I loved this game. The visuals were great and it has a heart wrenching story that is not forgettable. Great piece of interactive fiction. After reading other reviews, I was worried that changes in how the story is told will make it much worse than the first Season. Far from that: story is good, emotions are still there.

Moreover - there are improvements to how gameplay elements interweave the story so we do not have sections that break storytelling (like Drug Store in Season 1).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Excellent story, characters, drama, etc that comes close to matching the greatness of season 1. Some of the character interaction was a bit implausible (characters flying off the handle all the time just to advance the plot). Also there wasn't any lasting relationship between the main characters (eg. Clem & Lee) because everyone seemed to be dying all the time. Expand

Season 2, I think it is great as a sequel. The story is good, for a zombie game, for those who don’t know the walking dead is more about how the characters evolve during a zombie apocalypse than the apocalypse itself. I believe the game does really good at that, especially for the main character, you can see how this main character has changed and keeps changing after what happened in season 1 and now, in season 2. I think very little games and, in general, pieces of entertainment achieve such good management in character developing. As I mentioned, the story is good and it has plenty of tense moments and hard decisions for you to experience and make, it is a good thrill. In terms of other stuff, I personally like the graphics a lot; it is let’s call it comic book styled. The voice acting and sound effects are pretty good as well, so basically all you need to have a proper experience.

Another good thing is that IMO you can replay the game a few times and try different decisions as some of these have a huge impact in subsequent events.

Overall, another good story here, if you liked season 1, don’t think about it, you’ll like this one as well. Finally, It might be worth mentioning this might not be your kind of game. Although the story is quite intense, the gameplay itself is kind of slow paced as you mainly just walk around, talk and observe, so if you like very dynamic games with a lot of action and player interaction, this might not be your thing.

Not exactly realistic… but I guess that’s the hole Telltale dug for itself in having a child protagonist. Expand

I liked the game at the end. Zombies always work on me. What I did not like is how people are treating small girl. Everybody was asking to do things from kid. All grown ups were like kids relying on other kid. This was a weak point in script imho.

An example of a good sequel. Crueler, more interesting and with tougher choices.
At first I was reluctant to play as Clementine, knowing that Lee taught her to be a good little girl with high moral standards which would be kinda boring. But in a year long gap between two season Clementine matured a lot and became tougher. Even though everyone says that she's just a child and can't survive

At first I was reluctant to play as Clementine, knowing that Lee taught her to be a good little girl with high moral standards which would be kinda boring. But in a year long gap between two season Clementine matured a lot and became tougher. Even though everyone says that she's just a child and can't survive on her own, she constantly proves them wrong and shows that she clearly adapts better to zombie apocalypse than adults. Can't say much about other characters in this game. Some are good-written, some aren't and some are killed before you can begin to sympathize with them.
And this brings us to the main flaw of Telltale Games' games - your choices do not matter as much as you may think. Yeah, sometimes your choice would lead to the death of some character but about 2/3 of them die anyway and you can't do anything about that, so if you play the game again you may find out that that one time, when you were desperately thinking should you rob a guy with medicine or not, does not matter - that guy is still being robbed, if not by you, than by your partner.
Gameplay-wise it's the same game, since there is no point in changing working mechanics of story-driven interactive movie. And once again I want to note an amazing soundtrack by Jared Emerson-Johnson which blends really well with storytelling and beautiful on it's own. A real shame Telltale Games still haven't released it or the one from the previous game for sale.
Overall it's a good experience, still better than TV series, season 3 when?

This game is better than the TV show, just saying. The walking Dead season two telltale games.

This game is not as good as the first telltale game but it's still well done. The characters this time are okay for the most part, but Kenny and clementine are the two best parts of this game. The game play is good and the gore is even more shocking in this.

This is a brilliant game by itself however when compared to S1, it falls short of expectations. Like always, TWD focuses on character development rather than a story. S2 fails to develop strong relationships with any of the characters thus not striking the emotional chord of the player. However, if you've played S1, you must play it.

The game is a good sequel to the previous season. It is not as good as the first one but still a great game.
The gameplay feels like the creators wanted to push more action and quick time events into this story based formula, and I can't really tell whether this was a good decision.
The story itself feels a little less engaging. It does keep you thrilled for almost all of the episodes

The story itself feels a little less engaging. It does keep you thrilled for almost all of the episodes but it also more predictable. When you land in a peaceful moment, you know things are just too good to be true and that something is going to happen that is going to ruin the whole situation. But it is still a great story full of characters that evolve in a direction that seems justified.
The game ends with one of the hardest decisions I had to ever make in a video game and leaves me wondering if I did right.

Season Two is a good game in its own right, but only because of the monumental triumph of the first season; If it were a standalone, it wouldn't make much of an impact and is certainly not a 10/10. It is an enjoyable and engaging story, and it's nice to be around (actually playing) Clem, who remains one of the most memorable characters in gaming history. As usual, the game mechanics suck badly, and as you'd expect, there's not a lot of control over situations. - You are always at the mercy of happenstance, or other foolish adult choices, otherwise the story (like the TV series) would never progress - you'd always be armored and fortified properly, rarely facing dread danger because you'd thought ahead. But that's the nature of a story-driven game. The writing is excellent (much better than the TV show), and voice acting is superb. Facial animations are well done and the graphical art style is wonderful. As many others have written, the deep emotional impact just isn't there; you never (or only slightly) connect with any of the characters. The hands-down best sequence of the game only proves that the first season was far superior at that. This game essentially admits it can't compete with the first, in particular, Clem's connection with Lee. In one of the optional endings (thankfully I didn't choose it) the story tries, but epically fails to try to reproduce that heartbreak. But it is totally unbelievable and just doesn't hit the note.
