Vegas 2 may look a little bit better than some Eurojank titles, but it definitely feels like one.

Vegas 2 didn’t really add a ton to the experience that Vegas brought but it also didn’t make things worse. It still had the same core experience which, given that I enjoyed that, meant I had a lot of fun with the sequel. A lot of what was added was cosmetic. You can now customize your character’s armour; clothing; gender; and face alongside your weapons. It still had the same core experience which, given that I enjoyed that, meant I had a lot of fun with the sequel. A lot of what was added was cosmetic. You can now customize your character’s armour; clothing; gender; and face alongside your weapons. I didn’t really care about any of this but I’m sure someone may have so it’s not a bad thing to add. Sadly some of the issues I had with Vegas were still there like poor team AI and the game defaulting your fire rate to auto when reloading a save. I also wasn’t a huge fan of the last battle because it was you going up against a helicopter; and waves of enemies without any help from your team for no reason. Your character literally tells them to stand back so he can go solo even though the game is a team based game. I may rag on the AI but I at least like to use them to draw fire from me and as bait. Also without giving any spoilers I will say that there really should have been at least an additional cut scene between the second last level and the last one as I have a lot of questions about the story such as what the enemies were doing there and where your team came from. This may seem all negative but it really isn’t meant to be. The game still has very good shooting and sound effects. It also does a good job of exploring side stories of what was happening before and during your game play in Vegas. The graphics are pretty much the exact same as in Vegas even though improvements could have been made.

I played Vegas 2 on Linux using Proton. It never crashed. It did have some issues but I’m unsure if it was with the game or with Proton. Basically when the game first launches the intro logos and screens were all really tiny and in the top left hand corner of the screen. This wasn’t a resolution issue as when I set the resolution to 1080P it still happened. There was also an issue where the game when launched wouldn’t be given priority and I would have to manually click the game in the taskbar to make it take priority and span my screen. There were also some times where it never got to the main screen. There wasn’t any errors or crashes, just nothing. Ironically this happened when the game didn’t start minimized. If it started minimized like I mentioned earlier I knew it would get to the main screen fine. Once the game could actually be played I noticed no bugs or glitches. Again, I’m uncertain if these issues had to do with Proton or if Windows users experienced them as well. The game had four AA settings; a v-sync toggle; and four other graphics options. The game auto saved at checkpoints. Most of the time whey were decently spaced but a manual save system would have been preferred. Alt-Tab worked. You can’t change the difficulty mid mission but you can change it if you choose to load the scene from the beginning which means you may lose some progress depending where in the scene you are. Being able to change on the fly would have been a better option. The game ran great with much of the time it running at 144 FPS or close to it. Even when there were drops it was still well over 100 FPS.

If you enjoyed Rainbow Six Vegas then you’ll probably enjoy Vegas 2. It has a lot of the same positives even if it still has a few of the negatives as well. The story is overall good and adds to the overall Vegas story arc even if it could have been a bit tighter near the end. I paid $2.81 CAD for Vegas 2 on Steam and paid $49.99 CAD for it when it came out at launch. In any case it is easily worth it’s current price tag of 9.99 CAD. I finished the story mode in six hours and thirty one minutes on normal difficulty.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is a huge mixed bag for me. On the one hand, you have fantastic customization options and gameplay mechanics and incredibly solid, precise, and satisfying aiming, but on the other hand you have downright ugly graphics (even for it's time, this game looks like it's from 2005), the ability for PLAYERS to be HEADSHOTTED in SINGLE-PLAYER (making a lot of encounters simple random chance on whether enemy AI lands a headshot), and no player revives - you get downed, you're dead. As a tactical shooter, the only tactic I've ever needed to use was sending my otherwise useless AI teammates into rooms to soak up enemy fire with their huge, reviveable health pool while we all pick enemies off. Now, if the whole campaign allowed for this, I might add a point onto this review, but towards the end you get separated from your teammates and have to go through huge complexes crawling with enemies ready to instakill you and send you back to that checkpoint you got 10 minutes ago.

In the end, this game has just enough pros to balance out its cons, making it a very frustrating but fun enough experience. Play this with friends if you can, but expect heavy rubberbanding all over the place if you have any lag at all. At least the respawning makes it somewhat bearable.

I enjoyed Lockdown and realize that it is really nothing but popcorn. You can take the storyline seriously if you want, but to win, at a bare minimum all you need do is move and shoot. While the graphics are no doubt better, I didn't note an ability to save the game anywhere you want as was possible in Lockdown - meaning you have to replay long tracts of the game after being killed. Even on the easiest level, enemies spawn quickly, sliding down ropes from the ceiling (they sure have a lot of prepared ropes, come to think of it). And while hardly a prude, I didn't find the use of the F-word did anything to make this more realistic - just really a new layer of awfulness. Tedious, coarse and in the end, not really fun at all. A very good game, not as tactical like the old R6 games, but that doesn't bother me, because the game itself has so many stuff in it.
Like the weapons you can use, every weapon has a first person view and the weapon amount is not low.
Also you can use many armors and the coop is wonderful. The A.i. is very difficult if you play on hard also i like the maps. Great game! Looking forward

It's sad to have seen this series become jealous of Call of Duty. The controls are obviously trying to mimic CoD. Stealth is out of the option since enemies appear when you pass certain points, and can see you through walls. And you rifles are more accurate is you do not aim. Seriously, step away from a wall, and fire from the hip, check your spread. Now do it while aiming. Sad.It's sad to have seen this series become jealous of Call of Duty. This game hits rock bottom when you realize that there is only one mission that is recognizable as Las Vegas. The rest are Generic House, Generic Building, Comcast Advertisment, etc. I had to pause and look up who the final boss was, because I had had a WTF moment when I got to the end. Expand

Completed the game on the hardest difficulty (barley).
It was very frustrating having enemies (no spawn right in front of me sometimes and performing a one-hit kill on me causing me to restart about 5 minutes back and having me sit through unskippable cutscenes again.
Overall I probably would not play this game again ever, buyer beware, this game my ruin you mentally.

A good shooter, but multiplayer doesnt work, I cant get too close to any enemies without being instantly headshotted and dying instantly. There were some frustrating moments, such as the refinery. Your AI teammates are gone, and its basically shoot someone and hope nobody notices and rushes you to headshot you. The last area/level was frustrating because of the helicopter assaulting you.

This game had purely amazing potential, but fell short due to some horrible bugs in the multiplayer (endless soundloop, for example.)

I would still be firing this game up to play some multiplayer now and then if it weren't for all the game-destroying problems it had. The guns sound great, the gunplay is wonderful, graphics are good story isn't super compelling, but isn't terrible. It's

I had great fun playing this game! It's a nice terrorist-elimination game. People complain about the ai... well sure they can kill you if you are not smart and put them in the wrong place. After all, you tell them where to go... And for a co-op, it's just fantastic :) Good work Ubisoft :)

This games is actually pretty good, but it's a short fun. I played it for 2 hours and the singleplayer was finished, well, at least there is a multiplayer so I can still play this game. Well, is it normal that I crash often?

The single player is completely throwaway and only serves to introduce you to the gameplay in preparation for the multiplayer. There's tons of customization options and its great fun to change your loadout, camo and armor between matches with friends. Feels clunky & arcadey and not reminiscent of actual Rainbow Six games.

A real tactical, modern, armed conflict experience, brought in the perspective of a special force team. I liked the military ranks which keeps you playing, the custom made character and the felling of taking responsibility for a tactical special force team.

This Vegas 2 is more or less the same as Vegas 1 with improved graphics (not so much btw).
Tbh it seems a bit a map pack more then a new game, prolly with this release the focus was all on multiplayer, as single player its quite flat corridor action based and really nothing more then first Vegas.
Still ultra scripted so there is zero replayability, and the tactical approach is present only

Still ultra scripted so there is zero replayability, and the tactical approach is present only when opening a door.
Cover system is still the same, not bad tbh, but in this release it seems to work a bit worse then in Vegas 1 prolly due to the fact there are more irregular objects around which can create some issues when trying to cover behind.
The main problem in my opinion is that devs wanted to do something for the mass, looking as COD serie as inspiration, so they decided to cut out most of the tactical approach which was the core of the first games in serie, but sadly this title cant stand any chance compared to BF or COD serie in multi, and lost his fans as tactical shooter, so actually it has really not a specific place on the market imo.
For a next time will be better to decide what kind of player please with the title, as this one fails a bit in every direction.
Giving a 6 cause the game is not bad at all, especially now its easy to find it at super low prices, just its Vegas 1 with enhanced multiplayer support.

What to think about it? If you're a fan of Vegas, you will probably buy it anyway, just to enjoy new missions and new storyline. If you're a classical R6 fan, wishing the series would come back to it's hardcore tactical roots... It's not happening folks. For the newcomers - Rainbow Six: Vegas is a new take on R6 series. It's more approachable, less tactical. In general, it's an action game with a bit of teamwork and strategy. You control special ops team-leader and you squad consists of other two members. It's and FPS game with cover system and very basic giving orders mechanics. It's quick, enjoyable and very replayable game. After you finish campaign (not more than 6h of gameplay) you can fight in multiplayer, co-op or my favorite - terrorist hunt mode.
