The Adventure Awaits Expansion Pack is a great addition to The Sims 4 collection - but ironically, it's not the Getaways that were the biggest draw, despite the heavy focus in promotions. It's actually everything else that's packed into this Expansion: Formative Moments, Imaginary Friends, Archery and Papercrafting, butterfly and moth collecting, and Gibbi Point and its side quests. With all these combined, despite the main draw not being a personal favorite, Adventure Awaits still feels worth getting.

Besides the aforementioned overeating at getaways and a glitch where Sims swimming at a waterfront property would swim through the dock, my experience with the Pack was also surprisingly bug free, which is a huge relief given its complex new systems. It may not appeal as much to players who prefer more micromanagement gameplay over observing autonomy, but I think The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits does have an adventure to be found for almost everyone.

Adventure Awaits isn’t just a pack for outdoorsy Sims; it also fleshes out the Child lifestate with elements that follow Sims throughout their lives. Packing in the series’ usual whimsicality in the form of unique Imaginary Friends and a ton of new skills and hobbies to partake in, Adventure Awaits has exactly the sort of depth and creativity a DLC should have. If we can get more Packs like this and Life & Death, The Sims 4 still has an incredibly bright future 10 years after its initial launch.

Get to know this expansion’s many parts, and you’ll find a bounty of activities to enrich the lives of all Sims in your household – whether that means learning a new skill, or taking time to relax in Gibbi Gibbi Point, and beyond.

Adventure Awaits does not live up to it's name. Adding small nudges to lots of areas of the game, it doesn't quite know what it wants to be and doesn't manage to succeed at any of it. This is unfortunately not an Adventure you'd miss out on.
