I don’t have a clear sense of where the season as a whole aims to go just yet, but “Ties That Bind Part I” is one of Telltale’s strongest openers in recent memory. But that’s not just thanks to Part I’s style. Smart characterization and writing for Javi and his family, plus the return of Clementine, add weight to a largely unfamiliar but already engaging new frontier that I can’t wait to continue to explore. The story starts very strong and puts you right on the action.
the episode its good enough to not get bored. We kinda get some similar elements like the bad guys who are trying to kill the good ones but finaly the new protagonist Javier really shines. All the caracters are ok. Finaly I think this is a good start which really sets a up the relationship between Clem and Javi and manges to

Fantastic addition to the The Walking Dead series. To all the haters, I don't understand the affiliation you have with Clementine in terms of she has to be a playable character. In season 1 you play as Lee looking out for Clem, in season 2 you play as Clem. As for the new characters I think they are great, I like Javier (you) although he does not really compare with Lee or Clem imo. The general story Episode 1 Part one and two gave us is fantastic. Although there is no general idea of what the end game will be, each new situation that took place felt genuine and dark. The tone of the game is much different to the predecessors and is an improvement. The start and finish of the Episode is where its at its strongest, with the cliffhanger being unexpected as well as not being cheap. Cannot wait for the next episode.

I don't know what is the problem with appreciating the new characters honestly this game is well written and has a very great story , and also combines good point and click game play with high amounts of suspense honestly people need to back off this game is great.

I don't know if folks think it's easy to consistently knock it out of the park on story driven games like this especially ones which have to attempt to weave a story around so many decisions. I thought this game was a wonderful story about family that while flawed was still greatly enjoyable. And yes Clem plays a side part to it but she's awesome in it. Perhaps the greatest shortcoming is the game’s stubbornness to shove Javi’s family as the player’s raison d’etre, when it’s clear that Clementine is a much more relatable and less frustrating character. The classic Telltale trap of unavoidable events is still there, but by now you should know what you’re getting into. If judged by what it attempts to do, rather than by what some sceptic players want it to be, A New Frontier’s harrowing first episodes smoothen most rough edges found in other games in the series in terms of storytelling. It just about manages to shake off the notion of being a rehashed concept, and become a beast that can stand on its own two feet, built upon the foundations laid by Lee and Clementine. Hopefully the rest of the season manages to sustain this level of quality.

Ties That Bind does an exceptional job at building a new world for The Walking Dead fans to explore while still integrating the components that made Telltale’s series a breakout hit.
