    A fine classic right here. The story is amazing, our choices matter, the atmosphere is THICC, gameplay might be repetitive, but the locations, enemies and again THICC atmosphere make it worthwhile. Love this game. Pickens approves!

    Aside from the bugs, this game is quite good.
    Excellent story, gameplay and the atmosphere doesn't fail to entertain me, either.
    But like I said, the bugs are quite annoying, sometimes affecting gameplay and sounds.

    Incredibly fun and unique, atmospheric horror game. I hope someday we get a remake.

    Graphically its not bad, not great, but not bad. Character animation is good and the monsters are original and scary. Voice acting is far better than I was expecting. Atmosphere is creepy, lighting is spooky and sound effects are excellent. A job well done as far as ambience and mood. However, there are bugs or perhaps they are programing decisions that I found frustrating at times. At Graphically its not bad, not great, but not bad. A job well done as far as ambience and mood. However, there are bugs or perhaps they are programing decisions that I found frustrating at times. At one point a guard who was gunning for me refused to die no matter how many slugs I pumped into him. The only way to deal with this situation was to run and hope I reached the next level before he methodically gunned me down. Later, an npc with whom I team up does not die despite being set upon by a hoard of blade wielding creatures. Overall, a hard edged, scary and fun game.… Expand

    I am not going to complete this game. It just gets a bit boring. The fighting mechanics are vague. Why is a knife more effective then a pistol? Dont tell me, I am done with this.

    The game is very repetitive and boring after a few levels. The lights are so bad that is really frustrating to see something in the dark even with the flashlight. But is not bad at all, it has some creepy stuff. The dark voices, the creatures, the story and some weapons make this game decent to this genre.     Suprisingly few number of reviews. I played it long time ago, still it was an interesting game.
    There are only few games I started to play, but deleted. This is one of them.
    The reason was, I got stuck at a certain point of the game and I tried to solve so many times without success i uninstalled it because of being overly frustrated.     The game controls, graphics, mechanism and physics are all good.
    The atmosphere is obviously unique, though depressing as it should be!

    Someone mentioned the bugs. Maybe I could not proceed because of a game-breaking bug, I will never see, because I gifted my game collection a while ago including this title and the game was not as good as to be played again after making me frustrated :)    … Expand

    В детстве просто пугался от этой игры. Вначале игра очень атмосферная и страшная, но ближе к концу скатывается в обычный шутер с монстрами, но впечатление все равно производит хорошее.

    Combining excellent atmospheric effects with creepy CG sequences and superb game play, The Suffering is easily one the best and most surprising horror titles to come along since Fatal Frame, and it’s the first game since the original Silent Hill that may cause spontaneous incontinence and liberal use of the word (expletive).
