A scepter to tame them, a scepter to find them, a scepter to bring them all and in the dark bind them. More or less. Let's say that poetic freedom is a must since Unexplored 2: The wayfarer's Legacy is a not too veiled tribute to Tolkien's work.

Unexplored 2 is an incredibly ambitious and beautiful game that will captivate the player with well thought out survival systems. However, its lackluster story and lack of polish will be a major hinderance for anyone who wants to become a wayfarer.

Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy does what it sets out to do. It creates a genuine sense of adventure that is only intensified by its procedurally-generated structure. The game does have its issues, with combat that struggles to really make the player feel involved, but nonetheless it's an enjoyable experience.

Unexplored2 is an ambitious and interesting roguelike that falls short of what it could be. The unique Dungeons & Dragons inspired roleplaying system is let down by lacklustre combat feel and a litany of bugs that lead to frustration. I do think it’s a title that’s worth keeping an eye on though, as there’s a whole heap of potential resting just under the surface.

Unexplored 2 has potential, but right now the adventure's unreliable and storytelling's seriously flawed.

  1. You're likely to have similar dust-ups and shakedowns, of course, given the component parts of any procedural machine. But vitally, Unexplored 2 makes the player feel adventurous and special. Even when you've got no money, no XP, and no shoes. [RPS Bestest Bests]
