    - Really like the classes

I wrote this at about halfway through and stopped playing, I still feel the criticisms are valid so will leave it in.

Review for first half of the game: I thought Borderlands 3 was bad but playing this surprised me, it's so bad I can't bring myself to even finish it

Characters and story are unfunny, boring and annoying
Quests are really boring, having to wait for long dialogue you can't skip all the time
Spells are a big disappointment, not nearly enough types and most of them feel the same
Same goes for the guns, this is the first borderlands game where there isn't really any guns I like. Feels like there's a lot less variety with weapons

However, the classes are pretty cool and you can have two at once and the overland is kinda nice I guess

    The good :
    - gameplay.
    - mix of fantasy and FPS. The bad : - bad optimization : graphics are not awesome whereas a high-end GPU is required for a good experience. The awful : - "woke" propaganda is all over : - for the character creation, no male or female gender

This is not a Borderlands game.

It has less content, fewer weapons with slower EVERYTHING (reload/fire-rate/ballistics/ADS/etc), more linear gameplay (oh goody, another micro-area to shoot the same 12 baddies), and the "magic" component is just fewer grenades - but now with a timer

The voice acting is good, so much better than Borderlands 3, but that's it. Samberg, Sykes, and Arnett are all it has going for it (fwiw, anyone complaining about the "politics" is just overly sensitive)

It is the opposite of BL3; instead of great game with awful characters it's a very dull game with decent characters.

Also, this was my first purchase on Epic (I usually wait for Steam - but am a diehard BL fan) and it made the bad experience exponentially worse.

Decent art direction and voice work are all that keep this from a 1/10

While the gameplay is still fun and chaotic, the game itself is becoming super polítical, from the character creator you realized something's off, then you meet the paladin and it gets worse from there, the game is a political activist's wet dream, and is very annoying.

Just doing the same thing over and over and over and not really much fun. I enjoyed the OVERWORLD which is like a little board game, but it is difficult getting around from place to place. Again.... Really overly complicated. Everything is overly complicated. I dont find any interesting gear. Even the Legendaries are boring and often not worth equipping over a Purple. I have over 100 hours in the game, and I've played every Borderlands game extensively. This had so much potential, but feels like I wasted my money. Disappointing after reading fairly positive reviews, for two main reasons. Firstly, this is probably the most woke game I've ever played, with the inclusion of pronoun choices (including they/them which we all know is nonsense), and a male character being voiced by a female. The second reason I was disappointed was the gameplay. I feel the FPS genre has moved forward with faster and more challenging games, with the best being Doom Eternal. If you also loved DE, you'll probably find this far too easy (even on 'intense', which changes nothing apart from damage given and received) and boring, and I'd recommend avoiding it completely. If you like an easier game, and don't mind the gameplay loop being very repetitive against the same types of enemies, it might be worth giving it a try.

I had fun playing it one time but i really don't have the feeling like in borderlands 3 where I played every Character to the Max.

There aren't enough Legendaryies and even worse there aren't so many good Legendaries so everyone just uses purple stuff.

And it's pretty unbalanced, Pixies are just destroying everything and other classes just don't have the same potential as the spellshot class.

Also it's much shorter than borderlands 3, I think if I try hard enough i could finish the game in under 10 hours for sure. You have too grind between missions but not much which is good but it's really short.

The bosses don't really have such an amazing design and attack which isn't bad but a slight inconvinience, some bosses you can't even replay so you can only do him once per story run and that's just ****

The Chaos Chamber. Well at first I fought it would be better than the Slaughter Shafts in Borderlands 3 but It's really the same after a while.

You have some different maps between stages, different enemys, maybe even small boss fight or some small secret events you have to do to fight a secret boss at the end.

At first you think well that's so much better than the Slaughter Shaft but after 20 to 30 runs it's just lame.

Yes you have secret boss fight, Yes you can choose your loot at the end, Yes you can get better loot if you choose the right gems.

But eventually you beat the bosses all atleast once.
But the secret bosses don't change, and they are just a living sponge with small raid mechanics, in wich you can kill them but without they just have too much health.
But even though you can choose your loot, me and all of my friends somehow never get the loot we need and if you really want to get more loot or a higher chance to get loot you have to go throuh every map in the game and collect all dice to get more luck.

The humor is also really bad in this one.
I Personally think it's a downgrade too the earlier Borderlands games.

NO one stop yapping and then devs wonder why from soft "Zazinbart forgive me" approach is way more well received.!

The fact that the meme came from a writer for borderlands, tweeting about souls games lore, makes it even more incredible since this dumb "writer" (for a medium that is oversaturated with **** writing) whose only credit is a series that has notoriously awful writing, lashes out in jealous misdirected anger at minimal writing in a good game that has a passionate fanbase.

Even funnier when you realize his twitter fit isn't the first time he's taken potshots at FromSoft. In fact, there's an entire mission in Borderlands 3 where they desperately try to dunk on the souls series: its called Demon_in_the_Dark and it features such gems as

    >"Eridium... I had hoped it to be an offering to Alkonost and Azamak-mur, but both are lost. What sorrow, what sorrow. All that's left to me now is seek out the fabled city of Iktok-gofeldor-maruun. Surely you've heard of it? No? What sorrow!"

Reviewers never play a game more than once (if at all) and they're jaded from playing hundreds of videogames as part of their job (and yet somehow never learned to be good at them).

Dealt with the odd glitches here and there, but I take it with a grain of salt as a lot of the development was done from home. I think the Wonderlands was a neat concept as a whole and I hope to see them continue with the IP, just hope they could adjust pricing or add more content to compensate for the quick main story! I purchased this game because it’s one of very few games that still offers spilt screen. While that works good. The gameplay is lackluster. Loot drops are almost nonexistent. Plus the going woke **** It’ll be the last borderlands game I buy and last purchase from this company.

I would wait until this can be bought in a bundle with all the dlc on a sale. It's worth a casual play through at the stated conditions above. Otherwise I'd hang on to your money. Otherwise I'd hang on to your money. Game needed more testing before release, VERY buggy. Not to mention needed and still needs more balancing. Weapons felt one note. You either rocked pistol or pistol. Everything else just felt weak by comparison, even some legendary guns. Spells were visually fun, but those also failed to feel diverse with only a few types feeling worth while. Classes also either felt over powered or weak in comparison to one another. This could be helped by the DLC, but a game should feel good to play all around fresh out of the box so to speak.

Speaking of DLC, something was missing in this after beating it. More content or characters or story. Something. Upon beating it, rather than feeling like I wanted more, I felt like it was lacking. it NEEDED more. Whatever it is might be there, just chopped out of the main game and put into the season pass. Either way, base game took a hit for it.

Story was ok, better than BL3, but that isn't saying much in my opinion. It's still no Borderlands 2. Voice acting was ok for the most part. Will Arnett did a great job and I did enjoy his character. Humor was ok. Expect some inner chuckles, but nothing laugh out loud great save for a couple moments. Visuals are good if you like the style (I do). Sound was also good. Character customization felt limited. A lot of what i found were just simple texture or color swaps. Nothing major like spike armor or fairy wings etc. There could be more I am missing, but I have no urge to farm for it past beating the game the one time sadly.

I'm torn on Chaos mode. It has potential, but for the time being its just a room where you can trigger random overworld encounters, but with modifiers to make them harder for a chance at more loot. No bosses in them either as far as I could tell. I usually only like that stuff when a game is built around it from the ground up (an actual rogue like or rogue lite)

TL;DR: Save your money for now, buy the bundle in the future IF it fixes bugs, balancing, and a lack of meaningful content which adds to the main story. Otherwise pass.

Ive played all the boderlands games and loved every one of them. My initial thought of this game was that it was a huge DLC turned into a spinoff game. But i think they added enough into it where it could be its own game.

The board idea was ok, there wasnt enough in the Overworld for me to explore other than the shrine pieces, which felt more of a chore than anything for me to get. The random encounters was more of an annoyance for me, I only did them like a handful of times. The arena based dungeons dawned on me after a while but they were still fun, a couple more maps wouldve been nice, also wouldnt be bad if they raised the mob density a little.

The enemies were awesome and diverse, love how they transitioned them to fit the theme and still made them all quirky in a BL way. I found some of them hiding behind cover for way too long and would just chill there, forcing me to chase them down. Couple that with bad enemy spawns and it stagnates the flow of running arenas. Its not a major issue but in a game where the main objective is to grind, it definitely could be improved.

Characters were enjoyable and quirky/funny at times and at times kind of dull. The cast was great and their dialogue throughout the campaign never really bored me per say. Of course the return of Tiny Tina was awesome, shes a staple in the series and who better to tell the story of Wonderlands?...With that said, I couldnt help but to brush this off as a DLC story. It just felt like it was missing more than it gave in terms of the campaign and its characters. Nonetheless, I appreciate them trying something new, the series needs a breath of fresh air.

The character creation was a huge improvement because you weren't just picking 1 of 6 character classes and slapping skins on them like in previous games, you were creating a unique character that suited you with TONS of customization options. Everything from eyes, lips, hair, color of skin, primary/ secondary/trim color, tattoos, eye shadows, voice lines and much more that you can change on the fly! It adds so much more creativity to the game than just painting over a model.

The UI could always use some work but this time round it was a little easier to navigate in terms of the colors used in the skills/inventory menu and the map. Switching from blue to grey and yellow overlay just felt right, I hope they keep that in future games One thing that they cant seem to get right is the inventory, it just feels like they need to completely overhaul it with a better system.

The guns were ok, love that they have crossbow weapons and dark energy (life steal) as a new element, its something fresh brought into the game. Spells are amazing! Im playing the spellshot and oh man, the different combination you can integrate into your build beats out grenade mods all day. The weapons overall felt no different other than the gameplay in itself, it was more responsive and tighter in control.

The skill tree was the biggest improvement overall, taking 2 classes and combining them to create a build accompanied with a large variety of weapons and affixes is a game changer! I only have one character and the fact that I can explore so much more in terms of builds makes me want to try them all.

Last but not least, the end game. Chaos chambers. Ive only done a handful of runs and im loving it so far. I thought about it and honestly, what better game to put a roguelike in than in borderlands, where you are shooting and looting all the while building up your character to further your progression. It saves you from doing boss runs over and over again to get the loot you want and broadens your options in the path you want to take in progressing towards your build. Do you want more gems so you can roll on more barfing bunnies? Make it harder and challenge yourself for a better gem drop rate. You want to get the loot quicker? Skip the difficulty and go straight to the chest. Theres also 20 chaos levels and even have an elite mode that I havent tried yet. Buffs and debuffs that both help your run in power and amount of loot you get. Re-rolling your enchantments is a weight off your shoulders too. How many times have you farmed a weapon with great stats and a crappy "anointed" affix in BL3? Only to grind and find the same weapon with a better anoint and crappy stat? These are all great improvement in terms of grinding gear. It's enough to where runs dont feel dull and changes up the formula in a good way.

I think this should be a staple in the series instead of trying new end game grind content. Take this and improve upon the system by adding new maps, new enemies, new bosses, new items, new buffs/debuffs, and new builds over time and I think the series is headed in a good direction.

Overall, great game, great ideas and a better end game. 7.5/10 and an extra .5 for my bias towards the series.

This game was a blast until you hit Level 40 Chaos 20, basically the endgame. Which to the avid borderlands veteran, the lust for better loot and perfect rolls to maximize your efficiency with your build is a beautiful feeling, at least it was in Borderlands 3..

This game does so much right, except the weapons, the skills, and the way they operate are shear catastrophe. This game is like a refrigerator packed with cartons of milk, bottles of your favorite drink, boxes of delicious food, etc. etc. Except all of the cartons, bottles and boxes are all empty.

Chaos chamber, volatile loot, chaos loot, mixing and matching skill trees are all beautiful.. but the weapons, the skills themselves, the LOOT in general is almost not usable.

Whether people be abusing the 1.. 2.. 3? good skills in the game via glitches to be easy beyond a challenge in sight, or using your logic to combine enchantments and skills to mesh with each other only to be left shooting a base skeleton for 4 minutes before it finally dies, the entire game feels great until you start playing it.

I can't believe I spent $60 for a spin off that only got my attention because in 2012 the company released an amazing game full of unforgettable characters in which they are abusing for money TODAY. 10 YEARS LATER. This game wouldn't exist if Tiny Tina wasn't such a hit a decade ago.

When you realize this game is Gearbox's attempt at more money after releasing a 2nd Season Pass at the end of Borderlands 3 for ANOTHER $30.. You can begin to notice what's going wrong with the direction of the franchise.

I wanted to come home and enjoy my Graveborn companion build where two days ago I was stacking up to 18x Thralls for crazy damage, and today I am playing the same build doing the exact same setup and gameplay I was just two days ago and I can't consistently stack beyond 8x Thralls.. When the damage is percentage based that is monumentally less than just half damage being done to my enemies. This is where my complaint is stemming from the most, this game is severely inconsistent and just not fun to play.

I, like many other PC players and digital game owners are stuck without a proper refund policy to help us out in getting our money back. The $$$ Gearbox posts that they reeled in for Wonderlands is empty money because I guarantee I am not the only consumer of Borderlands software that will not be spending any more money for this sad decrepit franchise.

I will update my review now the game is exactly playable from the rant I previously posted.

I dit encountered game crashes on different systems, changing the settings to DirectX 11 does seem to solve most of the crashes, not many other bugs worth noticing.

    The game itself.

This game is technically and visually better than any previous borderlands. The classes are fun to play, much better than Borderlands 3. The addition of myth ranks and chaos trails are fun, but I hope it doesn't make the rest of the game world absolute as we have seen in Diablo 3 where you only stand in the middle of a village porting to instances. But I do think/hope you need to farm specific mobs or bosses in the large dungeons for specific items.

I like the "Overworld" an overhead view in a board game kinda style where you move from place to place. However, this does remove the open-world feel from the previous titles, it all feels very instanced.

I would have preferred a more borderlands 2 setting and story, the theme does make it feel like a smaller title between major titles.

The thing I maybe notice the most (also in borderlands 3) is the lag of a real writer like Anthony Burch who wrote Borderlands 2 and The Pre-Sequel. Every sentence is a forced joke, with no good storytelling, totally out of balance.

Another thing, I don't know why but they barely used any of the old NPCs, no Moxxi, no Hammerlock, no Marcus (not even on the vending machines). Apart from Tiny Tina I've only seen Mr. Torgue and Brick. This also detracts from the classic borderlands feeling and tradition. makes it feel again like a smaller title between titles.

It's a fun game to play especially in a coop, it does feel like a title between titles, and I would love to see a real writer work on Borderlands 4, for a lot better storytelling and in the quality and amount of jokes.

    Updated review from:

    Another flawed release!

The game is currently unplayable with friends due to SHiFT (The network system they use) not working.

If playing with friends is an important factor for you, I would advise you to wait a few days and check if they finally got it working.

Even solo players are experiencing problems due to these network problems."

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I can't confirm this, but after playing the whole game and seeing the message before the credits. The devs state that they wanted make something with a positive message as they realized impact of being forced to stay home and away from people. It seems pretty clear that this game was a damaged product of the pandemic. Thats why its not formally titled borderlands. It is very different in tone. Much less comedy centred. The overall game is much more minimalist. I wish it was advertised as such because a lot of people are coming into this thinking its the next borderlands. It isn't. Thus it shouldn't be judged entirely on that basis.

+ nice maps and world design. + Classes are and okay improvement. We get to chose the trees rather than the character being predefined. Mostly under the hood focused though. + Movement system and combat slightly improved. + Characters like frette, the dragonlord and other side characters are good. + half the side quests are good.

+/--- Story is trying to be more PG. It sorta tries to have a "nice" feeling, but doesn't consistently maintain it. Often turning its "nice" appearance into an awkward gameplay joke about how we will always do the violent thing because its borderlands. Much of the game is middle ground. Some areas are terrible, but there are still great moments scattered around.
+/- Constant enemy scaling. This hurts progression, but it does have its benefits with all loot being up to date with your level.
+/- Overworld. The game board element is going to come to preference. It doesn't need to be here, but its heavily connected to the theme of this game. Its fine for what it is.

    - issues with servers at launch (mostly patched now). - Horribly rough early game. Takes a long time to get things going. - the other half of the side quests are boring. - Many of the other characters are boring.

    ***I rated it an 8 to counter idiotic 0s. Its a 6.

***Game is clearly appeasing the woke crowd, but awkwardly enough it sometimes seems like they are low key making fun of it. Some are exaggerating the extent of its impact. When you listen closely to whats being said sometimes.

SPOILERS. The early game is an extremely slow start. Witholding many of the good parts of the modified combat for too long. A lot of the worst characters are used early. The game gets better after Torgue breaks character and returns to his normal self(while nuking the ocean with "magic missiles" so its not in the way. Declaring that he doesn't like the way the games going.). The main story point is actually shockingly good when it reveals itself. In a flashback kind of visual monologue from the Dragonlord we are shown that the game is about the psychology of Tiny Tina being a teenager that has only experienced violence. It defines the impact of the wars in BL2 and 3 that lead to deaths of many of the people she knows. Reflecting her behaviour throughout the game. Sadly this doesn't cover most of the game. Which is this games greatest fault.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is an amazing game. To begin with I have played every other borderlands game including the pre sequel and tell tale series. I have already put in 200+ hours and I feel that I have experienced almost all parts of this game. To start with, yes you can choose to only use spells or only go melee, or even stick to traditional borderlands style and use the guns. Depending on the class you choose, this is most definitely a possibility. People seemed to be upset that you could choose your pronouns, and I love what borderlands did with this. In most cases I feel that these things are shoved in people's faces to be inclusive. this game instead decided to make it a quick pick, and it just effects the text for your skills. Perfect way of making this inclusive, while not shoving it down everyone's throats. The gameplay is very polished with the pacing of quests, battles, and loot drops. I believe the idea to make your loot drop increase as you play the game was also a great idea as to not have a repeat of borderlands 3s loot drop rates. The jokes and dialogue are also appropriate. The music however definitely was a bit of a disappointment. I found that in many maps, the music either wouldn't play, would be too quiet, wouldn't be relative to the current battle, or it would sound very lazyily made by only repeating a few notes over and over again. There are some bugs, but this game is still very new and hasn't gone through many patches yet. I don't think that this game beats borderlands 2 for me, and I don't think anything will that they make. Borderlands 2 will always be special and the story just can't be beat, but I like that this games goal wasn't to do that. There is also a massive amount of gameplay here, and there is only more to come. End game is wonderful with the chaos system, and feels like a overhauled version of borderlands 3s mayhem mode. Also I'm not sure why it matters so much that this game came out on the epic store. It doesn't change the fact that I can play with friends, and it runs no differently from games on other launchers. player callouts also got a setting to turn off which is great because after a while they do get boring, but remember, YOU CAN TURN THEM OFF. I also don't think that because there's a side quest about freeing goblins that wonderlands goal was to preach about politics lmao. Also server issues will be fixed soon, the game is new, there's bound to be issues that they didn't foresee like player count. Overall, I love this game, story, gameplay, loot, and concept, and if you don't find the looter shooter genre fun, then no one's making you play it. I'm excited to see what new DLCs come out and what gameplay comes next.

Quick add-on,(this doesn't include people who had actual points and left poor reviews just the very odd ones), but the poor reviews for this game make no sense, either they haven't even played it, or somehow haven't learned the game mechanics. Like bruh saying there is no female representation or it's sexist, or political literally makes no sense. Also theirs settings to fix half of these issues. And people are complaining about the game trying to be inclusive. Wonderlands did this the best way they could have. So retuning the game because theirs a single setting to pick pronouns so that your skills say he attacks instead of she is just stupid lol. Also the end boss fight was hot.

Its a large DLC for BL3 at best. Its alright but far from a 60 bucks title.
The big downsides are that very little of the clever charme that the Tiny Tina BL2 DLC had. The best these writers could do was spamming pop cultures references and acting as if its funny. Anthony Burch is still untouched.
On the gameplayside its also just a straight downgrade of BL3. The endgame is much worse

On the gameplayside its also just a straight downgrade of BL3. The endgame is much worse than BL3s Takedowns - just copy paste random arenas without any depth, there are almost no unique new weapons that do things that you havent seen in BL3 and even worse the weapon variety on average is jsut worse. Most guns feel the same.

Spells for me are the big letdown. This was where they could ahve gone nuts with interesting effects but its hardly worth mentioning. The spells all behave like "around self aoe", "shot in line" "ground target aoe". Huge letdown on that front.

Get it for 30 to 40 bucks - its still silly BL fun but if you havent played BL3 or didnt like BL3 this is pretty much just a significantly worse version of BL3.

The campaign is fun and spells and melee weapons are a welcome change to the Borderlands formula. I vastly prefer spells over the grenade system. Will Arnett, Andy Samberg, and Ashly Burch bring their best performances to something any of them could have easily just phoned in -- Wanda Sykes, not so much. Ultimately, the game is short, overly repetitive, and way too easy even on the hardest difficulty level. Outside of the Dragon Lord, none of the bosses are even very memorable.

The overworld system was initially really interesting but by the halfway point it simply felt like a chore designed to pad out the playtime. Fast travel being limited to the hub city, overworld, or points within the current map is a downgrade. If you fast travel back to Brighthoof, the hub city, and want to go anywhere else other than where you came from (because the game is nice enough to at least put a portal to your last location), you have to hoof it (pun intended). Even with the travel speed shrine increase it's annoying once the majority of the map is opened.

Compared to the Borderlands franchise, the campaign is probably the shortest since the original Borderlands but that was the first game in an all new IP so it has a built in excuse. I completed the campaign, all the side quests, and all the collectibles (except the dice, still missing ~60) in 22 hours of game time. A good 6-8 hours of that was likely spent meandering around the maps looking for the aforementioned collectibles. The main campaign and all side quests alone is probably a 15-16 hour affair. I guess it's a bit longer than The Pre-Sequel but that feels like a backhanded complement since we knew TPS was a bulked up Borderlands 2 DLC.

End game, the Chaos Chamber, is tedious and wears out its welcome after a few runs. It's a glorified version of the Circles of Slaughter from prior Borderlands games, only with random locales (and bosses) chosen from the various campaign areas. A standard horde mode with no major innovations to keep anyone invested for prolonged play. At the end game there's no reason to go back to the overworld map for anything other than picking up any collectibles you might have missed along the way; you can't replay old areas and farm bosses like older BL titles, those bosses can only be fought again in Chaos Chambers. No end game repeatable bounties. No end game randomness. Just the endless chambers.

At higher Chaos levels, the balance seems utterly out of whack. If you're not using some kind of dark magic build to continually regenerate your health, I feel like you're going to have a bad time. Frost slowing and fire damage over time falls off fast once you start progressing (lightning was rarely good to begin with, poison is only slightly better). Dark magic is the least resisted magic type and the most potent for survivability regardless of class. And as OP mentioned, mob density is an issue. Either you have an Obelisk level where you're being zerg rushed, or you're in a map hunting down 1-2 mobs that spawned who knows where. The latter is especially annoying when you get a side-objective of "finish in X time".

Why is there nothing to do with Moon Orbs other than re-enchanting gear? Why not have a Moon Orb vendor who sells rare, wonderous loot? I have most of my gear enchanted well for good class and skill synergy so I'm almost perpetually at max Moon Orbs until/unless I get a new item that replaces an old one. This feels like something they didn't think through.

Although I enjoyed the campaign, it's not a game I'd recommend at full price. Feels like a budget Borderlands title and really should have been priced as such. If someone's on the fence, I'd say wait for a sale, especially if you're looking to get it on console. Chances are physical console copies will be on sale soon, as it seems a lot of releases these days have sales within a month or two.

2K Support pretends to be fixing the issue by ignoring it and saying "it's fixed" during low load time e.g. early morning hours.

You can't make a female character, as apparently the categories of male and female don't exist anymore, so you have to spend an hour in character creation to make someone who does not look like a man or who doesn't have a distinctly "masculine" style - because nearly all options are short hair and lantern jawed, no eyelashes etc. Is that cool forThis game is so unnecessarily annoying. Do they feel represented? There are no male or female description for voice in case it offends anyone - only "A" and"B" - you have to experiment to discover how to make your voice not sound like a typical man. Why why why? How is this progress? If anything it's sexist against males and females. How is it not sexist to deny their existence even remove the terms they identify as?

And the humor - IMO Borderlands was defined by its humor being irreverent satirical rude risque, absurd. Because they have adopted this ultra PE political etos where no one can be offended they can't make any amusing jokes - they can't send people up, they cannot have inappropriate characters or even truly nasty ones, you cannot laugh at how wrong something is, and probably the worst thing you cannot laugh at yourself, because you can't be hypocritical flawed a mix of good and bad, only what you proclaim to be. It's all so depressing. They have destroyed the series' greatest strength: its humor.

The shooting is good. But I can't play it, it feels like a piece of software designed to indoctrinate people. It takes you out of the game at every step. That's not why I buy games -or any art. The reverse actually. I prefer things that question and send up conventions, ideologies and sacred cows. Or I like art to help me escape from the news and politics for a while into a different world.

I've never been involved in the anti woke brigade, it's not an issue for me. But this is getting absurd. You are driving people away with this phony BS. I am not paying money to be conditioned to behave and think a certain way. I'm out. Well done Gearbox, you have offended me. That’s quite hard to do!

If I wanted to be annoyed by death, I'd play Elden Ring. This game wants to be quirky and fun, but even reducing the difficulty doesn't really alter the fights that much because the mechanics themselves are just a slog.

Key points: wave after wave of bad guys gets boring. Particularly when they shout the same things over and over. It's not a matter of skill. Just pure endurance. Can you take the painfully consistent and constant wall of the same enemies? Or will you lose focus and die?

Boss fights in this game are uneven. In one case, I had to do 3 phases and killed the boss so fast, they barely got off an attack. In another, I couldn't even hurt them. I went off, gained 5 levels, altered all my gear and STILL could barely hurt them. I reduced the difficulty and still struggled. Though at least it was possible.

The story is fun. I liked it. But it's not worth the hassle of the game play. I'm vaguely curious about what happens but not enough to slog through this.

Final point, I would've loved to get some help with that boss. But matchmaking dumped me in some random person's game where I wasn't even doing anything I needed. And I couldn't find a way to quit the group. I'm done.

People complaining that the game is 'woke'...just go back to IMDB and keep brigading there. You're out of your minds.

I ended up using the same weapon for the first half of the game, then found a new one that was slightly better and used that for the second half of the game. Writing wise, I would like to see a Tiny Tina game or expansion where her character arc isn't "I'm depressed and lonely". There could have been more development from the first DLC in BL2 for her. Voice acting was on point, Ashley, Andy, and Wanda did a great job in their roles in the game. Overall I gave this a 4 for frustrating gameplay and lack of weapon/loot diversity. Bonus: If you're going to give me an option to hold a button down to scroll through the end game credits, you need to give me an option to skip the credits as well. I held down on my joystick for 8 minutes as the concept art screens repeated through a sea of credits. Expand

Unfortunately I have just received a full refund from Epic games for this one. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands would have perfectly acceptable about 7 years a go as a paid dlc, maybe for about £15.00. The original Borderlands formula worked thanks to the looter/shoot dynamic and placing it a world of great characters and fantastic locations. Well, it still has the loot/shoot part but now it feels outdated and dull. Borderlands 1 and 2 will still be two of my all time favourite games. In fact I loved the 2nd game so much I clocked over 300 hours on steam playing different modes, characters and through all the dlc. But with this game I felt bored and unchallenged. One new things it adds is the addition of an rpg style over-world where you move an icon around a field map, well it simply did not work for me, especially as it adds random battles to the mix which in an FPS is a failed experiment in my opinion.
Overall, really disappointed, it feels like the devs just want to keep milking the same cash cow.

The gameplay is fine. If you liked the way BL3's gunplay and levelling felt, you'll like the way Wonderlands feels. Trouble is, it doesn't deliver on that the way you'd expect a Borderlands game to do.

Instead, we get a game that's nearly devoid of the cool wit and gleefully hyperbolic satire of the first two Borderlands games. In its place, we get quest and character writing that's so crudely unbalanced in its worldview that it makes the Babylon Bee's depictions of the left feel comparatively sane. Instead of the pure, apolitical silliness that an ADHD teenager could bring to the D&D table, we get a story that feels tired and a little disingenuous, as though it was handed a few too many revision notes from corporate and lost its creativity in favor of one-sided preachiness.

If you are offended by this claim, or find it excessive, consider that in the first 4-5 hours of gameplay alone, we get:
    - A character creator that will give you oddly specific names for every setting of every facet of the body except for the one that designates male and female body types
    - A sidequest in which you try to help a genuinely creepy lesbian get laid
    - A sidequest that is quite literally a marxist revolution led by a pacifist bearded female goblin.
    - An irreverent metrosexual paladin voiced by someone who jarringly played a woman in borderlands 3.

Heck, even with the game's player callouts, gearbox can't help but point out that the player character is bisexual. I'm sorry, I was under the impression that I'd be inventing *my own* character this time.

If it's not clear, the thing I dislike about this game, and what earns it such a low score, is that they constantly break immersion with the world for some obnoxious political point. And it's not a trivial amount of content that's this way. We're talking about entire multi-part sidequests built around these political points, hammering them home so bluntly that it makes you wonder if this game is actually a riff on the communist manifesto instead of the D&D handbook. That is not what was advertised, nor is it what I paid to get.

Is it possible to write a good story imbued with political viewpoints? Even ones I disagree with? Yes. Totally. Borderlands 1 & 2 had plenty of themes expressed in them I'd never agree with, including criticism of capitalism and commentary on sex and sexuality. Wonderlands' writing is just clumsy. It won't even do the job they're hoping it will do in convincing others of their point of view. Instead it gets lost in the clamor of every other company falling all over themselves to promote a warped interpretation of what it means to love and care about each other.

And, lest we forget: such a message makes *absolutely no sense* in the universe Borderlands initially set up for itself.

Borderlands' original appeal was grinding through a bloodbath of comic-booky cell-shaded homicidal maniacs with your friends while playing as a slightly less homicidal maniac in order to find cool guns and achieve the ultimate goal of becoming filthy rich and famous...and coincidentally befriending a few other maniacs along the way. How we got from that to broken co-op at launch, flat jokes, neo-marxism, and affirming gender identity as the standout features of the series is beyond me.

I was worried about the overworld being a chore but they definitely pulled it off, since it's one of the best feature of Wonderlands imo. The game is shorter than other Borderlands game, probobly due to covid stuff as they quoted during the credits at the end of the game, but I don't think it's a bad thing, Borderlands 3 for example felt way too long and this one felt much better.

Don't be bothered about all that ''woke **** people are complaining about, it really isn't that bad, you can make a male or female character if you want, people are straight out lying and dialogue wasn't lgbdq+ woke whatever. Sure there were some bits and things here and there but if you seriously can't enjoy the fun dialogue and this game just because the guy got a more ''queer'' accent, sure, skip to the next game. I really felt like this game was made out of passion and all this didn't bothered me at all.

The only two things that prevent me for making this a 10/10 is the online is currently messed up, you get disconnected all the time so let's hope they fix this soon enough. Also, even though I enjoyed the story and dialogue as a first playthrough, going through all this over again with other characters would really drag this out, there should be an option to skip.

Gearbox always clearly wanted to make a fantasy RPG, and they made a good one. It's a fantastic game. Tons of homage to fantasy tropes, feels like they somehow made a fantasy with guns setting work, and they toned down the boring, over saturated feel of the previous BL games for a more challenging and rewarding experience where you actually have to try to min-max and gear right to get a workable build, like action RPGs should be.

The art is beautiful, it plays somehow like a shooter RPG, the skills are fun, the drop rates are balanced, and the writing is legitimately funny.

Most fun I've had with a game in years. I hope they stick with this new formula instead of the mess that BL3 was. Reminds me of BL2, even BL1, or even a shooter version of classic ARPGs like D2. Love it. "Woke stuff" seems unnecessary (everyone does it nowadays to avoid scrutiny), but it's really not that big of a deal.

Only issue is that co-op seems broken.

However, the gameplay is great. I think this game does well in getting rid of a boring open world, and making more linear segments with nothing but action. There is a LOT of action in this game, and RIGHT OFF THE BAT, You get Ultra Vault Hunter Mode. The game is adequately difficult, you can have 2 skill trees at once, grenades count as an ability and they recharge....

Build's are customizable and characters are customizeable. Any future Borderlands game needs to take in the changed made by Wonderlands to heart. Especially the bossfights. The bossfights in this game felt fun and intense. A proper dodge button will probably help the franchise and make it a good, unique mix of Diablo's dungeon crawler with Dark souls combat.

But just to tell you how bad the dialogue is, i just want to turn off the game sometimes. You can't skip dialogue, and you can't progress the quest until an NPC shuts up. REALLY bad writing.

I also don't want yet another failed publisher's launcher taking up another 500 megs of space that runs like garbage and has none of the basic industry standard features that any good launcher would have. The only real reason why these publishers think they can do it themselves is because they want to cut out the middleman, except the middleman in this case provides VIP treatment and actually cares about it's customers.

As opposed to Epic, Uplay and Origin which don't give you refunds, have their own terrible policies, have terrible customer support which usually amounts to copy/paste responses and a "too bad, we made too much money to care about you" attitude. Story: the Jokes are a little childish just as the story. that being said the game plays itself threw the fantasy of a 9 year old. So real adult themes would feel out of place. Having a blast with this game. The use of spells over grenades is awesome, and the amount offered is fantastic. Co-op works fine now, and the game is overall hilarious. Gun play also feels buttery smooth. Excited to get to the end game.

Although it's the same mechanics as borderlands...that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Its more and better! (graphics are updated and look very nice!) it's a hell of a fun game! lot's of great environments. Good weapons, spells. The atmosphere is fun... a bit lighter then dragon keep, but i like it! I hope there will be more story dlc in the future!

Stunning levels and most importantly endgame at launch. Guns are re-skinned yet, they still feel different.

don't buy this game it's just a lazy cash grab, the content doesn't justify the price, this should have been a DLC instead

nice game, fun to play and listen, the dialog ara extremely fun.
woke? yes, but that doesn't affect the gameplay, the dialogues or anything. criticizing this game for that is like criticizing because it's raining and you don't want it to

Wonderlands has reignited my love for all the things it celebrates and lampoons: fantasy, tabletop gaming, and a sharper-than-ever serving of the looter-shooter Borderlands combat. The writing is funnier than ever, the world building has swapped the post-apocalyptic landscapes for lush, gorgeous maps, and improvements to the combat make this title a must-play. The game itself is good. Nothing less and nothing more then I expected from the "Borderlands" series. Classic type of humor and good gameplay in the fantasy type of world. That's a shame that a game gets rev bombing because of Epic launcher and some server problems in the first day.

Borderlands had its share of bugs, broken abilities and boring levels, but it always made up for it with humor and charm. Not anymore: Gearbox lost its best writers, so in Wonderlands it struggles even with established characters, and new ones fall completely flat. [Issue#260, p.42]

Tiny Tina's Wonderland is not only a DnD parody, it's wonderfully mocked by the many universes and characters that exist. If you love classic Borderlans action and are interested in the world of FRP, it's a wonderland where you'll both laugh a lot and have a lot of fun playing.

It is abundantly clear that the creative team behind Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands are massive RPG fans who have crafted a joyous blend of Borderlands mayhem with RPG epic-ness. I loved the story, characters, gameplay, and production values of this game. I should also mention that while I primarily played this game single-player, multiplayer co-op is supported because looter-shooters and tabletop RPGs are more fun with friends. First-person shooter games are not my preferred genre, but after playing Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, I would be game to try out a mainline Borderlands game and Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. For making me a new fan of something outside my wheelhouse, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands wholeheartedly earns a spot as one of my favorite games of 2022.
