.

Stunlock Studios has created a smash hit in V Rising. Not only is it a solid survival game, but it introduces creative mechanics to the genre that often depends on tried and true practices. The narrative is primed with areas the dev team can expand into, which I’m really looking forward to.

For reasons of time (the game is quite large) I dedicated myself almost exclusively to solo play, and from this point of view V Rising is certainly a very successful title, which alternates fights that are always on point with that sense of progression that never fails to provide a powerful stimulus. Every now and then you'll have to take a trip into the mine, though.

V Rising redefines the survival genre with its enthralling vampiric twist and rich, gothic landscapes, proving that being a vampire has never been more captivating.

V Rising has been nicely polished up during its dark slumber in Early Access, allowing it to fully rise to the occasion with its excellent boss design and challenging ARPG combat. Keeping the killing rays of the sun and your dwindling blood supply as ongoing concerns is effective and evocative in selling the vampire fantasy, as is the ability to craft the sprawling, spooky estates of my nightmares. And the huge amount of customization available when setting up your own private server practically eliminates the need to do chores that are timed to real-world days in a way that only really makes sense for playing with a larger clan and having those timers going even when you're not online. Arise, ye children of the night, and sink your teeth into one of the best ARPGs – and one of the best vampire games, in general – of this moonlit age.

V Rising may not have the deepest survival game mechanics around, but that is hardly a problem. The game crafted by Stunlock Studios masterfully weaves mechanics from very different genres to provide an experience like any other on the market. While solo players may find the experience becoming a little stale over time, everyone else will find plenty of reasons to remain in this world, whether it's to perfect their characters or build the most haunting vampire castle ever seen.

An even better version of one of the best Early Access survival games.

V Rising is a captivating vampire fantasy with atmospheric survival mechanics, despite the sometimes tedious hunt for resources.

While the game isn’t particularly difficult to survive or find ways, its fast-paced, intense combat compensates for the lack of tension. It is impressive that V Rising faithfully captures the vampire fantasy, but the depth of the content doesn’t quite match its breadth.

V Rising makes being a vampire fun, with a great feeling of being both predator and prey. With plenty of challenges to face, both from the world and other players, alone or with friends.

After nearly two years of updates, V Rising has evolved into a content-rich survival builder. It not only faithfully recreates the various characteristics of vampires in its gameplay, but also creates a unique combat experience, making it a remarkably solid survival building game.

V Rising does almost everything right to offer satisfaction to the player who wants both solid action gameplay, and opportunities to unleash their architectural talents. Unfortunately, the few things it gets wrong are significant enough to keep it from receiving rave reviews.

From Early Access to the 1.0 release: V Rising is now a promising survival game with vampire elements. If you're more interested in building than in blood, you'll know which game to capture in your cart.

V Rising blends survival, exploration, and action RPG elements in a vampire-themed world where gameplay mechanics shine despite a narrative that feels secondary. It excels in its engaging combat system and deep crafting mechanics, while offering both solo and cooperative gameplay options, although it lacks narrative depth and has limited decorative choices.

Despite a technical sector that is not cutting edge and a gameplay structure that is at times repetitive, V Rising works and is the perfect mix between survival and action RPG. Whether you play alone or in the company of some friends, it's really fun to dedicate yourself to hunting powerful targets that make the protagonist stronger, as well as trying your hand at building a base, which step by step becomes bigger and fuller of comforts. In short, it is a product that all fans of the genre should give a chance.

V Rising felt like an enjoyable survival crafting experience on controller once I got into the groove of it. Its fascinating blend of Diablo style action-RPG elements with deep progression, crafting, and building all work in tandem. While the world often feels empty at times due to the lack of NPCs to talk to, whether playing alone or with others, and there is no meaningful story of note, its gameplay hooks and vampire theme make this worth a look in its long-awaited 1.0 release.

V Rising has many elements that keep things fun, engaging, and easy to get lost in for literal days at a time. The full launch might bring a lot of old players back, as it brings new content and massive amounts of new crafting tables, bosses, features I won’t mention for the sake of spoilers, and just better quality-of-life features than the early access version.

In a “Diabolic” tone, V Rising takes us on a hunt for demons, undead and mythological beasts; in a world where vampires don't control everything. Hiding from the sun has never been so fun in this survival adventure where we are promised long hours of play.

V Rising is quite a fun package with great progression, but is held back by how extremely grindy it can be. The combat feels good (albeit can be stale with limited movesets) with the selection of skills and spells you unlock with each boss defeat, the world feels great to explore even while keeping to the shade during the day, and the building feels right at home with some modern city-builders. I think it’s definitely worth giving it a shot, especially with friends, because the solo experience can be quite boring after a while unless you’re really into a solo survival experience. Definitely keep your eyes on this title, and maybe wait for a sale to really sink your teeth into if you’re hesitant.

It's a good survival RPG game because it has a lot of identity. Vampire mechanics are so fun and builder mode too, but you lose a lot of time farming and taking things from chests when you are building your castle or using crafting tables.

V Rising is an online survival game that provides a ripe amount of fun, provided you have friends to play with. Lone vampires will get tired or bored quickly. And if you crave PVP there are servers just for that! There's something for everyone, but mind your time, it flies by very quickly.

A peculiar but well-conceived concept that brings together multiple disparate gameplay elements, to create a highly customisable, but occasionally somewhat shallow, vampire sim.

V Rising offers something distinct, and pretty cookie cutter at the same time. It’s a survival game, but with a novel genre blend meant to attract a different kind of audience. There’s a lot of these, but V Rising brings the action-RPG and gothic styles to the table in a way that feels unique. So that’s fun, but the survival and crafting part is about as boilerplate as it gets. Therefore, if you’re the type of person that shrivels up and shrieks at survival game systems like a vampire considering the concept of brunch, V Rising won’t change your mind. But if you can hang with the concept and also enjoy some Diablo-like combat, having those two things together in one game is pretty rad.

V Rising has all the necessary elements to become a long-lasting success. Thanks to a balanced mix of Action RPG, crafting and survival, it offers addictive gameplay like few others in the genre. [Recommended]

For now, though, I have no qualms with recommending you play it, especially at a price point as low as this. From its enjoyable and flexible combat to the way you can build such incredible castles and kick back with friends, I’ve not stopped thinking about V Rising every moment I’m not playing. It’s clear now it has teeth, but I’m excited to find out if it has legs, too. [Early Access Review]

V Rising is a decent multiplayer survival sim. The game definitely deserves your attention. For a small price, you can get a large amount of content that will take dozens of hours to complete and this is only just the beginning. [Early Access Provisional Score = 90]
  4. May 28, 2022
Coming out of almost nowhere, V Rising is definitely a promising title. [Early Access Score = 80]
  5. In a market muddled with subpar survival games, V Rising is a noticeable step above the rest. The vampire aesthetic is executed upon phenomenally well, and the ARPG mechanics match the themes to perfection. Progression and base building are intuitively designed, and feature some nice range of depth to them. All in all, this is a superb game and a much-welcomed change of pace. It should only serve to get better once it eventually leaves early access. [Early Access Provisional Score = 80]

On the surface, V Rising appears to be just another survival game, slathered with a different coat of paint. In many ways, it’s hard to argue otherwise. However, it manages to layer complex systems inspired by the popular mythology of the vampire to distinguish it from the sea of survival games. While V Rising hasn't completely satiated my thirst in its current form, I’m hopeful that it will somewhere down the line.
  7. Launching into 1.0, V Rising is in a great spot. This is a survival game that doesn't faff around and is wonderfully streamlined, making your climb through the vampiric ranks a bounty hunting delight with little in the way of chores. To be honest, the game was worth getting in early access, and with 1.0, my thoughts remain the same. Get this if you're a survival fan who wants a good time by yourself or with pals, and especially if you love some MOBA combat.
