Typoman: Revised is a game where you command the wind and rain by word. Only small issues spoil this mixture of unique gameplay and atmosphere, fortunately. You will remember this arcade where you write more than you fight for a long time.

Definitely a step up from the original iteration. It has more of its own style, and the gameplay mechanics rarely feel clunky. Though it hints at a meaningful narrative, ultimately it isn’t very substantial.

The game just wasn’t quite what I expected it to be. It’s also a shame that it’s so short.

Remarkable platformer with original gameplay, elaborated puzzles and rough poetics. The visual aspect of the game is delightful, but the game time is short and there are troubles with user-unfriendly controls. [Issue#272]

Despite having cool atmosphere and unique ideas, Typoman: Revised‘s puzzles and platforming leave a lot to be desired.

So many witty puzzles which will have you smirk a lot about the developer's creativity. From simple things (like spikes that you fall into which actually spell AAAAAAAA), or monsters that are made of evil words like HATE, which you fight with words like LOVE and TRUTH. Sometimes you die and can't solve the puzzle if you don't go back to a shielded area which is made of the word FAITH. GENIOUS! If you have a basic understanding of the English language then you will have a blast. Basic is enough, because most words you need to understand are like OPEN, DOWN, TILT and so on, plus you will eventually solve the puzzle using trial and error and I found out that most puzzles allow multiple solutions which is great! Is Typoman one of the games worth your time and money? I have found many positives in the game - story presentation, original ideas, disturbing game atmosphere, inventive level design and puzzles, gradual learning curve, balanced difficulty, easy and responsive controls and atmospheric audiovisuals. There are not many negatives - just clunky rearranging of letters when creating words, just one and sometimes quite complicated solution of each puzzle and maybe the absence of some co-op multiplayer that would make the game more suitable for family playing. When it comes to this, I can recommend the game for older kids only. At first, they need to have quite good knowledge of English and also they will less likely have the nightmares caused by the oppressive game atmosphere.

    Pros:
    - story presentation
    - original ideas
    - atmosphere
    - level design
    - challenging puzzles
    - balanced difficulty
    - controls
    - artistic graphics
    - music and sounds

    Cons:
    - clunky rearranging of letters
    - just one solution for each puzzle
    - absence of local co-op multiplayer

If you are looking for a game that improves your typing skills you are on the wrong address indeed but if you want to play a good puzzle platformer based on playing with letters this one would be one of the best in its genre. I am giving Typoman Thumbs Up and VideoGaming Father’s Index 8+ out of 10 - recommended!
