I have never played Theme Hospital before, so I missed out on the fun that most people say they had when they played the prequel to this game. I've played all sorts of sim games, so naturally I was interested in Two Point Hospital as well.

The game is pretty interesting and keeps you interested for quite some time, but it heavily lacks variety so you'll only be able to play it in bursts. It's more of a need fulfillment simulator than a tycoon sim. There isn't a lot of variation with what you do besides making sure that both your patients and your staff are happy and healthy.

As you progress further into the game, more elements are introduced to make the game more varied, and the objectives get harder to fulfill in order to beat the map. There is a lot of micromanaging involved so that everyone is equally satisfied.

The reason why I didn't give this game an 8 is because some features in the game are basically ignored like setting the prices to things and customizing rooms, and because some mechanics can be abused to fulfill certain objectives without any sense of aesthetic or logic (i.e. you can spam paintings to meet the attractiveness need).

Also, there is a serious bug where you can't meet the needs of patients even when you've met them. For example, even when you have plenty of vending machines installed to fulfill a person's need for hunger, they might never use them and just starve themselves to dissatisfaction, causing you to lose that patient for no justifiable reason. This was hugely unfair and didn't follow common sense.

In any case, I think a good amount of fun can be had with this game, but I don't think it deserves anything higher than an 8. It is a sim that's nowhere near as complex as a game like The Sims. I think anyone who gives it a 9 or 10 is probably just biased because they loved playing Theme Hospital in the past. Not that nostalgia isn't a good thing I suppose, but reviews should not be influenced by that as well as hype.

The develpers once more succeeded in rendering the hospital fun and sympatethic, with every

HIghlights for me are the Freddy Mercury impersonator or the Overly joyful Clowns.
An absolute must-buy for fans of the genre, that has surprisingly been resurgent in the last months.

Favorite Thing: Building up your first few hospitals is rather exciting.
Least Favorite Thing: Every new hospital is very sameish and getting them up and running is repetitive.

    Date Completed: 2018-10-25
Playtime: 17h (3 stars in the first few, 1 star in the next six ... or so)
    Enjoyment: 8/10
Recommendation: Yeah. It's quite fun, even if the enjoyment drops off steeply before the end.

A decent modern remake of Theme Hospital (which I played back in 1998 on PlayStation1 and for many years after on PC, the DOS version).

Pros: - it stays very close to the original, so if you always liked Theme Hospital and now want your kids/mom/spouse to try that game out, at least they won't be put off with the old DOS graphics and be able to edit the rooms with a more comfortable 3D

    - it stays very close to the original, so if you always liked Theme Hospital and now want your kids/mom/spouse to try that game out, at least they won't be put off with the old DOS graphics and be able to edit the rooms with a more comfortable 3D camera
    - it's the same voice actress saying stuff like "patients are requested to not die in the corridors"

    So-so:
    - the 3D models somewhat lack detail for my taste. They have big round low-poly heads... Strangely, I like the pixelated 2D DOS graphics of the original more because it had more character
    - just like the original, as soon as you've mastered the mechanic, there isn't all that much to do in the game. The original would just throw more frequent earthquakes at you or send waves of patients from a helicopter - that's where you'd probably stop playing but that's kinda ok because the topic itself (managing a hospital) isn't all that fun, and kudos to Bullfrog (and to this modern remake) for making it as entertaining as it could possibly be.

    Cons:
    - the game lacks in humor. Instead it feels just casual. The original was fun in a "hardcore" way: with circus-style music, strong jokes (a doctor with a chainsaw on the starting screen!) and an overall "adult" feel. Here you have relaxing music, some mediocre radio channel filling up the background, round-ish GUI and politically correct, generic jokes about overpriced medicare in the US, pharma industry - I guess that would work for people coming from mobile but compared to Theme Hospital this just makes the game dull.

Overall, a decent remake, with some character lost to political correctness and the desire to appeal to casual players.

It's easy to go through the menus, including employee management, general dashboard, various pricing, etc. ...

Very accessible design with a direction that does not take itself too seriously.

All in all, great, refreshing management game, considering that we don't get a chance to run a hospital very often.

So you not only get a spiritual successor with modern graphics for "Theme Hospital" that is equally hilarious and fun to watch, but as this point has a far more detailed build mode and controls a lot more fluid. You should however really be into decorating rooms, because you will do that a lot.

I would like to see some of the management options that have been removed added back in, while some of the weaknesses of the original have unfortunately been carried over - like the repetitiveness, or the fact that you can't specialise your hospital. You always have to build everything possible, and fit it into a given building that you can't edit. There are some unfortunate flaws in the AI that will lead to a lot more micromanagement than you would like, e.g. to stop patients from using that toilet at the other end of the lot and die on their way there instead of the GP office where they've been waiting.

So that you have to edit queues, move doctors around, send a lot of people home manually and similar ongoing busywork. Longterm you'll also start to hate the "advisor" who is mainly stating the obvious and is always panicking while never saying anything positive.

Despite that it's a fun time killer that won't challenge you too much, but entertained me and satisfied that nostalgia for old-school building simulations reasonably well.

You want a prestige of six hire two nurses and build a toilet. You do not need it? Well when you want prestige six you need to have more employees - there is no sense in it

For the most part the management side of things is really good. It does sort of repeat the same pattern again and again for each new hospital. But new stuff is introduced each time you start over so I don't feel like it's a chore. And with the challenges, both local and online, there's always something to pay attention to and strive for. On top of that you can earn the in-game Kudoshes and buy new items to spread around. And this is where it turns into playing "doll house" I guess. And the same way I like The Sims, I also like decorating my hospital. Admittedly, some of it gets a bit tiring as most rooms need a basic set of stuff each time. But it's fun to top it off with new and interesting items.
Staff management is a bit broken. It tries to make you enable/disable certain staff for certain tasks to optimize everything. But in the end, you just ignore that part and let them do as they please as the staff list grows to an impossible to manage length. But I don't really care. The game is fun and cozy and it makes me feel relaxed when I play it.
I'd love to see a Two Point Park or other similar games.

The very first example you encounter is "light-headedness"- people who now have light bulbs for heads.

The three strongest points in my opinion are the animations, the background radio announcers, and room construction. The animations are smooth, very creative (especially when curing patients) and fun to spectate. The various radio announcers and the hospital PA speaker are also very humorous. Laying the groundwork and outfitting rooms is surprisingly enjoyable; the developers have done a good job making it straight-forward, but fulfilling at the same time.

I think the game could use a sandbox mode with different difficulty settings and I wasn't sure how I felt about every illness requiring a separate room. It felt like some rooms could be consolidated, but that could just be a difficulty decision.

Overall, the game is solid, though the price leaves something to be desired. I highly recommend purchasing the game on sale if it dips below $25.

    - Room building is very tedious, has not learnt from other sim games (prefabs / templates).
    - Game balance is very poor: money is unimportant, room attraction can be gamed due to linear balance curve, training process can be unintuitive, flow and pacing causes big lulls (but not lulz).

for those who remember theme hospital (TH) you basically build rooms and put staff in them than get patients to go into these rooms to find out what is wrong with them than send them to cure rooms to get cured. eventually though you end up building the same rooms over and over with the exact same items over. and over...well i'm afraid it's exactly the same in this.

what would have been good was a copy room button where you can copy a rooms design and quickly build it again instead you have to build EACH room from scratch EACH time this gets tiresome and boring really quickly just like the original TH.

But the problems don't stop there later on your going to get hit with what i call near death patients if you leave these alone you get hit with DEATH waves patients will be dropping likes flies left and right you will have to micro manage these either by telling them to get cured or sending them to the front of the queue this is what you will be doing 90% of the time!

Oh no but there's more the way the game is supposed to work is a patient goes into the GP room, gets diagnosed and either sent to a cure room or sent to a diagnosis room. 50% of the time it doesn't work like that i have literally watched a patient go into the gp, into a diagnosis room, back to gp than to ANOTHER diag room and back to GP and sometimes to yet another diag room!

the game is utterally broken at the moment your better off just selecting patients and telling them to go straight to the cure room the gp system just doesn't work properly and you will find the queues sky rocketing to 20+ really fast too which means YES MORE micro managing!!

The graphics may have changed and there are different cure rooms but i'm afraid this still follows the flawed system of the original TH

if you want to play this I'd wait till it's on sale for $15 no way IMO is it worth $30!

Two Point Hospital is a Builder, Management and Simulation game. The game starts with a tutorial that extends for the first 3 or 4 hospitals that you build, every time getting a little harder. It starts very easy, though, so newbies won't have a problem.

Pros: + Nice comic graphics and animations + Funny diseases and treatments + Easy to learn + You can play multiplayer and compete

    Pros:

    + Easy to learn
+ You can play multiplayer and compete
    + Many unlockables
    + I haven´t encountered any bug yet

    Cons:
    - The UI at the bottom left has words instead of pictures (for instance: "Rooms", "Items" and "Hire", when it would have been better to have a square, a tool and a face, or something like that)
    - The game starts too easy, and you have to play a few levels for it to become a bit of a challenge
    - The loading page takes its time

I was a huge fan of Theme Hospital and I had been waiting for a spiritual successor to come out for quite a while. This is it. I can't say I like this one better, but I really enjoy it. (I miss the voices in Spanish! They were hilarious).

The funniest and colorful strategy game I have ever played. The music is good for the mood, so are the mission related to those crazy sicknesses.

I think this game is very funny. I liked it and ı played minimum 15 hours. But ı didn't finished. Because after the half of the game you are doing same things agaşn and again and again. And ı am bored. If you want the funny and different game you can try. You will enjoy too many hours.

Really fun, casual hospital sim / management game! I definitely recommend the game and all of it's DLCs especially on sale.
I really can't think of any real negatives here for this game, it's just solid.

    + Good comedy
    + Good soundtrack and audio
    + Has a sandbox mode
+ Workshop support for posters, rugs, textures

    - Some sections trying to level up your hospital can take a while
    - Would love to be able to customize outside

It's what you would expect from the type of game. Build your hospital, cure diseases, manage your staff and unlock an array of hospitals throughout multiple years as you work your way up to be a brilliant organization. The game is nothing unique or impactful, but loads of fun that will give you value, although might become a bit repetitive after a while. Its presentation is cute, the music surprisingly catchy. However, the game focuses a lot on over-the-top and, "funny" diseases like mad clown disease. It goes a bit overboard with its concept, and loses a lot of realism which is a bit off-putting. Either way, it's a well crafted, fun and cool game to pass some time.

Overall: It's nothing unique or mind-blowing, but it's fun. You'll enjoy the experience and will be delighted to run your hospital organization. Just keep in mind that's more quirky than realistic.

Отличный симулятор больницы как в старые добрые времена. Атмосферная игра, геймплей на уровне, затягивает. 8/10!

No puedes dejar de jugar. Es un vicio absoluto. Pocos peros le puedo poner a este excelente título. Las actualizaciones no han hecho más que mejorarlo y completar una experiencia que se vuelve sublime e inolvidable.

Two Point hospital is a fun and goofy hospital simulator that has you run and managing, well, a hospital. Build your hospitals, expand them, get their reviews up, and create a new one. The gameplay loop is quite fun but feels really repetitive. Overall, its quite a fun game, but don't expect to get too many hours out of it. Two Point Hospital is a fairly decent and entertaining management style game. I've played simulation games before, like Cities Skylines, so I figured it would be up my alley.

Over time, the levels get progressively harder and there's more things to meet, like attractiveness requirements - but this can just be countered by spam placing paintings on every wall that you own.

Fairly decent game for the genre.

This game is good. It's a nice, silly, some-what cynical hospital builder where you buy strange contraption for curing strange illnesses and yet the humans are somehow even odder. The music is great BGM and the in-universe adverts can be funny, but the occasional interruptions from the cynical and paranoid Harrison Wolf, the posh and proud Nigel Bickleworth or the upbeat and optimistic Ricky Hawthorne makes the somewhat tedious job of managing customer, employee and ethical complaints far more enjoyable. A good buy if you like this genre, but it doesn't do much to branch out to those who don't. Expand

Just like Theme Hospital two decades ago, Two Point Hospital doesn’t take the whole medical stuff seriously, which makes it fun and accessible, but despite all the giggles it still is a simulation deep enough to satisfy those more demanding. [11/2018, p.62]

The successor of Theme Hospital didn´t avoid flaws, but once you get immersed in the game, you will travel twenty years back in time with elegant style and modern graphics. Nothing more, but that's enough. [Issue#289]

A humorous and absolutely charming game, created with extreme care. It has its drawbacks, like the low challenge and the poorly designed sand box mode, but overall this is one of the most enjoyable simulation games of 2018.
