Trials Rising does so much right. It doesn’t muddy the gameplay with distracting additions. It has dozens of excellent courses. And it has great systems for playing against your friends either with online multiplayer or asynchronously with ghosts.

If you enjoyed the previous Trials titles, you already have Trials Rising in your game library, there is no discussion about it. If you've never had the chance to play any of Trials Evolution and Trials Fusion, Rising is a great way to get started.

A marvellously accomplished realisation of RedLynx’s deranged vision for the series, which somehow manages to be both the most accessible and most unforgiving Trials game to date.

Trials Rising on PC, PS4 and Xbox One delivers a great amount of content, with a lot of customization, from character to tracks itselves. That being said, we would have liked some new ideas for the franchise and more interesting multiplayer tracks.

Trials Rising is a technically amazing racing game with great tracks. The authors still have many ideas about how to make the old series attractive. They just mustn't exaggerate the difficulty and lootboxes. [Issue#294]

The core-concept of the motorcycle-action works splendidly in Trials Rising. Every now and then, you catch yourself thinking: “Just one more race.” But not everything is perfect. The loading times between races are quite long and take you a little bit out of the experience. Another thing that bugs me: the huge amount of - basically useless - customization. Graphically though, Trials Rising looks great. Only the Nintendo Switch version looks considerably worse.

On the bike, though, Trials Rising is close to flawless, a demanding, absorbing and occasionally rage-inducing game that will serve you up an exciting challenge for as long as you can take it.

An extraordinarily solid mix of racing, platforming, and puzzling your way through stunning and devilish obstacle courses, only let down by the fluff surrounding the core experience.

Trials Rising has an impressive new tutorial, even more extensive customization, and an awesome pool of levels that can be disappointingly discouraging to unlock.

Trials Rising isn’t trying to be realistic, it’s trying to be simple fun, and at that it excels. It looks good, it will make you laugh, and most importantly, it’s entertaining.
  12. Trials Rising has good and smooth gameplay mechanics. Also level designs are pretty good. But graphics seem like they are from an older generation.

Where Trials Rising falls off is with its presentation. While the tracks are all unique in appearance and boast expert level design, the visuals on PC felt dated. I’m not looking for realism, but I was disappointed to find low-quality textures and an overall lack of polish. Console players might not share that view, but it was noticeable in my experience.

All of these tracks are easy or medium and If you actually want to play the good content, the hard and extreme tracks that made you fall in love in trials in the first place are locked behind awful xp progression system. You are forced to spend hours of numbing grind doing boring tracks and annoying contracts just to unlock the only portion of the game you care about. 4/10

You now need to farm exp... in a Trials game. Furthermore there are microtransactions to tempt you and loot boxes. Thanks Ubisoft for ruining another franchise. Full Review »
