An arcade shooter. Gone is the intelligent suspenseful tactical approach. There are few tense moments and it's like a glorified shooting gallery, even on the hardest setting. Its so sad that it seems that R6Ravenshield will be the best game of the series. When I played the story mode through, I felt cheated because some of the maps were just taken from the older sixes, and just modded a little bit to look like different (well, in some cases not the whole map, but at least parts of it, OR the map was built of those stolen pieces taken from here and there). Walking into empty room and see how tangos appear from thin air and kill you... My money is stolen and I feel like I´m *ss raped. As a long term fan of the series I'm really sorry to say this but this game is pure bullsh*t. R.I.P R6 series. :( Expand

urther gameplay has prompted me to update my review. The game is simply broken to the point that it heavily interferes with gameplay. When you add a cover system to a game like this its always good to make sure it WORKS. At least every map I've played I've come across a wall that either gave my screen a seizure when I leaned on it or prevented me from moving in some way. Did my ai teammate just kill me with friendly fire? Really, the ai that's more piss poor than l4d abd halo combined just friendly fired me?! I payed 10 dollars for this game it's worth about that, but for a full price I have to laugh at Ubisoft for even trying to peddle this crap. Still very entertaining if you can play T hunt with people Expand

Great mix of challenge and fun; Pros: Controls, Bot intelligence, Bot command system as previous titles; Cons: Unplayable MP pings in Brazil and that is unforgivable nowadays. Too bad since I bought it for online matches. So the very low rate deserved!

Still upset about the "To Be Continued" from the first I thought that the sequel would bring peace and more action. I was more then disgusted with it's graphics. Voice actiing severly decreased, and game play decreased. Graphics seem like they went down instead of up, very clearly on max settings and having the Desert Eagle out, it looked like something from an F.P.S. for the Atari! I was bord with it after two hours and it still (and probably will) remain(s) unfinished. 3 for theme. Expand

The terrorist hunt is a massive dissapointment after the heights of Raven Shield. A.I. is more agressive which is very welcome, but the fact that the enemies spawn as you play instead of all at the start of a round makes the terrorist hunt a simple exercise in exploiting spawnpoint mechanics instead of a true 'hunt' like in the earlier games. Silent and stealth play also makes no difference to the enemies' perception of where you are, a major flaw. Overall it's not too bad, and at least the firefights are exciting, but it's sad that Ubi have chosen to discard the hardcore tactical play which made the earlier games in the series (Raven Shield and prior) such a joy, and turned this one into a simple run-and-gun. Terrible game, awkward graphics, cheap animations and so on. Its like they took the first Vegas and then just tried to make the worst game possible with what they had.

Did the people who made this game ever play another FPS before they made it? The team commands get in the way of actually playing. You get hung up and objects and team mates constantly. Hit detection is poor at best.

The most embarrassingly broken game I've ever come across. The buggy brokenness is inescapable and omnipresent. Virtually nothing in this game works properly.

Graphics are exactly the same as the original (if not worse). Multiplayer is completely broken, due to the extremely lousy server browser, which is more than uselss. The first game was great, but had the exact same multiplayer flaw: the difficulty of finding proper games. The "Sort by ping" feature doesn't exist and only of a fraction of the servers actually get a ping return.

I enjoyed Lockdown and realize that it is really nothing but popcorn. You can take the storyline seriously if you want, but to win, at a bare minimum all you need do is move and shoot. This one, though, seems far more tedious. While the graphics are no doubt better, I didn't note an ability to save the game anywhere you want as was possible in Lockdown - meaning you have to replay long tracts of the game after being killed. Even on the easiest level, enemies spawn quickly, sliding down ropes from the ceiling (they sure have a lot of prepared ropes, come to think of it). And while hardly a prude, I didn't find the use of the F-word did anything to make this more realistic - just really a new layer of awfulness. Tedious, coarse and in the end, not really fun at all. It's sad to have seen this series become jealous of Call of Duty. The controls are obviously trying to mimic CoD. Stealth is out of the option since enemies appear when you pass certain points, and can see you through walls. And you rifles are more accurate is you do not aim. Seriously, step away from a wall, and fire from the hip, check your spread. Now do it while aiming. Sad.It's sad to have seen this series become jealous of Call of Duty. This game hits rock bottom when you realize that there is only one mission that is recognizable as Las Vegas. The rest are Generic House, Generic Building, Comcast Advertisment, etc. I had to pause and look up who the final boss was, because I had had a WTF moment when I got to the end. Expand

  1. Hopefully Ubi shakes things up for a third instalment however, because the current trend is going to result in something downright style and mediocre for Vegas 3.

Fun with friends, but folds like a nervous poker player in single play. Genuine chances need to be taken for the threequel to succeed. [May 2008, p.102]
  3. Rainbow Six Vegas 2 isn't terribly exciting when played alone, but it is solid when you go online.
