Aug 15, 2023That's a gorgeous game with a nice narrative, but I came to realize that "walking simulatores" are not my thing. That being said, it seems like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a pretty good title for the genre.

Feb 5, 2023Complete snooze fest all in all. But the premise was somewhat interesting and the world was pretty. But just didn't personally find it very fun to play.
-
Oct 25, 2022Атмосферно простенькие головоломки ,версия redux еще стало круче, спустя несколько лет можно еще поиграть
-
Oct 12, 2022pros: graphics, nice scenery
cons: not enough interactions, too much of a walking simulator, predictable and forgettable story.
Overall - a waste of time. -
Oct 3, 2022not my type of game.
at first sight it was pretty good and interesting but i just cant seet for a very long time and just walk in this game. story and quests are too rare. i didnt like gameplay and its not as much story as i want. also game is pretty old and visual is not good so walking is not only uninteresting also it is a little unbeautyfully -
Aug 29, 2022one of these walking simulator with really good story, really good storytelling and also good game mechanics.

Apr 10, 2022Got the game free from Epic Store. Story is very interesting, every single clue you find makes you more curious for the rest of the story. Graphics looks stunning. First game area cant stop looking for the view.

Mar 22, 2022The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is a 2014 horror adventure video game developed and published by The Astronauts. The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is set in an open world environment, in which the player can roam around and explore at will; in its opening the game notes that it "does not hold [the player's] hand", and as such features very little by way of explanation to the mechanics.
-
Mar 19, 2022The Vanishing of Ethan Carter lacks the proper amount of player's agency to compensate for its beautiful but ultimately boring sandbox that demands too much for too little reward.

Jan 1, 2022Довольно необычный опыт. Всё просто, минималистично, но притом дарит кучу эмоций. Мне понравилось, что игру можно пройти за пару часов. Сейчас не хватает таких проектов.

Dec 19, 2021confusing, don't know what to do after I do all the clues and the six scenes revealed.

May 14, 2020The potential is there for a straight 10, but it does get a bit boring at times. However it is a great game about exploration, a pretty great ending to tie things up and at least one great puzzle with the rooms in the house changing (I believe it may be optional though). Definitely worth checking out both for fan of walking simulators and adventure games

Aug 21, 2020The story of The Vanishing of Ethan Carter was good. The atmosphere was really cool. It made me feel like a private detective. Actually, it's more like a "paranormal" detective game. If you like these kinds of games, you must give it a try. 3hrs on record.

Aug 10, 2020Beautiful masterpiece. This is the one in a million case, when astonishing graphics works together with creative mystic plot, combining each other.
-
Jun 30, 2020A stunningly beautiful walking simulator with some interesting puzzles and a good story.
-
Apr 26, 2020Superb story with some twists. Supernatural detective style.
Very good game in a row with Edith Finch and Gone Home.

Feb 15, 2020The scenery is stunning. The story is engaging and enjoyable and the atmosphere is immersive.

Sep 1, 2019Es un juego corto pero definitivamente recomendable. El entorno en el que te envuelve, una trama llena de misterio y los puzzles lo hacen un juego muy bueno.

Apr 28, 2019Another walking simulator with a few easy puzzles thrown in with a lot of time consuming padding going from A to B to stretch out this game. Wow I went through all that initially interesting weird drama for the crappiest of crappy trope and cliché ending.

Oct 3, 2018For me Ethan is a big disappointment. I didn't enjoy repetitive "chronology" puzzles and the story is quite dull. Mediocre title in it's genre.

Jan 6, 2018The Vanishing of Ethan Carter is one of the best 'walking simulators' out there: it has the amazing visuals, interesting story to tell and even some actual gameplay)
-
Jan 3, 2018what a god damn borefest... story and characters are joke and basically nothing will actually happen... this is not a game for a real players whos actually want PLAY and have some challenge, story or just want more than just boring seance... graphic is good but also nothing special

Dec 14, 2017I lost count of how many times I stopped and just looked at the distance while immersing myself in the world and eye-popping graphics. Combine that with a haunting story, brilliant writing and voice acting that really connects and you have a game so good, even buying it at full price feels like a steal.
Every time I play this, I can almost feel the wind in the game brush against my face. -

Dec 16, 2016the game is beautiful and sounds great, but it's held down by very slow pacing, puzzles that take forever to solve, if you mess up you have to start all over again, and the story doesn't make much sense unless you look up the lore...

Aug 26, 2016I haven't played a lot of exploration games like this yet, but i really did like this one, everything about it.
A game short and fun is so much better than one long and boring. -
Aug 11, 2016Beautiful game. Atmosphere is on point. Dark room, headphones or nice speakers recommended. Immersive. Love it and enjoy it. Even now after finishing the game I find my self getting in the game just to look around.
-
Jul 18, 2016Beautiful graphics, great story with a somewhat easy to predict plot-twist. Really well executed. Needs more content but can't blame the developers. Torn between a 9 and a 10, but have to settle with 9. Please make another one of these great games!

Jun 9, 2016Stunning graphics, but not much more. Long and boring dialogues with poor character animations, rare and simple puzzles. No special meaning or message in the plot, though I expected to find some (or should I look better?). This game couldn't hold me for a complete walkthrough. Much worth seeing, but probably not really worth walking through.

Jan 24, 2016Easily the most boring game I have played in my entire life. Floating camera monotonous walking simulator with nonsensical puzzles. I don’t remember ever being this bored with a game. What a waste. I should have been paid for time wasted on finishing this game. It’s short the only positive I can say about this game.

Jun 14, 2015Great ambiance, interesting puzzle mechanics (i'm almost willing to forgive how long it took me to find a certain object..) and captivating enough story.
A bit too much walking.
Worth trying for those interested in something different, but not for everybody and not that fascinating. -

Apr 25, 2015Well what can i say. Its one of the createst games of our time. You actually fell like you are inside of the story a lovable story and gameplay, which come with some excellent graphics.

Apr 4, 2015Another in a long line of mostly non-interactive Unreal Engine walking games where nothing much happens. You have to solve a series of mostly illogical logic puzzles that piece together a back-story of how a little boy goes missing. Too vague for its own good, with no gameplay mechanics to speak of.

Feb 13, 2015Great game. Love the realism of the landscape, very atmospheric and draws you into the world of Ethan Carter. This is interactive fiction on a grand scale. More please!
-
Feb 13, 2015The game has a brilliant story and looks absolutely amazing. However it lacks a little substance in some parts of the game play, and the brilliant bits of the story are filled with a lifeless world and plenty of walking in between. Still worth a look, just could of been something truly great with a few more tweaks.
-
Feb 4, 2015The only criticism i would have for this game is the non-linear possibility. By allowing me to examine places randomly the story was broken up and made very little sense to me. If you haven't played the game yet, my advice to you i don not do too much exploring off the beaten path or you'll end up finding places you shouldn't at that time. Still, i enjoyed the game.
-
Jan 29, 2015Probably the only so-called 'walking simulator' game I've enjoyed so much, I played it multiple times. Played it 5 times over again, 20 hours overall.
The writing style, the atmosphere, the characters, the subtext, the, the... THE EVERYTHING?! -
Jan 10, 2015Great game, fantastic looking (max graphics at 1440p anyway), great atmosphere, a thoroughly enjoyable if brief diversion... but not for those with short attention spans. I very much hope to see more from this team.

Oct 28, 2015The Vanishing of Ethan Carter it's a lovely experience that enchants the player with its narrative, and landscapes. Even the sound is fitting in this smart game whose only real problem is the duration.
