Nov 18, 2025Tormented Souls 2 refines the formula of its predecessor while keeping its essence intact. The sequel enhances practicality and flexibility in exploration, featuring more intuitive mechanics and smoother controls without losing the weight and tension of classic survival horror. Its puzzles are cleverly designed, combining logic and atmosphere to sustain a constant sense of unease. While the visuals remain modest, the lighting and sound design effectively build dread and immersion. By balancing tradition with subtle modernization, Tormented Souls 2 stands as a confident continuation that deepens the fear and reinforces the series’ identity.

Nov 4, 2025The new game from Chilean developers Dual Effect builds on everything that made the first installment so successful. With impeccable overall design and all the healthy vices of the genre, Tormented Souls 2 manages to sneak its way into the ranks of the best horror games of the year.

Oct 23, 2025Tormented Souls 2 is classic horror gaming to its core and feels like it could have been one of the better classic titles of the ’90s and early 2000s. While it pays homage to an old-school formula, it still stands on its own, being an excellent modern horror game with a fantastic story and characters, and one that feels familiar and new all at the same time. I highly recommend giving this game a playthrough this Halloween season, just so long as you can handle those tank controls.

Oct 23, 2025Tormented Souls 2 delivers a confidently crafted survival horror experience that leans into its classic inspirations while pushing the genre in creative directions. With stronger world design, improved pacing, and some of the most atmospheric puzzle sections in recent indie horror, it’s a must-play for fans of old-school tension and challenge. While the game occasionally frustrates with trial-and-error mechanics and limited interactivity, it still stands out as a passionate and memorable sequel.

Dec 3, 2025As a complete package, Tormented Souls 2 has a lot of things going for it. The atmosphere it creates is great, and the visuals are fit to the world’s unique ideas and challenges. That being said, the fact that they chose to go with limited saves does make the game feel more high stakes, but it can get frustrating at times because of it as well. It’s nice that you don’t have to play the first one to understand this game, and it’s definitely one of the better horror games made in the past few years. Yes, it doesn’t have the AAA flair and all the bells and whistles, but the self-contained story is very well-made, shared in a creative way, and the game itself doesn’t shy away from being very fun. It’s an easy recommendation for horror fans, but even if you never dabbled into the genre before, it’s a good starting point.

Nov 12, 2025Tormented Souls 2 is more of the same, but that's not a bad thing. Even though the encounter design can become frustrating at times, the game is packed with content, varied puzzles and a haunting atmosphere. It's a good time to be a survival horror fan.

Oct 28, 2025Tormented Souls II is the sequel the first installment deserved. Dual Effect listened to critics, polished what was wrong, and amplified what worked. The result is a survival horror game that respects the classic '90s titles without feeling anachronistic, offers a real challenge without constantly frustrating (well, almost), and looks spectacular on PC.
-
Oct 26, 2025Tormented Souls 2 excels in polished visuals, haunting atmosphere and classic survival horror mechanics.
-
Oct 23, 2025Tormented Souls 2 is a solid evolution of classic survival horror, and of the first game. It successfully refines the formula with genius puzzle design, creating a demanding and atmospheric experience that fans of the original Resident Evil and Silent Hill will cherish.

Oct 23, 2025Tormented Souls 2 is a love letter to the heyday of classic survival horror. It's not a game that attempts to reinvent the wheel. Instead, it takes a tried-and-true formula, understands its strengths down to the smallest detail, and refines them with the precision of a craftsman. The result is an experience that feels both nostalgic and modern. And it fits well with the current renaissance of horror games that are springing up in all shapes and sizes. My recommendation is therefore clear and specific: If you're looking for a modern action-horror game with fluid controls and cinematic staging, you might not be happy here. But if you miss the days of color ribbons, fixed camera angles, and slow, methodical exploration, Tormented Souls 2 is a definite recommendation. Dual Effect has not only created a worthy successor but also set a high standard for the neo-retro horror genre.

Oct 23, 2025Caroline Walker returns with her sister in a new adventure that far surpasses the first Tormented Souls. The Araneda brothers' survival horror expands in this sequel with a more ambitious approach that rivals the great classics of the genre. Beautifully and intelligently designed settings, powerful characters, and an immense number of deep puzzles are the keys to a quest that will take us through different locations in search of our sister. Two endings with the promise of a third "funny" ending in the future, many tense situations, and the need to use your head to make it to the credits are the foundations of a release that surprises with the care with which it has been created.

Nov 3, 2025Tormented Souls 2 is a pure, old-school survival horror, complete with all the classic strengths and weaknesses of the genre. It brings plenty of ideas that keep the player’s tension constantly high, but you need to be ready to endure its hardships without flinching: few save points, very limited resources, no checkpoints, stiff controls, and constant friction with a less-than-excellent game interface. In return, the experience feels authentic, one of those rare ones you can count on the fingers of one hand today. It’s not a game for everyone; it has a very specific and slightly masochistic audience that probably doesn’t even think about making things easier by playing on the lowest difficulty. For those who love this kind of game, Tormented Souls 2 is among the least compromising titles you can find.
-
Nov 3, 2025The game has a clear goal - like the first part, it wants to bring back an honest horror atmosphere to fans of older survival horrors. And it succeeds in that, although you will also experience frustrating combat and lengthy running around.
-
Oct 28, 2025Tormented Souls 2 faithfully follows the path laid out by its predecessor, continuing to pay tribute to old-school survival horror without ever succumbing to modern action influences. This second installment is made for true fans of the classics — for those who long to relive that nerve-wracking feeling of moving cautiously through the dark, counting every bullet, studying every map, and listening to every creak. As an authentic experience for the nostalgic, Tormented Souls 2 doesn’t aim to revolutionize the genre — nor does it pretend to. What makes it stand out is the confidence with which it embraces its own identity: a heartfelt homage to the masters of the past, crafted with skill and passion. Still, some of the first game’s issues (though somewhat improved) remain, along with a few of the genre’s age-old flaws.
-
Oct 23, 2025Tormented Souls 2 is a fun, albeit thematically predictable, sequel to a game that served as a delightfully nostalgic surprise to longtime horror fans. It's abundantly clear that Dual Effect has put their heart into this ongoing love letter to classic survival horror, utilizing elements that few other horror indies have dared to touch in favor of modern playstyles and concepts. Charmingly familiar tank control gameplay, ambitious puzzle mechanics that can still feel a bit too heavy-handed for the average player, and thematic horror elements that do work well for the most part. Like its predecessor, Tormented Souls 2 still struggles with storytelling and character elements that just don't quite hit the mark. While it doesn't go as deep as I would like, above all else, it still serves its grandest purpose with all the passion you could ask for.
-
Oct 31, 2025Tormented Souls 2 resurrects the souls of classic survival horror with its disturbing environments, deliberate pacing, and puzzles poised to punish impatience. It’s a chilling homage that sometimes stumbles over its old-school ambitions. But a commitment to dread and nostalgia should win over genre fans.
-
Dec 2, 2025Tormented Souls 2 builds on nostalgia for classic survival horror with tank controls. It succeeds in creating a strong atmosphere despite overwrought dialogue and poorly executed animations in the story cutscenes. It will primarily satisfy fans of B-movie horror, as well as those who once trembled through the early Resident Evil games. Some may even forgive the missteps in combat difficulty tuning, as high-quality puzzles and well-designed levels ultimately reward those who persevere.
-
Oct 23, 2025Tormented Souls 2 is a worthy successor to the original game, offering an improved experience for players. The sequel has significantly enhanced user-friendliness with its well-designed puzzles and intuitive hints. While the combat system and balance mechanics still present some challenges, players have the option to adjust the difficulty settings or wait for upcoming patches.
-
Oct 23, 2025Despite some nostalgic quirks that perhaps should have remained in the past, Tormented Souls 2 is an atmospheric callback to the iconic adventures that made contemporary horror gaming what it is.
-
Oct 23, 2025Whether Tormented Souls should be considered an old-school Resident Evil clone or not, Dual Effects has spared no expense to prove that Tormented Souls 2 deserves its own place in the retro-style survival horror genre. Improved in almost every thinkable aspect, Tormented Souls 2 supersedes its predecessor with flying colors. The only thing putting a damper on this feat is the sub-par combat mechanics and the poor enemy AI that make every combat encounter a tedious chore.
-
Oct 23, 2025If you have an itch for a fixed-camera horror and the patience for punitive controls, this is your game. If not, the Tormented Souls experience will feel less like a nostalgic embrace and more like a frustrating relic.
