To The Rescue! isn’t without its flaws, but like a cute yet shy dog tucked away in a shelter kennel’s corner, it’s still worthy of any dog lover’s attention. It may have had a rocky start to life, but the developers have been hard at work tackling bugs and fixing issues, so it’s safe to say that any perceived problems will soon be a thing of the past. If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and find fur-ever homes for pixelated pups, To The Rescue! just might be the most doggone fun dog shelter simulator out there.

To The Rescue! is an adorable and heartfelt management game, that unfortunately loses its way after the first few hours.

As of version 1.0.7 of the game, there’s a number of mildly frustrating bugs and issues which take the shine off of To The Rescue! Hopefully, Little Rock Games has the opportunity to patch these as beneath its hiccups, it feels like there’s a good game here. The concept is cute and original, the art style is clean and the game play loop can be quite moreish, so long as you can push though its core annoyances.

To The Rescue! delivers a meaningful message about animal welfare in a family-friendly package. An inoffensive tycoon game full of cute dogs and happy moments makes running a dog shelter a cheerful task. Yet, that task becomes painstakingly frustrating with a poor interface, micromanaging dozens of pups with a limited inventory and clumsy controls. It doesn’t help that there are many, many glitches and game-breaking bugs. Little Rock Games might be biting off more than they can chew with To The Rescue!.

To the Rescue is a lovely idea with plenty of charm. Unfortunately, a litany of bugs and weak progression leaves the whole thing a little worse for wear. Although that adorable smile and gorgeous coat may draw you in, this old dog could have done with learning a few new tricks.

I often play these styles and the fact that profits from the game are going to real life charities is great. There's a few bugs that the devs are working on but the game is in early days. I enjoy the concept too and the open-ness. Full Review »

Played post release versions (1.0.19, 1.0.23, 1.0.26) and as of today the game is still plagued by way too many bugs. That aside the game is also very short, took me 3 hours total to complete the entire story mode, which felt more like a tutorial. Gameplay loop gets stale afterwards because nothing new happens. By the time I finished I never even needed to expand and was still using standard kennels. Overall pretty meh. Full Review »
