PC FormatThe stealth adventure genre doesn't get any better than this. [Christmas 2006, p.95]
-
I found the story more fleshed out since certain story elements that are glossed over in the X360 version are given more gravity and importance.
-
A major leap forward for the series and, at least in my opinion, gets better and better the more I play it.
-
Computer Games MagazineUbisoft just executes the hell out of Splinter Cell, and in the end it makes its familiarity one of its strengths: The sight of Sam Fisher is always a welcome one. [Feb. 2007, p.64]
-
Double Agent comes close to earning a Classic award, let down only by the fact that we wanted to see them run a bit further with the trust system idea.
-
PC Gamer UKA smooth operator. [Christmas 2006, p.86]
-
It provides plenty of glorious visuals, the audio is top-notch and the missions are pretty damn fun.
-
Fans will love it, and newcomers will quickly go and buy the previous installments in the series.
-
Newcomers to the series can feel comfortable starting with Double Agent, knowing that they're playing a game that's every bit as good as the first three, in spite of a few bugs along the way.
-
We loved both the single and multiplayer versions of Splinter Cell Double Agent, so we have no issue recommending it to any PC owner looking for some stealthy action. We had to give it a lower score than the 360 version because of some technical bitchery.
-
Agent Sam Fisher's latest assignment turns out to be a fairly routine stealth action operation, but changes to Splinter Cell's innovative multiplayer mode help make up for this.
-
A good game. It will likely be a very good game after a couple of patches (it is damn buggy on the PC and slow as hell), so I'd advise you to wait a while before you actually buy it.
-
Splinter Cell: Double Agent offers more of the third-person stealth action we've come to expect from the Splinter Cell franchise, and it adds a unique, fast-paced multiplayer format unlike any online game I have played before.
-
Splinter Cell: Double Agent could have been a wonderful product if tested properly and adapted from the console version by adding a useful PC interface.
-
PC GamerA tightly written story with multiple endings and difficult choices would make this the best "Splinter Cell" game to date...if it had been released in a finished state. [Feb. 2007, p.62]
-
If you want to play the newest Splinter Cell game, please, find another platform to play it on. Your mileage may vary, but this game just doesn't seem to work all that well. Only buy this if the multiplayer is your main reason, or possibly only reason for playing.
-
I've been reviewing PC games since 1999 and playing them since the late 1980s, and this is the first time I've had to jump through this many hoops to get a single game going.
