    Obvious review bombing by banned cheaters.

    Expansion was a bit short, but like the direction they took with the game by removing gear score and adding the SHD level system.

    DIVISION 2's Warlords of NY Expansion is the mist extensive and impressive update yet to either game from Ubisoft Massive. It takes players back to NY CIty where the first game was set and lets players close the story-line that was started in the first Division while opening up a new chapter in the games over all story. Being that it is an expansion the map is much smaller then the core game but its packed with verticality and many secret/hidden areas.

    The WONY expansion takes what makes the sequel great and use it in the place where it all started. If you loved either the first Division, its sequel or both then you should check out the WONY expansion. The short but exciting campaign alone is easily worth the asking price. Ignore the reviews being critical of the games developers and or Ubisoft as they are focused on griefing Ubisoft and its Massive studio and not in providing any of you an honest review of the expansion.

    I'm addicted to this game. It's been a while since I played, but switching to PC from PS4 with the pre-expansion sale got me addicted again. Going back to New York is awesome, old characters making an appearance is cool. I can't get enough.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I was so bothered by all the negative reviews that I created a Metacritic account just to post an opposing review. My real score for this game is about 7.5 for the PvE game. I rarely if ever engage in PvP.

    I have no idea what all the hatred is in the user reviews. Maybe on day one or month one there were bugs and game issues. However I never buy games when the first come out because #1, they are ludicrously overpriced, and #2, they are typically full of bugs that get worked out in the first few months.

    Overall, WONY is a solid addition to the already very solid Div2. The story is OK, pretty much more of The Division lore and expected storytelling. Graphics are awesome and sound is top notch. Gameplay is pretty stellar as well and in line with Div2 as far as pretty intuitive and seamless use of weapons, skills, and movement.

    Solo campaign length is adequate and rewarding with the new level 40 cap and SHD levels after that. I have seen others complain about how this "breaks" old items and builds and to some extent I agree. I spent way too much time in Div2 collecting gear sets and weapons that are instantly rendered obsolete in WONY. I'm OK with that as I'm a solo PvE player and rarely play in the DZ. I do enjoy co-op and I can't see how the changes in WONY break that in any way.

    Since I bought this game on sale and primarily play PvE, I am very pleased with it. If you paid full price on day one and have a different play style, your mileage may vary.    … Expand

    Not regretting trying it, here's the lesson, never take negative reviews seriously on metacritic until you have tried certain game for yourself. You might miss out on many outstanding games that are hated for dumb reasons.

    Alot of people complaining about the difficulty because they cant smash higher tiers as soon as the campaign has ended. It's pretty simple, lower your world level and go work on the builds.

    Everything you need is there to make fantastic builds, calibration system/Stat system/UI/End Game Shade levels/Exotic perks and actual synergy for group play.
    New York looks fantastic. I bought the game for about 4 dollars and the DLC is also well worth it. Whether solo or with a group there is plenty of content including the new Seasons.    … Expand

    After having abandoned division 2 due to the incessant grind and tasteless degree of rng I find myself enjoying the simplicity of the new gear system. The story line and main missions are better than anything seen previously in the division franchise. The NY setting is incredible, e.g. the stranded tanker mission. Recommended if you enjoyed the original game.

Devs are constantly patching and tweaking the game, so i don´t understand the "devs don´t care" complaining when updates are regular. Not sure where all the hate is coming from. There are bugs, those are annoying, yet they generally have workarounds. Perhaps I have been fortunate to not run into them.     The game is beautiful, has great enviornments and gameplay, I've clocked 100hrs+ of enjoyable gameplay since the expansion was released, along with many others who are continuing to enjoy the game but are too busy doing that to come here to review bomb and cry.

    The game is definitely worth $30 or $40 for both the expansion + base game. The Base game is DEFINITELY worth $10.

    I just want to say hi to all the people that have brigaded this games reviews after the developer banned players that were logged into a game space in which a glitch was used that caused guns to do god-like damage. Not everyone that used the cheat/glitch was banned (for 7 days- progress reset to pre-patch state) and some got banned for just playing with those that did.

    This expansion is fine. The new area is packed with the same level of detail seem in the original division 2 and looks quiet good. The new sub bosses of the main narrative are fairly average. Honestly if you liked the division 2 and want more, then this is for you. Side note: The game was review bombed after there was an exploit in the game and those that exploited it recieved bans.     It was a satisfactory experience but a fun and enjoyable personal experience but I can see many other players having a hard time enjoying.

    The campaign is not too bad, it gave me a few hours of fun, but the end game is really bad, nothing new and, after you reach lvl 40, there are nothing to do on NY.

    The game does not have enough content.

    I’m going to be very honest with you. I’m a huge division fan and have been with the game since day one on and off. As a stand-alone story experience WONY does a great job, the story is cool but my favourite part is the map of New York it’s simply amazing. The new end game level system SHD levels (paragon levels from diablo) is amazing and makes it worthwhile to level in the end game. But my main problem with the game is the overall end game. First off they have not added any new end game activities, it’s the same old dark zone, repeat missions on harder difficulties and do CP-3-4’s. I mean that’s cool and all but a comet expansion like this should have at least included one new activity like survival, underground etc, 1.8 horde mode from division 1, idk man something new. Second of all they made everyone’s previews builds useless so u have to start from scratch, I’m ok with this if the new gear system is actually good but it’s not. We are back to underpowered builds where building full armour makes u do 0 dmg and get 3 hit by a elite enemy or u build full striker build dps and do decent amount of dmg but get 1 hit by anything. Whilst enemies are pure bullet sponges while u have a piece of paper as armour. Idk what massive did but they really messed up the pve balancing. It’s NOT FUN TO PLAY. Even with a fully min maxed builds u will NOT HAVE ANY FUN doing higher level content. Picture day 1 raid difficulty in any mission above hard in a group of 4. Now to conclude, will I still play this games uhh yes, will I have fun doing so umm not as much as vanilla division 2. Until massive can fix the horrible pve balancing issues where you are so underpowered compared to the enemies even on a min maxed build and add a new end game activity I cannot give this expansion a positive rating. It’s a one step forward two steps back kindove dlc. (New Story content lasts ~10 hrs)… Expand

    the ONE-SHOT NPCS is dragging the score down as well, the gear change sucks.. the gear always dropping as green/purple, and if high-end gear weapons drop, they are **** drops RNG sucks...in this expansion, even the main game is shot to **** or "One-Shotted" you could say...

    this needs fixed asap, npc scaling needs broght back down.. Especially 100% for SOLO players.. SOLO player are **** on the most by tese DEVS.. and they DONT EVEN GIVE **** about SOLO players.. not spendingmy $$$ on this **** anymore...

    - cool campaign
    - better crafting library

    CONS:
    - RNG is even worse than before, almost all exotic weapons are worthless

    - new bug such as gear set skills/player skills don't work, enemies spawning inside terrain, etc
    - the enemies are completely unbalanced, only specific gear combos can survive the insane damage
    - any gear that players find and use to bring the game back to balance is nerfed asap

    I've played Division 2 for over 300 hours before the DLC and I couldn't believe how badly they messed up this up. The game was actually pretty balanced before the DLC other than loot RNG.
    The amount of bugs/glitches which are now present in the game shows how little this DLC was tested before release.

    For example on day 1 of release there was a bug where you couldn't talk to safe house and control point NPC that progressed the story. That's right, players had to wait till the next day for emergency patch and even after the patch the control point NPCs didn't always work.
    How the f*ck does that get missed before the release. Did the devs actually play the campaign from start to finish before release?    … Expand

    Do i think rollback was necessary? - totally not as most of the stuff that people got was legit and the staff people got through glitch was still crap rolled and a lot off people will leave because of rollback but not because of 7 days ban

    Do i like the game core gameplay? - yes / sort of (see next point)

    Do i think the game is balanced well? - definitely no. the balance was killed in the last patch literally the only viable build was (and still is) m1a, and it is not because this gun is op it is because it is the only gun that can do damage and not get you killed on difficulty higher than "hard" i tried a lot of other bilds like smg (can do damage but cant keep you alive as you need to stay out of cover for more than 0,5-1,5 seconds), shotguns (similar to smg but the problem that it damages less than m1a and puts you closer to enemies witch ends up with you dead next to enemies and your team cant res you), AR (just a cheap copy of smg with more range and accuracy witch doesnt change much really at this point) lmg (sort of ok but more like a side arm to m1a). Fire damage - holy poop! it makes you feel like your character is made not just from paper but like from some highly inflammable material. Now to damage even in the tank build with no stats invested in damage, even on challenging difficulty red health bar mobs should survive a full 100-150 mag of lmg into head... it is literally impossible in any fantasy/MMO/shooter or whatever and proves how bullet sponge the game has become.

    Do i think this game is bug free or almost no bugs were it is at playable state? - no. no. and again no. cant put a full list with explanation because 5000 characters limit but her is a shot list: skill bugs, invisible fire, damage through cover, marksman accuracy when mobs blind fire, mob spawn all at once from one point, invisible walls where they are not supposed to be, and the list goes on. The only bug/glitch that made this game fun after the tu8 was the freaking damage glitch....

    Do i like the story? - well it is a hard one, it is ok i guess, the main story is totally ok, with some good moments that i still like when i replay some missions, the warlords of new your part is very flat it doesn't bring much emotions especially if to take into account the fact that i did it when it was full of bugs like not being able to talk to npc for quest some doors not being opened etc. Even the "big cliffhanger" with [spoiler] going rouge was predictable from the moment the character appeared on screen.

    Do i like the loot? - not really. And that is actually a bad answer for looter shooter game... the game screwed me over with exotic loot for whole my play time until the damage glitch, loot glitch and other stuff surfaced, the first exotic gun that dropped for me from npc was the gun i already had from a friend and it was like 250-270 hours in game... i even surprised i had played that long with that king of drop. Challenging vs heroic drop does not differ that much damn the only difference between hard and challenging is that you get purple items some times but rolls suck the same amount. Loot from chests is joke i guess as i noticed that not only me but other players just run past them as youll get purple from them 95% chance.

    Is it all that bad or i liked something in tu8? - the only thing i may come up with is recalibration changes thing and the fact that we can see how crap the item is and not spend 30+ minutes comparing it to other similar items in order to decide if we want to save one stat or just sell it. also i liked the long needed storage upgrade from 100 to 300. but i still do not get why we cant sort mods by their stats in order to sell those that are worse than new.

    If i was to give this update a raiting i would give it a 4/10 maybe even 5/10 giving developers the credit for fixing some stuff with npc and story progression at launch BUT taking into account resent events with glitches, bugs, bans, lack of fixes and how they handled this situation overall i cant give it more that 3/10.

    Because of the rollback my friend is done with the game and because of that so am i, as i have some other games that i may play alone and it was sort of a coop option for both of us. And suffering through this unbalanced **** of a game it is right now alone, is not the thing i want to waste my free time on.    … Expand

    The Division 2 was a failure and Ubi's complete lack of understanding of what the players enjoyed and wanted from the first game. This DLC is nothing more than an attempt to tickle some nostalgic feelings except they imported the same nonsense that made this terrible to begin with.

    So I write this review after hitting level 50 SHD (watch level beyond level 40). At the current state, this game is terrible. It basically a farewell to all solo players. At difficulties which actually drop gear that is decent, you need to have a party. While getting a party is reasonably easy, it's randoms. Randoms that are sometimes good, usually not. Randoms that are sometimes good, usually not. So far in my experience most randoms just follow around, vacuum loot, and absorb xp, rarely actually helping. The difficulty scale is just terrible. It is not uncommon on challenging, or even hard difficulty to get 1 shot by enemies that deal between 1-4 million damage. There is no functioning meta yet, there was no test realm to balance this before release. Now, in 3 or 4 months after some extensive patching, this will likely change.
    Now for the money grubbing part that Ubi seems to require in all their games now. The expansion locks all players who do not own it behind a paywall, so hopefully your friends will pony up, otherwise there is no reason for them to return. On top of that, they have gone to a destiny 2 style season system, except the seasons cost money. So ever 12 weeks or so, they will be asking you to pony up another $20-30 to gain access to... something. It is has not really been made clear yet what. Also to note, this expansion has not yet added a Raid, it does not allow you to upgrade your old exotics (so may as well just throw them away despite the months of farming it took to get them). All in all, I am very sad to see Ubi working hard to destory a game that had so much promise.    … Expand

    2. The Ubisoft support is worthless, they can't help with anything but the simplest things. If you try to report a cheater with video evidence i might add, the thread gets ignored. But if someone asks for help in buying some cosmetics, the Forum mods will be replying withing seconds!

    3. Cheats and Hacks: There are plenty of genuine hacks and cheaters in the game, especially in the PVP Dark Zone. Nothing is done to address these.

    Community Management:
    1. Massive doesn't even know the basics of community management. They NEVER listen to the player base and are always looking for lazy ways to resolve problems.

    2. They never accept their mistakes and choose to blame the players for the shortcomings of their games. A recent example is the blanket ban of thousands of players over a glitch which the developers put in the game themselves.

    3. Inconsistent and lazy punishment system: Massive simply banned random players for using the "glitch". The banned people who didn't do it, the banned people who had not logged into the game in weeks, they even banned people who got the game merely 4 days before the ban was implemented!

    4. They LIE to their community. On the weekly state of the game update the developers lied to the very faces of their player base by saying that they looked at individual player accounts prior to banning. This was immediately proven to be a lie due to the fact that so many players who were innocent also got banned. what is even more shocking is that MANY players who used the exploit DIDN'T get banned - which is a testament to the incompetence of these developers. Another instance of their lies is that they publicly stated that any ban can be disputed by contacting Ubisoft support. So far not one player has been given a proper response by Ubisoft support. They claim that they cannot do anything to help with the bans.

    5. Toxic Community. The community is highly toxic. The forums are full of toxic players looking to pick on or bully players seeking for answers or clarification. Innocent players who were banned for nothing were questioning what happened on the forums only to be ridiculed and insulted by a self-righteous bullies who frequent the forums doing nothing but defend the Developers from ANY form of criticism.

    6. There are Youtube content creators who used Glitches and XP exploits multiple times yet they have NOT been banned. Not even a warning has been issued to them which is a clear indicator of the double standards the developers have when it comes to their community.

    7. Do not care about their community. The developers banned thousands of players for 7 days during an global pandemic quarantine - when all people could do was play their favorite game. On top of that they rolled back all the banned accounts for 14 days, thereby taking away ALL loot and achievements obtained through much grinding and hard work. This spiteful act was not only a show of immeasurable laziness but also force to scare the community into submission.

    This is the truth of the Division community. Once a place of tolerance, acceptance and maturity, it is now a cesspool of toxic blind devotion to the devs where anyone who dares to question the actions of the developers in instantly expunged with insults and degrading comments.

    There are plenty who will sit and praise this game saying that the devs are little angels and community managers are saints. Don't be fooled. if you look around on reddit and Youtube you will see plenty of posts showing the true colors of Massive and Ubisoft.

    Do not support Arrogant developers like Massive. They are selfish and uncaring and could take a lesson in community management from Bungie the creators of Destiny 2. If you are looking for a worthwhile game to play during quarantine I have no issues in recommending Destiny 2. It has 100 times more content and a developer that cares and loves their community! Stay clear from The Division 2 and Massive Entertainment spend your money elsewhere.    … Expand

Yet they can one shot you, progression became incredibly difficult, builds meant nothing, there didn't seem to be a build that could satisfactorily overcome the overpowered bullet sponges. Then the most controversial issue, a game glitch saw people have access to increased damage, all of a sudden the community could kill the enemy. The response from the developers was disproportionate, considering the glitch was actually their doing. A lot of players are leaving the game post this. What is so disappointing is they have an amazing product, that is poorly managed. All i would say is buyer beware.… Expand

    Even after 1 month the game is still full of bugs and exploits. Never buy anything from ubisfot untill they patch it (1-2 years after release).

    Bugs and issues are more or less ignored while weapons and armor are needlessly nerfed. Enemies are just bullet sponges who can shred your million armor build in 2 shots while your exotic cant even do a damn thing to a guy in jeans and a tank top. I can live with that but when you do a ledgendary mission and get to the end and 1 enemy is stuck behind a spawn door causing you to have to kill yourself and start over something is wrong. My favorite issue though had to be the revive hive. When you get downed its suppose to get you back up but 25% of the time it does nothing. And this issue has been going on for over a year.

    I tried to enjoy it but after recent events of a developer obviously being out of touch I have gaveup. This game isnt fun no more but more of a job. Shame for it has/had potential. With obvious favoritism towards certain creaters (streamers/youtubers) and the vast majority of the player base ignored this game will be dead within weeks I fear, both from players leaving, or being banned for something tiny and dumb.    … Expand

    Wony story was just ok....ending was a massive disappointment! The bugs in story were not game breaking but noticable.....endgame lvl 40 thow just broke...bugs upon bugs,Loot is just all trash,exotic drops feel like less than powerful than yellow counterparts! All in all very bas experiance!

    Bad story, bad gameplay, bad balance. Game is really designed very bad. Changed item level into something new but more worse than before. They are not understanding what should be an RPG mechanic.

    The Warlords of New York expansion not only added plenty of enjoyable content to The Division 2, but also sets up the foundations for all updates to follow. Anyone looking for more third person, loot and shoot gameplay will find plenty to enjoy here, with players new and old able to jump in and explore Lower Manhattan.

    Warlords of New York is a welcome addition to The Division 2 and it probably marks the most fun I’ve had with the series to date. While some content falls a little flat, each one of the special encounters is a manic and explosive experience that will bring you to the edge of your seat. The quality of life changes, including the refined loot systems, also breathe life back into one of last year’s more enjoyable looter-shooter titles.
