Umbrella Corps

Every level is very small, and no matter where you decide to hole up, it will be easy for enemies to flank you. It’s not bad by itself, but such design makes cover system – which was to become one of Umbrella Corps’ trump cards – redundant. So it comes as no surprise that combat quickly devolves into chasing after one another with one-hit-kill ax in hand. Of course, it’s hard to talk about tactics or teamplay in this lumberjack’s paradise. [Issue#211, p.56]

That being said though, this is not a fantastic game by any account and while there’s a little fun to be had in a frantic online match, there are much better ways to get your competitive shooter fix.

What it boils down to is that Umbrella Corps is an interesting idea that had potential, but was ultimately ruined by poor execution.

Umbrella Corps has potential and interesting concepts - and not much more. Few engaging moments can't hide the overall mediocrity and lack of polish. Patches can improve the game in a long run, but so far there's little to be excited about.

Umbrella Corps has no clue what it wants to be, and that translates into a frustrating, confounding experience. Tiny maps, wildly unbalanced gameplay and a general lack of polish and focus makes this one Resident Evil entry that you’re better off avoiding.

Just, unenjoyable. A side project that should never have been attempted.

Umbrella Corps is a multiplayer action with zero value. The game is flawed with all sorts of issues, including dysfunctional matchmaking, small number of players, poor visuals and tragic AI of zombies. Hands off.

Umbrella Corps is the most expensive free-to-play that you will find in the market. Not only is its gameplay terrible, but its online mode does not feature anybody to play with, so the game is almost dead by now. Capcom made us cry.

Umbrella Corps is a big game from a major publisher in a popular franchise in that franchise’s anniversary year, and it’s both awful and dead on arrival. Now I see why Capcom didn’t tell anyone that it came out.

There is almost nothing good to say about Umbrella Corps. Seeing the classic Resident Evil maps was the only good aspect of this game. It's a pure mistake to release a game like this. Having a 'Resident Evil' title is not enough for a game to be good I'm afraid.

It’s hard to imagine anyone beyond the most die-hard Resident Evil fans picking this game up, and even they will likely leave feeling ripped off. Umbrella Corps feels like cheap, soulless fanservice in a tactical-action package.

Pointless and bad multiplayer game to put it plain – it is difficult to find any positives. Play rather the old Unreal Tournament, you will enjoy it much more. [Issue#266]

In the end, all we could come up with was that Umbrella Corps was meant to reach out to everyone and ended up being something that will please no one.
