Literally a mobile game, unplayable with keyboard, disgustingly bad controls, guaranteed waste of time at least 5 hours wandering around figuring out what to do and where to go. Just don't waste your precious time with this crap mobile game.

The game has a great mysteric athmospere to it, it looks great and the music is nice. The progression is engaging and you really get immersed in the world.
What I didn't like was the final puzzles to complete the game and the story that was too vague.

Zelda wannabe? Beautiful graphic and scene design, but I'm really disappointed with the design and gameplay mechanic... In nut shell, nothing is new...

Great concept, poor execution. These words sum up Tunic for me. From the visuals to the combat, the character designs and sound design, Tunic seems like it should be a great game. However, you can't just throw all this into a world, and then expect your players to just know where to go at every turn, especially if the player is likely to miss a ton of necessary items. This game is a masterpiece, containing perfect gameplay mechanics and staying true to it's main inspiration. To those who say it copies "Zelda", you obviously knew nothing of the game. A very good Zelda-like game. The animations are really good, I like the graphic style. You can tell that a lot of attention to detail has been put into this game. Some bosses are though, but not to the level of Dark Souls like I've seen the comparison. All in all, a solid 30-hours indie game that is well worth the money.

Excellent game by a solo developer. Often achieves the quality you’d find in a legend of Zelda game made by a team of hundreds of people. The challenges are tough but meaningful and the progression elements and puzzle solving is interesting and reward exploration. The art style is great, clean, readable, cute, and overall I had an outstanding time playing this game.

This is the first review I have ever written for such a fantastic game. Yes, lets start with the cliche, this is a Zelda 1 esque game. You need to see this game with the eyes of a child to understand what you need to do. You need to see this game with the eyes of a child to understand what you need to do. You're a fox, apparently alone in this island, you need to find the scattered manual pages to read and understand game mechanics. While you continue exploring the island youll find some hard foes that might be difficult to beat them unless you have leveled yourself up using the godess statues. I have been playing this game for 14 hours and I think I'm almost finished with it. The game has made me feel like a little girl playing TLoZ on my NES with my brother. You need to explore and keep your eyes open for hidden doors, puzzles and chests. Give this amazing game a try and you'll not be dissapointed, the game indeed is HARD. specially the quarry and the ghost zone. Now, talking about the design, its so flawless, its amazing how the team behind tunic got such a neat artstyle. the exploration is really good, and again, if youre stuck, remember to think like a little kid who just wants to have fun. Tunic really is something special and beneath the cutesy and simple appearance, this is a love letter to all classic exploration game fans. It also borrows inspiration from other games like the Souls games. The story its so good if you collect the manual and make it all fit together like in a big puzzle.

The soundtrack is also something to praise, as it blends magically with the visuals.

with my 14 in game hours and 240 out of 1000 gamerscore, I definitely will finish this game multiple times to get all those points.
in my opinion, this has been the best game so far in 2022.

Nice ideas but can be really frustrating at times. There are invincibility and infinite stamina options in the accessibility menu but both just kill all the immersion of the game, kind of using a trainer. This laughably low health and learn from mistakes thing has really worn out.

The game's gorgeous, the music's great.
Everybody says that this is a mix of Zelda and Dark Souls, but it doesn't seem to understand what makes these games great.
Very weird design decisions, not worth its price.
Huge disappointment, I was really hoping for this to be good.

I have problems with save bases in this game. I might die once or twice when I encounter a new enemy type, they should take that into account. But it's a waste of time and money to have to cross a long road and pass a few minor enemies every time I die. Other than that, it has a nice atmosphere and game dynamics.

Due to graphics the world doesn't give you right cues about possible paths. Sure there should be secret paths, but in general main paths should be easy to recognise. Next problem is the world layout feels chaotic, disorientating and doesn't flow. Finally controls and combat feels sluggish and isn't fun, and the stamina makes it even more tedious. A similar Zelda inspired game with way way better combat and design in general was HOB which I recommend over this one. Expand

    Absolutely wonderful.

Loved playing through with my wife, we tackled the puzzles together and the feelings of figuring it out ourselves was amazing and so nostalgic.

There was one particular puzzle though, a riddle, now that one was the wrong kind of nostalgia, like old adventure games where you just have no idea what logic they are working on, but everything else was just fantastic.

Brilliant design where a game boldly decides to challenge and believe in the player to figure out their game and get the most out of it. Sure it may turn off some players - and reasonably so (so it's not for everyone), but the ones who get it, get it.

Combat is a good effort, some chaotic decisions made in terms of controls and leading to my only hit on this title, but you should definitely try your hand at this game. Too clever not to.

Tunic is a combination of the best parts of The Legend of Zelda and Fez. While the game starts off as a standard action adventure Zelda-like game, it becomes something way more grand. Then the game takes a turn, you turn into your ghost form self and must kill the final boss, but all your upgrades have been taken away. You then have to explain the same world you've been exploring except now it the ghost world to get your upgrades back. Once you get them back you can defeat the final boss way easier and beat the game. Sound pretty good, right? But that's not the turn in game that makes it so special. There is a secret in this game called the holy cross that elevates this game to a masterpiece. I won't explain what exactly it is but the secrets hidden underneath the games world that you don't even notice are incredible. The holy cross reminds me of the second half of Fez which is something I didn't think would have been able to be recreated again. For the combat the bosses are very fun and aren't total pushovers and take some effort. Uncovering the mysteries and secrets hidden in the game were an all time high experience in gaming in 2022 and I highly recommend this game to anyone who calls themselves a gamer. Expand

An incredibly unique adventure game coated in mystique and filled with mysteries and secrets everywhere. You play as a simple fox that has to figure out its own path through the world without any assistance except for your own wit and intuition.

Words cannot do this game justice. It is one of the best adventures to come out over the past decade, and from an indie company to boot. Every bit of it is unique in its design and execution, and the atmosphere and music are pleasant to the eyes and ears. Being able to find hidden paths around every corner is incredibly engaging. The cryptic language that you have to decipher yourself is an unexpectedly welcome twist. The instruction manual in-game is filled with puzzles to decipher.

If you've been looking for a fun, adorable, and yet intriguing adventure game with plenty to explore and discover, Tunic will keep you satisfied the entire journey long. Time genuinely feels like it passes by slower as you play, with an hour feeling more like three. It is highly addictive and hard to put down once you get engrossed in its serene world.

Sadly, the only reason why I cannot give this game a 10 is the occasionally unbalanced level of difficulty of certain enemies, such as bosses. Tunic, on the surface, looks like a game that is simple and can be enjoyed by everyone, but when the second boss feels like a Dark Souls boss that can kill you in two seconds flat, it disrupts the pacing of the game and only serves to annoy you. The rest of the game is rather straightforward, and there are often times alternative means of resolving issues.

Tunic is truly a masterpiece of game design: a modern day Zelda with all the complexity it needs to thrive with gamers today. If you like running around a beautiful fantasy land, sword fighting fantasy baddies, or translating ancient languages, Tunic will have something for you to sink your teeth into. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend picking this foxy little gem up.
