You will need to control the space around you and optimize your approach, manage ammunition, and mainly rely on skill and reflex. The goal of each level is to find the exit, which is easier said than done since the game puts you in a maze like labyrinth. The solution comes down to headbutting every wall until you find the exit. It is impossible to make sense of the levels on a first play through and because the visuals are so ancient, it makes it that much harder to figure out where you are supposed to be on the map. Truth be told Doom is and OK game, it is not completely good and it is not completely bad either. Not a masterpiece by any stretch of the imagination.… Full Review »

Great controls, terrific and iconic soundtrack, gorgeous devilish atmosphere, intense gunfights, notable bosses. The plethora of levels is varied, maps can be gigantic, there are numerous secret and hidden places to find, the story is highly original, you have many and many items and improvements to search and find, you are able to modulate the difficulty. The level design is exemplary. Sound effects are okay. There are many different opponents with varied patterns and weaknesses. The game benefits from a long lifespan. The few puzzles there are are challenging and rewarding. The minimap is very useful and intuitive. The coop system is amazing. The graphics are more than decent and contribute to make "The Ultimate Doom" very fun to play despite the years that separate us from its creation. Clearly an 'easy to play - hard to master' type of game. Definitely a must-play !… Full Review »

But in case I do, it's fast, it's crazy, it runs like a dream, the music is great, the level design.. hasn't aged well, it's challenging. I mean, ♥♥♥♥. It's DOOM. If you haven't played Doom yet, you're really missing out. If recent FPS's have been bumming you out with their bad damage models and regenerating health, what you might need is this classic.… Full Review »
