I bought this one and promptly took it back. What is the point? The games gives you two pre-made characters and a backstory to guide you through their lives. There are new shortcut keys for basic things like eating and answering the phone, but again, you couldn't click on those things before? The game does run well on a laptop, so the portability factor might be appealing to some. It I bought this one and promptly took it back. What is the point? This game might be fine for someone who cannot think of motivations for a Sim, but the rest of us can make up our own direction, thank you. Save your money for Sims 2:The Seasons. Expand

Adding stories to the game is a good idea, just a shame that the game is so short. Experienced simmers will likely fly through this and then go back to regular sims. Too expensive for what it is - at least in the UK. Only play this if for some reason you can't run the regular game on your pc and desperately needs a sims fix. Hopefully we'll see a story based expansion pack for Adding stories to the game is a good idea, just a shame that the game is so short. 1. Potential players don't need to fear it sucking away hours of their lives (although it still might), but they can look forward to an excellent game with some very amusing stories to tell.
  2. Snobbery be damned, Life Stories is a thoroughly enjoyable crossover between an established series and the world of casual games.

The net result is a product that can't be faulted on its accessibility, but has less subtlety than ever with which to hide the inherently, and sometimes unrelentingly, mechanical process that caring for your sims represents. [Mar 2007, p.85]
