Every weapon that was in "Unreal" has been given a total facelift for Unreal Tournament. Everything has been totally redrawn and textured - the overall look of the weapons is quite impressive.
-
Without better DM map design, more polished graphics and artwork and maybe more panache in the weapons design department, we don't feel that Unreal Tournament is quite ready to earn our seal of approval as the uber-shooter to carry gaming into the next millennium.
-
Not really a revolutionary game, but it is almost perfect at what it does. This is the definitive straight multi-player first person shooter. It is an amazing game that never fails to impress or entertain.
-
The combination of several dozen professionally designed levels, competitive bots, and entertaining game modes will be hard for DM enthusiasts to resist.
-
Though UT isnt supporting the curved surfaces like Quake III, the texture quality is excellent and the lighting is unparalleled.
-
Everything in the game is utter perfection. Whether you're in it for the single player quest or the online extravaganza Unreal Tournament doesn't have what you need -- IT IS what you need.
-
A title that is as close to flawless as I've ever seen, both in its ability to entertain and in its finely honed technology and presentation.
-
A first person shooter loaded with astounding maps, diverse game styles, great weapons, and the best bots in the business.
-
Rises above the rest with its solid multiplayer performance, from its good weapon balance to its great level design...The most complete first-person shooter available.
-
The graphics are a match for anything else on the market, and the game doesn't need a supercomputer to run it.
-
But what separates UT from Quake 3 is its glossy presentation...Audio in UT is also superb.
-
A new generation, looking a lot prettier, playing a lot smoother, and sounding a lot better, but with very little innovation.
-
What fantastic level design! It is impeccable and superb.
-
One of the most enjoyable single-player and multiplayer action games ever. [Feb 2000, p.92]
-
The mutators, bots, teams, and sheer number of maps give the game an awesome depth and replayability.
-
UT is a great game thanks to a combination of excellent level design, weapon balancing, intelligent bots, option tweaking, and numerous play modes.
-
If you play only one FPS this year, it will probably be "Quake 3," but if you play two FPS games this year, give Unreal Tournament a try.
-
The smartest, best looking, all around coolest action game -- ever.
-
Everything about Unreal Tournament is spectacular and in your face.
-
All of this is bundled with an intuitive Windows-style GUI, a painless point-and-tap process for connecting to online matches, and some of the nicest graphical wrapping gamers are going to see this Christmas.
-
With all of the play modes, excellent multi-player setup, great graphics, and absolutely amazing level design, this game stands high as a shining example of what a first person shooter should be.
