May 29, 2011It brings new humour, new methods of interaction, and a much more fleshed-out portrayal of personality for your Sims. In fact, it can be argued that this is the desert-island expansion pack; the pack you'd choose if you could only pick one. If you own the Sims 3 you need to buy Generations.

PC GamerJul 14, 2011Despite being the first The Sims 3 expansion not to include a new town and not adding the biggest load of new clothing and items, The Sims 3: Generations isn't skimping. [Sept 2011, p.76]
-
May 23, 2011In any case, it is once again entertaining to help the age-conformist and individually generated family to handle its virtual life.
-
Jun 25, 2011Ultimately, your level of enjoyment depends on whether you define an expansion by its item catalog or by its gameplay mechanics.
-
Jun 13, 2011With decent graphics, great sound effects and good old fashioned Sim gameplay with lots of new content, The Sims 3 just keeps getting better and better. Recommended to all lovers of the Sims!
-
Jun 24, 2011The Sims 3: Generations is an expansion in keeping with the spirit of the series: through a number of additions spread over the whole experience, it enriches its scope providing a lot of new things to see and do.
-
Jun 27, 2011Generations goes for the typical expansion suggested retail price of $39.99 and may be hit or miss for you, depending on what you like about The Sims 3 and whether you'd appreciate the more understated improvements of this expansion pack.
-
Jun 20, 2011On its own Generations isn't going to do much for your experience, but in conjunction with everything else it just makes for a more interesting experience.
-
Jun 17, 2011The newest add-on, unlike its predecessors, introduces new things in a well balanced way throughout the entire game. New emotions, new needs, new opportunities don't pile up on the gamer. On one hand it's a good thing that we don't get everything at once – exploring the game takes some time. But on the other hand some people might not like the fact, that it's all scattered… But that's not the purpose of Generations.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Jul 30, 2011Not good as Sims 3: World Adventures yet quite a good expansion that brings new juices to Sims life with a bunch of mischievous jokes. [July 2011]
-
Jul 11, 2011An expansion that certainly enriches the Sims experience, but not in a particularly impactful way.
-
Jul 11, 2011The sims' social life finally get the overhaul they've been longing for. There no new burrough or new main feature, but there's plenty of golden nuggets strewn about in every corner of the game, all of which are well worth looking for.
-
Jul 6, 2011The Sims 3: Generations is a fun romp which relies on the patient, persistent player to unlock its hidden treasures.
-
Jun 30, 2011Although this add-on surely deserves attention from any fan of the franchise thanks to its enriched gameplay experience, some gamers might not find it worthy of a further investment.
-
May 31, 2011The majority of the new features introduced in The Sims 3: Generations are enjoyable enough to fiddle with, but none of them are major game changers.
-
Oct 23, 2011The new additions may be entertaining and well done, but this add-on is still far too expensive, if you don't really care a lot about your Sims and their fun.
-
Jun 27, 2011Certainly there is a lot more here than is immediately evident, but the fact remains that this expansion's approach of adding spice as opposed to entirely new entrees is unlikely to excite all but the most dedicated Sims fans.
-
Jun 23, 2011The Sims 3: Generations offers fun new features and objects to play with, but on the whole, it doesn't make much of an impression.
-
PC PowerPlayAug 8, 2011Minor gameplay changes mark this as one for fans only. [Sept 2011, p.69]
-
Jun 13, 2011It's not the best of The Sims 3's expansions by a long shot, and compared to the other packs seems quite expensive for what it is -- but fans of the series will enjoy the deeper experience it offers.
-
Aug 14, 2011Generations is, without a doubt, the second blandest expansion in The Sims franchise since The House Party.
-
Jun 11, 2011Quotation forthcoming.
